  1. Chicken caesar salad from McAllisters.
  2. Thanks for that, dzldoc. I think I'll put that on my iPod.

  4. Tonight's episode of Cold Case featured his music throughout, and it was good to hear songs that you wouldn't automatically recognize.
  5. I really like it! Very festive and it's a welcome relief from the one we've had since this forum opened up.
  6. I have an iPod. I love it. So much easier than carrying around a CD player and CDs.
  7. I have the CD set The Complete Capitol Singles Collection and it's amazing. I just set my iTunes to shuffle and listen to that all night. I'm looking to get In The Wee Small Hours on vinyl as right now I only have it on CD. Great to see all your responses!
  8. Homemade cakes or any other kind of pastry always tastes better to me than store-bought anyhow.
  9. Agree on your worst, disagree on your best. For me, it was SIBLY in '72-'73. That's one of the few songs I think is better live than on record.
  10. Pumpkin Chiffon Pie Many of us who have had pumpkin chiffon pie can never go back to the traditional version. This is a light fluffy pie with the same spicy pumpkin flavor we are all accustomed to. I N G R E D I E N T S 1 9" baked pie shell or a 9" graham cracker crumb crust 1 tablespoon gelatin powder (such as Knox) 3 whole eggs, separated 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1 1/4 cup cooked, or canned pumpkin (or prepare fresh, see below) 1/2 cup milk 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoons each, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger 1/2 cup granulated white sugar 1/2 pint whipping cream for garnish (optional) I N S T R U C T I O N S Soak the gelatin 1/4 cup cold water. Beat the egg yolks slightly and combine in the top of a double boiler, the brown sugar, pumpkin, milk and the salt and spices. Cook and stir these ingredients over boiling water until thick. Stir in the soaked gelatin until dissolved. Remove from the cook top and chill until mixture begins to set. Whip until stiff, but not dry the 3 egg whites. Gradually stir in the: 1/2 cup white sugar, then fold into the pumpkin mixture. Fill the pie shell. Chill several hours to set. Serve garnished with: Whipped cream
  11. Post your favorite songs/albums, photos, YouTube clips, etc,. I did a search and didn't see a thread like this and if one exists and I missed it, my apologies. I'll start it off: Fave song: Always Fave album: In The Wee Small Hours Fave photo:
  12. One More For My Baby - Frank Sinatra
  13. Ooh, here's another one I forgot. You have to spend the same amount on everyone, and at least one gift must be handmade.
  14. When my sister and I were younger we did, but now that we're both in our 20s, not so much. We do watch White Christmas on Christmas Eve and then the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which is nice because we can eat s'mores. Okay, so I shouldn't say we have none because there are some things we do every year, it's just not as involved. For example, when we were younger, our parents would take us downtown to see the giant tree in Daley Plaza, then over to Marshall Fields to see the windows and then to Berghoffs for dinner. That was every year from as far as I can remember to when we moved out of Chicago. Nowdays, we just do what I mentioned above and make a lot of Christmas cookies. I think from the 18th to the 25th, all you smell in our house is baking cookies. It's fun.
  15. When that kid is 16, I hope he comes to his senses and sues for legal emancipation and then changes his name.
  16. There is a difference between refusing to write "Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler Campbell" on a birthday cake and reading a history book and coming across the name and then having a panic attack. That I agree, is ridiculous. The first situation though.....no, I can't agree that it's ridiculous. You name your child Adolf Hitler, you deal with the consequences of that choice. Sorry. It's a free country, you can name your kid Dogshit McSmellyPants if you want. But you don't get to feign disgust when other people look at you like you're a degenerate freak for doing so. And I'm sorry, neo-Nazis are degenerate freaks.
  17. I don't know, but it shouldn't be us. I'm aware that a good chunk of this planet probably couldn't defend itself militarily if it had to, but that doesn't mean the United States should be spend its money, resources and manpower playing "Team America: World Police - The Home Game". No one is suggesting we should be isolationist, but that doesn't mean we need to be constantly our big fat ass where it doesn't need to be.
  18. I think she should be strung up by her snatch, if it's any consolation. I don't care what the genders of the parties are, a 13 year old is not an acceptable sexual partner for someone. Seriously, WTF is wrong with you that you both can't find someone your own age to screw and think a 13 year old is sexually attractive?
  19. It's either a Kennedy or a Cuomo. I'd prefer Caroline, I think she has a greater capacity for fundraising and shining some light on NY issues, just because of her name recognition. I know it's not a qualification and it shouldn't be, but it also shouldn't be a knock against her either.
  20. Of course it was fucking funny, it was a SHOE! If the guy threw a rock, or a hand grenade or a knife or any other object that could kill/commit severe bodily harm, that would NOT be funny. A shoe is funny. A beach ball is funny. A water balloon is funny. For God's sake, he wasn't hurt and he clearly had enough of a sense of humor to joke about it afterward. Take after Bush (God forbid) and lighten up, Francis.
  21. Which is why when I hear people say "We need to save America for the Americans", I wonder just what in the hell they're talking about. This country doesn't belong to us anymore than it belongs to anyone else. As you said, the lands that encompass this country have passed through many hands.
