Bluefalcon
Years ago I heard a boot from 68/69 that opened with a smokin' version of Train. Can someone help me find the best boot from that time period with that song? I'm just looking for the title, so I can go and trade for it.

Evster2012
Can't go wrong with 3/7/70 aka Intimidator. Aptly named, a ferocious show.

I've got 20 dates before this concert... lol. Smokin-est version of Train Kept A-Rollin' IMO is from 1969-01-05 "Live at the Whiskey A Go-Go". Another reason to get this show is the killer version of the rarely played For Your Love. Absolutely mind-bending. The other suggestions like 1969-04-27 and 1969-08-31 have slightly better sound quality, but a worse performance of the song IMO. Just get all the shows from 1969, they all make me rock the fuck out. Ev, you're normally pretty good about this sort of thing, so I could be wrong... but I don't think Train Kept A-Rollin' was played on 1970-03-07... At least the version I have doesn't have it... the early 1970's opener was Were Gonna Groove...
Evster2012
Oh, my mistake. I missed the bit where it said "with Train Kept a Rollin". It got cut of by my browser. Doh! Oh and I think by "First set" hmm.. first set played in 1969!? I've got 20 dates before this concert... lol. in the post you referred to meant first half of the concert, not first concert itself. Though there is the matter of there never having been an intermission! Spot on bro!

The 1977 Acoustic Set
If you're new to boots, I'd start with Texas Pop 8-31-69. As stated earlier, it has probably the best sound quality and is probably the one you heard.
