  1. I prefer HTWWW overall. The way the band neutered the intro on TSRTS version and the weakness of the vocals and chorus kind of ruins it for me. Part of the greatness of WLL is the tension and release of the opening riff by Jimmy, then Jones joining on bass, and finally Bonzo crashing in on the first chorus. But I do prefer the theremin section on TSRTS to HTWWW, and the finale is great, too. Frankly, my ideal WLL would be a Frankenstein version. The main part of the song, verses and chorus from a good-sounding 1970-72 performance, say Montreux or Ft. Worth 70 or Berkeley 71. Then I would insert the funky break and theremin bit from one of the March or May 75 shows. The Boogie-medley part would be a combination of any good Let That Boy Boogie-You're So Square Baby I Don't Care from 1973, Hello Mary Lou-Let's Have a Party-Slow Down from 6.25.72 or 9.14.71, I Gotta Know-Twist & Shout from 9.29.71, Bottle Up & Go-Some Other Guy from 9.19.70, and I Can't Quit You from 3.24.73. Then I would have the ending be from MSG 73. Maybe that could be a project for some mad scientist out there...ledzepfilm perhaps?
  2. You are always welcome anywhere planted! We welcome sports and non-sports fans alike. Any Fireman's chili on the menu as well?
  3. Some monkey picked Seattle and supposedly he's picked the last six Super Bowl winners. I think the NFL channel has been in endless pre-game mode since the end of the conference championships. Of course we'll be with you during the game! I'll be focused mainly on the game and my friends at hand, but I'll try to check on here when I can during the game.
  4. To sort of cleanse my mind and meditate before the onslaught of Super Bowl Sunday, I'm seeing these two films tonight: http://www.americancinemathequecalendar.com/content/baraka-samsara-0
  5. What happened to the end, though?
  6. Walter, is it something that will require medical care or more like emotional healing? Good wishes either way and best of luck to you all.
  7. Bloodhounds on My Trail You on the Run You In Color Empire
  8. I really don't understand why they aren't played on the radio...well, since radio sucks, I suppose that's why. As an ex-military man, I appreciate that quite a few of their songs deal with being a soldier and warfare/killing. Young Men Dead The First Vietnam War Broken Soldier The Sniper at the Gates of Heaven
  9. One of the best bands around today, Austin's The Black Angels are back on tour, and this time they are touring with fellow Austinite Roky Erickson, a legend from his days with the 13th Floor Elevators, one of the first psychedelic rock bands. So if you haven't yet made it to a Black Angels show, now is a good time to do so, as they are hitting the East, Midwest and Southern parts of the U.S. and Canada this month. The tour began last night in Lawrence, Kansas and continues tonight in St. Louis, MO. 10. Absolutely a fan of Mr. Lightfoot!
  11. Could have sworn someone started a "Pole dancing for exercise" thread but after searching and searching through the last 24 pages of topics, I gave up and decided to put this here. http://youtu.be/c9FS1bxaGTg
  12. Bumping this up for this year's Super Bowl, especially since we have some newcomers like pottedplant that have joined our little football gathering.
  13. If it was rugby I would put ten-bob on the Aussies. Footie? I don't think so.
  14. Bong-Man is on Team Seattle, too, I believe...Paul should have the particulars noted. We're still waiting on jb126's pick. Rick, I feel confident that Seattle will pressure Manning. I wouldn't have picked them otherwise, and as I wrote in my first post yesterday, Super Bowl experience is often overrated, so the fact that Manning is a vet and Wilson a newbie shouldn't matter. I know Seattle is going bonkers...my mom lives there and my sister lives in Bellingham. It's Saturday before Super Bowl 4/20...and I made it through the entire two week wait without having to hear Skip Bayless or Stephen A. Smith open their yaps. Whew. I'm actually looking forward to the National Anthem, as they got a real singer for a change, instead of some pop strumpet. Hooray Renée Fleming! Got my wine and beer contributions ready for the Super Bowl bash...I'll be attending at a friend's party. Oh, and in line with the theme of this year's Super Bowl, there will be some primo ganja. Too bad Mr. and Mrs. CP can't make it.
  15. All I know is that the U.S. will not win the Cup.
  16. Nice work ledzepfilm and Pagemeister. Another undervalued and underused song in the concert repertoire. I definitely preferred the EC '75 versions to the ones they played in 1972. This should have been carried over to the 1977 tour setlist. jb126, some audience tapes have the backing vocals more noticeable than the soundboards.
  17. In case you have forgotten, NBA Commish David Stern steps down officially tomorrow. http://m.si.com/3831816/a-time-for-reflection/ Easily one of the most important sports figures in history, and he definitely helped the NBA get to where they are today.
  18. You're comparing peanut butter and chocolate with herring and whipped cream? Hmmmm...
  19. Relax, pottedplant. I'm easy-peasy. You don't have to agree with me or think the way I do. If there's one thing a lifetime of betting on sports has taught me it's that nobody knows anything, hahaha. Actually, my first instinct for Super Bowl IV/XX was to pick Denver. But that's when my memory kicked in on those old failed bets of mine. By the way, I had the Who Dats over the Colts in 2010 Super Bowl. When Brady won his Super Bowls, you'll also find that New England's defense was ranked very high, too. The last two Super Bowls he lost against the Giants, the defense wasn't as strong. And, as Rick will gleefully note, the Patriots haven't won a championship since Spy-gate. For all that I believe about defense winning championships and picking Seattle, I can see Denver thrashing Seattle as well. That's why they play the game...in sports, nothing is written.
  20. Paul, you've gotta try these! Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups!
  21. March 7, 1970 Montreux. Just got the Montreux Concerts book by Sam Rapallo to read along with the concert.
