WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Was overwhelmed by tonight's show. I will digress and quote from a pop culture flick of the recent past...WELL FUCK ME GENTLY WITH A CHAINSAW HEATHER!!!!!!

sublime, intense,controlled,hypnotic,intoxicating.

Trampled Rose had me shiverring, the set ending Battle of Evermore-Please Read the Letter found me weeping at the end of the first, pulling back into my body at the end of the latter.

Allison has the voice of an angel. Robert, so at ease, ooooozed. NOTHING.

Above and beyond what I was expecting.

or was it??????????????

Crisp sound and visuals. SUPERB musicianship.

Raising Sand???? I say LEVITATING DIRT.

possibly one of the best musical experiences I have been priveleged to witness.

Cant wait for the Felt Forum next week in NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to the Mohegan Sun show last night, had a great time except for a wildman next to us, he was prob 300+ lb's and had the whole row of chairs rockin!

Well the show was great, esp In the Mood, Battle of Evermore, when taking a few beer breaks i noticed a setlist on the beer kiosk's table, as every song was played they checked it off, i guess to keep track as when to shut down the beer before the show ended.

Well 2nd oncor song listed "When the Levee Breaks" was never played!!

What a total bummer!!

All we heard were 3 unkown to me church type songs, i am not a huge fan of Allison but i cant believe they didn't play Levee!

As we walked out the setlist was still there at the now empty kiosk, i grabbed it, it also list's next to the song what pitch they were using.

As usual no luck at the slot's after the show

Wow, all the reviews have been fantastic. I cannot wait to see this show very soon!! Did they play "Hey Hey What Can I Do" or "29 Palms"? Also, did you notice what kind of merch they had?

I love your enthusiasm; it's so contagious! :D

I was reading this article earlier, StubHub Ranks Best Concert Ticket Deals of the Summer , that says tickets for that show were going for as low as $14. Not good seats at all, but sounds like you'd be getting way more than what you paid for!

There are t-shirts though at the show I was at, believe it or not I didn't see them :lol: The tour book is well worth the money. It's hard cover and has a lot of beautiful photos and good articles to read. There's also a tote bag someone mentioned.

Also a poster.

They seem to be doing different encores at different shows. They didn't do Levee in Paris, either. In fact, the whole show seems to be evolving as the tour rolls along, which is cool.

Absolutely incredible show. I wasn't front row like the reunion but I was on the floor about 25th row. Excellent musicianship on all accounts.

I see that someone else also got a setlist. I got one as well. Bummer they didn't play the levee although it was on the list. I thought they played four songs for the encore. Can anyone confirm who was there how many they did???? There's four on the list including the levee. I don't know Krauss' stuff that well.

Robert was incredible as always, but I just can't keep thinking of what could be...

I was really hoping that I wouldn't like the show so that it would be obvious that Robert should be with zep, but I can see the attraction of playing with these folks...and not just alison. Her voice was absolutely mesmerizing on many songs but the rose stood out HUGE. The song, no kidding, put chills up my spine. Absolutely breathtaking. As I was listening to it I was thinking that this must be close to what opera is like. I've never seen any opera(except a bit on tv).

They did three zep songs as previously mentioned. Black dog was awesome. I've got a killer version of plant/page doing it in 98 and this was very similar to it. Very very jazzy/bluesy. Hard to explain as I'm not a musician.

Black country woman. Holy cow. Very zeppelin-like yet different. It was very much like the Plant/page versions of zep songs on the 94/95 tour.

They also did in the mood, the PK version of this was also quite different and it worked.

battle of evermore... i must admit that i like the plant/page version so much better with the indian singer. Robert and Alison sang it as a duet while the nineties version the female voice was more or less closer to another instrument than another voice. it was still good, i just prefer the other singer...and of course jimmy.

wish they had time for the levee, but i guess they ran out of time. I didn't clock it but they must have played close to two hours if not over.

T-Bone is incredible. He really has a way with his music. He said that Robert is "the most generous musician I have ever worked with".

Robert several times hollared out a "can you feel it" and of course some oh baby baby's throughout the night. He was in top form and sounded outstanding. Note...for several songs he was a backup singer and that was hard for me to swallow...similar to the rolling stone top 100 guitar licks. zep should be right out front, not in the background.

