dexter
I remember hearing an absolutely unbeatable performance of this song on the radio sometime in the early 90s, still haven't figured out where it came from although I suspect it was a SB and it definitely wasn't knebworth or anything from 77... Anyone else care to venture an opinion? Copenhagen 79 was pretty damn good...

Northern Monkey
Achilles live always sounded to me as if is was going to disintigrate at any second. Some of the 1980 ones (ooh er, controversial!) are pretty good, slightly different drum beat but tends to sound tighter than in 77 or 79.
solar
Achilles live always sounded to me as if is was going to disintigrate at any second. That's what I think is the best part of live ALS - it's just ferocious and urgent and feels like a wobbling train wheel about to fall off the track but keeps catching the rail just in time. Cashmere
I reckon the one from Knebworth (in the DVD box set) is astonishing.
dexter
Zurich 6/29/80 - this was the version I was thinking of originally, pretty solid all the way through, great sounding SB..
Trashbag
I don't think anybody would say 8/11/79 would be the best version. The 1980 performances, IMO, are the best sounding ones.
