So what do you all think of yesterday's teen idols vs today's (Miley, Jonas Bros, Demi Lovato, etc.; with 3 kids aged 7-15 we hear them all...). My favorite teen idols from my generation were the Monkees; they were cool; not too goody goody and their music was pretty good.

I'm not sure about today's; although I thought I detected a slight Stevie Nicks quality in a Miley song...shocking!! (7 Things...)

How's it going "Virginia?" That's a good question. Seeing some of Miley Cyrus' performances blows me away. For 15 years old, this teen idol does it all. She is extremely talented. Even The Jonas Brothers have some good moments. Do you remember Hanson? These newer teen idols are really generating a worldwide impact. As years have gone by, the accomplishments and achievements of the teen idols of the past are still not forgotten. It is extremely hard to deny the talents and achievements of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Davey Jones, Bobby Sherman, Donny Osmond, Michael Jackson, Andy Gibb, David and Shaun Cassidy and Leif Garrett to name a few. These teen idols had it all. In reality, we'll have to wait a few years and see what legacy the new teen idols of today will be remembered for when it comes time to comparing the old teen idols of the past with the teen idols of today. Years have gone by and all of the teen idol's legacy of the past are well secure and intact today. Whenever legendary teen idols are brought up, all of the names above will always be mentioned. Those teen idol's of the past will never be forgotten. ROCK ON!

Let's not forget that boxing classic Barry "the butcher" Williams vs. Danny "Boom Boom" Bonaduce :D

Poor Barry was cowering like a fifth grader.....Ouch, don't hurt me !

The Partridge Family was done by the best studio musicians of another era. In that way they were like the Jackson 5, who had most of Motown's Fun Bros. playing on their early tunage. The Osmonds on the other hand were just gay little boys who mirrored themselves after singer Andy Williams and his gay barber shop quartet brothers.

Actually, I still have 45's of all this stuff. Hey, I was frickin' 10 !

How's it going "Bong-Man?" I remember those celebrity fights real well. One thing you can't deny about The Osmonds is that they could harmonize. The original four Osmonds Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay (Before Donny joined) have been harmonizing together since 1962. All those years of practicing paid off. One of the many reasons why I remember all of these teen idols, especially Donny is because all of my childhood girlfriends talked about nothing but Donny and had posters of Donny on their walls. In the late 60's and early 70's, there was no way of getting away from the talk and popularity of Donny Osmond, Bobby Sherman or David Cassidy. And because of this, it really rubbed off on me. When I saw The Osmonds live in 1971, I lost a lot of my hearing that night because the loud screams sounded so much like Beatlemania. If there would have been an explosion in the building or if a airplane flew low above the building, nobody would have ever heard it. The screaming was that loud. It was then that I became an Osmond fan.

As for the 45 RPM's, I still own all of the original LED ZEPPELIN, THE BEATLES and THE OSMONDS up to this very day. We'll have to chat more about the 45's real soon. In the mean time, ROCK ON!

I was surprised/bummed to realize that the new Jonas Bros. song sounds exactly like a Maroon 5 song. :( I really like Maroon 5; I think they get a bum rap from rock fans because they do have "catchy" tunes and the falsetto thing going on, but the lyrics are edgy and there are some good rock moments, esp. on the Songs About Jane cd. But sounding like the Jonas Bros. isn't going to do much for their credibility with rock fans ... :(

How's it going "Virginia?" Band controversy and Rock n' Roll seems to go hand in hand as history tells us repeatedly. As I'm sure that you are already well aware of, the Rock n' Roll world is mainly evolved around rebellion whose motto is simply defined as Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll. I have written so many different replies and comments for this comment you wrote but I ended up changing it so many times because I can discuss this comment in numerous details with with you all day. I really underestimated our fellow ZEPPELIN fanatics including yourself because all of you really know your shit when it comes to Rock n' Roll history. Thats why I love this thread because I can converse and discuss Rock n' Roll in general besides our favorite band which is LED ZEPPELIN. I am really looking forward to conversing more about Rock n' Roll history with all of you because I will usually come away learning something new. I'll be talking to you again soon, ROCK ON!

