  1. I'm not talking about being off-topic, I'm referring to the endless chit-chat that could just as easily take place via PM's.
  2. This board has a handy little thing called the PM feature. Perhaps y'all ought to give it a try sometime.
  3. According to Q Magazine, Ryan Adams will have a new album out this Fall called Ashes and Fire. Song titles include: Dirty Rain, Kindness, Till I Found You, Lucky Now. Produced by Glyn Johns and features Norah Jones and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' organist Benmont Tench. A tour of the UK is also apparently in the works for the Fall.
  4. Not Zep related as they never played here but the Boathouse in Norfolk, VA is a fine example of a once thriving venue (it was severely damaged by a hurricane several years ago) that has just been left to rot. There's a group of folks in that area who are very interested in bringing it back to life but they're up against some pretty insurmountable odds, namely the $$$$ to pull it off. Meanwhile, it's become an eyesore and is polluting the body of water surrounding it. According to the what I've read, the powers that be in Norfolk are perfectly ok with that and are making no efforts to demolish or salvage it. Sad.
  5. One of my favorite skits from the heyday of SNL. Makes me feel bad for those that missed out on the days when the Album Oriented Rock format meant just that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzne77cKdqc
  6. I'm not waiting for a reunion tour. If one happens, that'd be great but I'm not waiting for one. What I'd actually like to see is Page finally delivering on releasing some new music, which he has been promising for so very long now. I thought some news of it might materialize with the debut of the website but alas, nothing. Plant "constantly" puts Zeppelin down? That's a new one on me. So, his site doesn't make mention of his time in Led Zeppelin, maybe because it's meant to focus on his solo career? The webmaster here has a hand in that site, so maybe he could shed some light on that aspect of it. It's not as though Plant designed it himself. So, if Plant wanted to increase his bank account, don't you think he'd actually pursue a big money reunion tour with the other surviving members of Led Zeppelin? Instead, he's following his heart by pursuing his true muse. It doesn't have a damn thing to do with $$$$$.
  7. Some vintage Mother's Finest from back in the day: http://youtu.be/vtTzmwDtgOU
  8. Been hearing a lot about her in recent years but only got around to listening to some of her stuff in the past few months. May have to check her out the next time she and the Nocturnals roll into town. I understand former Cardinal (Ryan Adams' backing band) Catherine Popper is her bass player these days. That can't hurt either.
  9. Thanks for the good word. In all honesty, the only song I remember getting any significant airplay in these parts was "Khe Sanh" but I've alway loved that song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv24elfqC-I
  10. Widespread Panic has also been known to dabble in Zep and Sabbath territory when it comes to covers. I'm not a huge fan but I seem to prefer when they stick to what they know instead of trying to scare the "hippies" (or so they refer to themselves).
  11. Is this Steve referring to himself in the third person or is this Steve Jones an entirely different person?
  12. It's been years since I've seen it but as I recall, the VH1 Legends feature on Zeppelin was well done. I haven't seen the newer Biography but I'm guessing they didn't use actual Zeppelin music because they didn't have permission or couldn't afford the licensing fees. I'm no legal eagle so I'm not sure how all of that works but I could definitely see where it would detract from the overall presentation. If there ever was an "official" full length Zeppelin documentary, I seriously doubt any of the surviving members would even cooperate since there's so many sides to every story and at least a couple folks (namely John Bonham and Peter Grant) are no longer here to speak for themselves. Having said that, I find it strange that the newer Biography special had the ok from Page, Plant and Jones, at least according to the description on the Biography website.
  13. Too bad. Seems like that sort of stuff would be caught during editing by someone that actually knows their Zeppelin/Yardbirds.
  14. That time of the month again?
  15. It's 666 here in the Cackalack. Should I be a feared to watch? They'll probably just show reverse footage anyway...
  16. A blast from the past: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLrSyEfdunI
  17. If you're interested in a sort of "then and now" perspective on old venues Zeppelin played you'll probably enjoy this thread: A Walk Down Memory Lane: The Houses of the Holy; The rise and fall of various concert venues
  18. If you check the original thread you'll see there's two Zeppelin programs being broadcast on the Biography channel tonight. The second one (Led Zeppelin: Dazed and Confused), which airs at 10 pm ET, is evidently the new one.
