  1. On No Quarter from Salt Lake '73... the way the theramin sounds like a Nazgul scream from Lord of The Rings. Super eerie.
  2. Totally!!! Page's solo is one of his all time greatest IMO. Wish they'd do a new cut with alternate footage of the band playing. Honestly those "fantasy sequences " always bum me out as I'd much rather see them playing than watching that self-indulgent attempt at "art". Except for Bonzos which is down to earth and unpretentious.
  3. Yeah, seems right . The bass is playing a C though so that Gmin over C gives it a SUS kind of sound. He definitely voices it with the D up on top. I can see why Bluecongo thought of it as some type of altered C9 chord. Sounds like it the video above he says its a G min in an inversion. I'm not a guitarist but I think it's possible to make out the voicing he's playing in the video, no ?
  4. It sounds to me like a G7 #9 chord, voiced B, F, Bb, D ...maybe I'm just hearing that b natural and it's not really there.
  5. It could be worth several hundred dollars depending on the issue, where it was pressed, the condition. Check discogs.com for comparable copies. You'll have to compare matrix numbers , pressing plant codes etc. which are found in the dead wax runoff.
  6. Sorry if this is an ignorant question but...was the band actually taped for projection screens , or were the images just simply projected?
  7. Poor Naptown, no love. Not much happening there but its not all that bad, they have an excellent art museum, some decent restaurants. One of the greatest guitarists ever is from there....Wes Montgomery, so that's a point of pride for that town.
  8. Word! Empress Valley, if you're reading this. I for one will buy your release of Sept 28 1971 SBD. Just please don't make it a $400 combo with the AUD only. A 3 disc set, priced realistically, please.
  9. I've seen comments that say Empress Valley has threatened this may be their last SBD exclusive release. Exactly what does that mean? Are they going to hoard what they have forever , or destroy the tapes they've acquired ?? Or return them for their money back?? Or, maybe they don't own Zep anymore boards?? Maybe one thing they can do is offer a fairly reasonable 4 disc set of just the SBD. I think there are plenty of fans who would drop $100 -$150 for the artwork and the silvers. Even after downloading it just to hear it asap. Collector mentality. I've succumbed to the temptation from time to time.
  10. I'm in the same boat with you. Everytime I see new listings from high volume sellers it pisses me off. Total double standard. They must scapegoat a few sellers from time to time to appease the VROs . There are so many sellers that do high volume bootleg sales for years on eBay. It's not like they'd be hard to find and shut down. Discogs was at least another market for individuals to buy and sell from their private collection but now that's going away.
  11. I like it, keeps things interesting and bizarre. Thanks for this, a breath of air...sort of fresh.

    Bonzo

Love this! Dig the disapproving look from the lady. Wonder if this was from the ill fated Milan gig trip?
  13. I mostly agree with this , although this show ( 3/17 ) kind of peters out after Moby Dick. It starts out really strong , and focused but Roberts voice becomes weaker after TUF, with lots more straining and split notes in Dazed and through the end. Also, Jimmy's fluency is not so great on Dazed, and his solo on Stairway sounds meandering and unfocused . WLL is way too long and uninspired in the jam and the Crunge is more like the Cringe! Another show like that is Baton Rouge 75. First two thirds are kick ass and last third is more slap ass. I think the playing and energy on the 21st was more consistent from start to finish and I'm really keen to hear that board tape.
  14. RAH should be officially released tout suite as it's all pretty much ready to go. Makes no sense to keep that in the warehouse. Earls Court compilation at the very least , if they're not willing to do a complete show, like 5/24 or 25. Far as I understand , those are the only two nights that were multi- tracked, although my no. 1 choice would be 5/18. . I also think a best of Copenhagen Warm Ups would be a very welcome release. Anyone know if those shows were multi-tracked?
  15. Thanks. Yes, there is some occasional phasing . I basically used approx a 70% board to 30% ratio, but varied from track track depending on the sonics differences/ instrumentation etc. As Sue Dounim pointed out, it's very tricky to achieve a happy medium with that board tape. It's either boost the highs for more clarity and brightness or deal with the muffled dry sound minus less harsh upper freqs. I'll send you the whole show, see what you think. Again, I think a matrix by Winston or someone more skilled would be choice...but I still think this is a vastly more enjoyable listen than the pure SBD. Too bad Plant was having an off night. Some major gaffs in this show. Great playing and interaction on this show.
  16. I live in the US and it's the same. Many titles have been removed and blocked. I've been on discogs for several years and never saw anything like this. Warner must be on the warpath again like they do on eBay... athough titles by other artists are blocked as well. Makes me wonder if some of the bootleg sellers in Japan are flagging titles on discogs to eliminate competition.
  17. Thought I'd bump this thread , as this post from SAJ is very thought provoking. When I see pics of them performing on July 24 77, I can't help feel that gloom one sees in photos of a crowd just before a disaster hits.