How's it going fellow die hard hard core ZEPPELIN fanatics? I am going to go out on a limb here and talk about a band that deserves to be mentioned among Rock's elite bands. You're probably asking yourself "why THE OSMONDS?" After discussing this band on a different thread with other fellow ZEPPELIN fanatics, I felt and decided that I would write a thread about them. Before you laugh me off the forum, please let me state my case. THE OSMONDS are a family band that needs no introduction. THE OSMONDS have managed to sell over 90 million albums worldwide and still counting and are still not in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame yet where they so rightly deserve to be. THE OSMONDS are a family band that never received their due recognition that they truly deserved. Donny Osmond has been officially voted as one of the all-time greatest Teen Idols ever. THE OSMONDS are the ONLY band (Besides Michael Jackson) that had loud screams at their early 1970's concerts that are about as close to Beatlemania as you're ever going to get. Beatlemania would later be called Osmondmania. I KNOW, I WITNESSED IT! The Donny & Marie show lasted four years and is considered to be one of the most highly successful TV shows in the 1970's. THE OSMONDS had a successful comeback this year (2008) at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas as well as in England. Every Osmond member including Donny can play every instrument (Guitar, Bass, Drums and Organ) consistantly well. THE OSMONDS are also known for their beautiful harmonizing which ranks them as one of the greatest harmonizing bands of all-time. With that in mind, THE OSMONDS are also known for playing Bubble Gum Music, Pop Music, Hard Rock Music, Soul Music, Disco Music and Country Music. How many bands can you say did all of that? For those of you who thought or believed that THE OSMONDS could not Rock n' Roll, I dare and challenge all of you to buy the PHASE III (1971), CRAZY HORSES (1972), THE PLAN (1973) and BRAINSTORM (1976) albums. Doing this, their Hard Rock Music will change your mind real quickly. When you hear Hard Rock songs such as "My Drum," "Don't Panic," "Hold Her Tight." "Crazy Horses," "We All Fall Down," "War In Heaven/Traffic In My Mind" and "Gotta Get Love," you will quickly realize that THE OSMONDS not only knew how to Rock n' Roll, they kicked ass when they Rocked. You're probably asking yourself, "how did THE OSMONDS get forgotten or lost in Rock n' Roll history?" Simple, the band unselfishly took a back seat and focused primarily as engineers, arrangers and producers on The Donny & Marie show with people thus forgetting all of the band's accomplishments and achievements as crucial years went by resulting in damaging the band's reputation as a Hard Rock band. Despite THE OSMONDS recording Hard Rock music against their father's wishes as well as their religious beliefs, the band did want to continue in pursuing in the direction of recording Hard Rock Music. Why, because the band had a goal in wanting to be the next LED ZEPPELIN. Believe it or not ZEPPELIN fanatics, THE OSMONDS were one of LED ZEPPELIN'S biggest fans. THE OSMONDS always believed that LED ZEPPELIN was the band to beat and top in the 1970's. Who would have ever believed that a family band like THE OSMONDS, of Mormon faith, could record and play Hard Rock music the way they did? It is just too bad that THE OSMONDS never received the recognition that they truly deserved. THE OSMONDS is a family band that were (And still is) loaded with limitless talent. I would also like to mention that I have always been in love with Marie Osmond and I always will. Now I ask all of you, my fellow ZEPPELIN fanatics your opinions and views on this legendary band. I welcome and value your comments whether they are positive or negative. Please enlighten me, ROCK ON!

How's it going fellow die hard hard core ZEPPELIN fanatics? HAPPY VETERANS DAY. It is now time to bring up THE OSMONDS one more time. I am 48 years old (Going on 20) and I just recently bought my 30 year old girlfriend an OSMONDS album on CD. It is the two albums on one CD entitled THE OSMONDS PHASE III / THE OSMONDS LIVE CD. MY GIRLFRIEND LOVES IT! This album ROCKS! Ok, it does have a little Bubble Gum music in it but it still sounds great. But when this album Rocks, it kicks! For those of you that have NEVER heard a live OSMONDS concert or experienced it live in their heyday in the early 1970's as I have, check out and listen to THE OSMONDS LIVE album from 1972. THIS IS OSMONDMANIA DISPLAYING THE TRUE SPIRIT OF BEATLEMANIA! I would highly advise you not to crank the volume high on this one or you're going to go deaf in both ears from the young loud screaming lungs of OSMONDMANIA. This is as close to BEATLEMANIA as you're ever going to get. ROCK ON!

Donny and Marie show was okay but I prefered Hee Haw. Marie was a hottie and she looks pretty good now, especially for a woman who's had eight kids.

How's it going "danelectro?" You're not the only one that is in love with Marie Osmond? I have always been in love with that woman. She looks like she is in her 20's and looks even better now than ever before. ROCK ON!

How's it going fellow die hard hard core ZEPPELIN fanatics? A new week is finally upon us. I figured that since I wrote a thread on THE OSMONDS, I should post all of the updates. There has been a lot of publicity and bashing going on within THE OSMONDS' family such as Donny's well publicized divorce, Marie's well publicized divorce, Marie's stepson going into rehab for drug addiction and last but not least, the most recent allegation that Marie's daughter is a lesbian. In my opinion, quite frankly, I really don't give a shit. All of these stories do not change my opinion of THE OSMONDS one bit. I have always liked THE OSMONDS' music and I always will. I will always respect THE OSMONDS' family values despite being Mormons. Please do not get me wrong, I am not a Mormon by all means. THE OSMONDS are a family like everybody else and they make mistakes just like everybody else. I have always been in love with Marie Osmond and I always will. For her age, Marie looks even hotter now than when she was younger. Now, I would like to get all of your thoughts, opinions and comments on THE OSMONDS' family situations. Please enlighten me. ROCK ON!