I'm so happy that I got a setlist. It wasn't free as I had to bribe someone for it, but it was worth it. I got my room and tix comped and won at the casino so what the hell.

I've got tix for tuesday and wednesday, but I might sneak up and see saturday nights show in cananaigua. It's a long ride, but I might just go for it.

I remember some pics posted of the tour book, and they were really nice.

Here's a GREAT vid from the CT show:

Plant/Krauss June 4

Thanks for posting that!

Robert looked a little........tipsy there.. :D

The end of Evermore was funny. Yeah, let Alison wail her lil ass off too!

Too me, they still look awkward sometimes though, Robert sorta dancin' around while Alison just looks at him kinda strange...

And man, Robert, I'm gonna rip that damn outfit off of you if you still have it out west :D

I agree with all of this. It's funny watching Alison looking at him. He's letting loose and dancing, and you can get the feeling that he's really being taken by the music. She's sort of looking at him in amusement, or dare I say in a way a daughter may be embarrassed of her father. :bagoverhead:

But hey - I like it! :D

And yes - jeans dammit.... jeans!!!

Here's a review of the show from the London Day. It's the paper from New London, Connecticut. Quite positive to say the least.

Plant + Krauss x Burnett = Awesome

The answer to the most obvious question surrounding the Alison Krauss/Robert Plant concert Wednesday in the Mohegan Sun Arena is:

Eleven.

Yep, I counted 11 Led Zeppelin T-shirts in the corridors and seats of the seemingly sold-out venue.

In that context, you have to figure a huge percentage of the audience was coming to see Robert Plant: Official Zep Icon. Misguided, perhaps, but certainly true.

The good news is that Krauss and Plant, touring behind their spookily wonderful “Raising Sand” CD with a stunning band featuring T-Bone Burnett and Buddy Miller, completely won over the crowd - regardless of any preconceptions that Big Bob would burn the joint down with

album-perfect renditions of

”Immigrant Song” or “Whole Lotta Love.”

In fact, in keeping with the eerie harmonies and “Deliverance”-on-codeine roots tunes from “Raising Sand,” the expanded show featured delicious arrangements of Zep's “Black Dog” and, in what was possibly the finest performance of the night, as fine a take on “Battle of Evermore” as you're likely to ever hear.

Because this most unlikely sonic union - bluegrass giant Krauss with producer/visionary Burnett and, of course, Big Bob - has worked on so many levels that it stands as one of the great musical experiments of the last decade. “Sand” was one of the best CDs of 2007 - and now we know the construct works in live performance, too.

Krauss emerged in a knee-length dress and boots and Plant had a longsleeved shirt and maroon pants - in sartorial contrast to Burnett's “rock dude” duster and Miller's porkpie hat and a jacket that looked made of wallpaper you'd see in a funeral home. The stage set was spare until the very end, when the background curtains were replaced by tinsel strands as though from a giant Christmas tree.

”Rich Woman” started the two-hour set and, as on the album, the vocal couplings of the two singers were breathtakingly unique. Too, as arranged by Burnett and evocatively performed by the five-piece group, the music was mesmeric - the languid and similar pace of the tunes had a sort of voodoo spell effect over the course of the evening. And while bluegrass and Zep ingredients are by definition part of the mix, all manners of material from rockabilly to gospel and blues to pure country are all treated to the Krauss and Plant experience.

High points in the set included “Trampled Rose,” with Krauss' gorgeous voice pulling rain clouds of sadness from the sky, “Down to the River to Pray” with barbershop harmonies, the plucked gypsy sounds of “Sister Rosetta,” like Bertolt Brecht sitting around a Carpathian campfire, Plant's very fine “Fortune Teller,” and the sweet “Green Pastures.”

Too, a surprise rendition of “In the Mood” from Plant's “Principle of Moments” solo album was intriguing, and a two-song presentation by Burnett of his recent material was a nice touch. The band stormed to a finish with killer takes on “Please Read the Letter” and the Everly Brothers' “Gone Gone Gone,” and by the end of the night everyone - including the Zep People - were utterly charmed.

This is the opinion of Rick Koster.