I have to admit I watch Dancing with the Stars and hope Donny makes it at least as far as Marie did. I have to watch it by myself since my husband can't stand watching the guys dance. But he always wants to know how the stars are doing in the ratings. I don't think Donny can make it to #1 but who knows?

Hi "ledzepfvr?" How are you doing? I think that Dancing With The Stars is great! I figured that if Ozzy Osbourne can be there and watch his daughter Kelly dance, as cool as he is, then it must be ok for anyone to watch. Then again, I just love seeing Marie there in the audience supporting her Brother Donny as he did for her while she was a contestant. I hope that Donny does go far in the competition, we'll just have to wait and see. I also hope that Kelly Osbourne does well in the competition. As for your hubby not liking to watch the guys, tell him to watch the beautiful women dance. There are some of the most beautiful women on that show that can really dance. I love to watch women dance! Watching women dance is like watching a beautiful work of art. My mother was a professional dancer when she was younger and she taught both my sister and I how to dance. My sister and I won a few dancing contests when we were younger. Both my sister and I used to love watching our mother dance, she could really move. My sister is one hell of a dancer. I love to go out and dance the night away to this very day. Thank you for your comment, take care and ROCK ON "ledzepfvr."

How's it going fellow die hard hard core ZEPPELIN fanatics? I hope that the week is treating all of you well. I just returned home yesterday a day early from Los Angeles (Laurel Canyon) as well as Sacramento, California after spending the remainder of my vacation over there. I had some great moments, but there were some bad moments as well. Oh well, as the saying goes, SHIT HAPPENS! Ha Ha!

I did get a chance to see some of DANCING WITH THE STARS on Monday, it appears that Donny Osmond is in 2nd place so far. Kelly Osbourne, on the other hand, had a rough Monday night but I truly feel that she will rebound next week. In the mean time, take care and ROCK ON FOREVER fellow ZEPPELIN fanatics!

How's it going everyone or should I say, fellow ZEPPELIN fanatics! I just thought that I'd give you a "Dancing With The Stars" update.

Tonight, Donny Osmond and his partner Kym Johnson had the highest score of the night with 29 out of a possible 30.

Also tonight. Kelly Orbourne and her partner Louis Van Amstel danced their way to a very good score of 24 out of 30. The song that Kelly and Louis danced to was none other than "Crazy Train" by her Dad Ozzy Osbourne. With Ozzy in the audience, he was proud and clapped with total approval.

So far, Donny and Kelly have continued to woo and meet the approval of all 3 judges. I hope that this continues to the very end of the show. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. ROCK ON FOREVER ZEPPELIN fans!

What happened to little Jimmy Osmond ? He seems to have fallen off the face of the Earth...just like Tito did.

Hey Bong-Man! How are you and your other half doing? Just like Tito? :hysterical: Thats a good one! Jimmy is the smart wiz in the family, he runs the OSMOND family theater in Branson, Missouri. From what I understand, the theater is a gold mine! ROCK ON FOREVER my friend!

Donny has been in the biz since he was a kid and Kelly is just starting out..I don't think it was a fair competition..

Juliet

He did have good showman ship as a performer but I thought Mya would win. She had better dancing moves than Donny. I think Donny himself was surprised he won.

Hello:

I didn't watch every episode because I'm usually at work in the eve..I know some Osmond tunes were used. Were any of Ozzy's tunes used?..I think you could waltz or minuet very well to No More Tears...

Cha-cha to Ironman..anyone?

Juliet :chickeddance:

Yes. Kelly danced to Crazy Train. It was one of her better dances early on and she got good scores for it. Don't remenber what style of dance it was though other than it was a fast paced dance, obviously. Ozzy was in the audience that time and he looked so proud when she was done.

I was a big Jackson 5 fan back in the 70's and initially dismissed The Osmonds as white-bread rip-off artists. I changed my mind after I watched their variety show back in the 70's. I realized that they were talented singers and Donny Osmond was a very good showman. I grew up in a church going family and participated in church youth activities myself so the Osmond's devout Mormonism wasn't as off-putting to me as it was to some.

Something else I just remembered: The Donny and Marie Show had kick-ass stylists. Marie Osmond always looked great. My sister and I (both teenagers at the time) would watch the show primarily to see what Marie would wear. Her stage outfits were always stylish and flattering yet age appropriate. Her hair always looked pretty without looking overdone. Ditto for her makeup. I remember my mother once remarked what a good job they were doing with her clothes', etc. and that Marie never wore anything on TV that she (my mom) wouldn't let me wear.
