  1. Gotta go w/majority opinion here. Love the song, studio and live, and I think it went well merged w/RR in '75. My complaint in '75 is that they pretty much played it by the numbers (3-21 and esp. 3-27 being exceptions), not much ad libbing (unlike its '73 analog, Celebration Day, which almost always had some nice outro jams by Page).
  2. I was thinking exactly this. DP put out the complete '72 Japanese shows several years ago, I would love to hear the complete NY '73 shows from Zep.
  3. No problem. I'm really enjoying the Zep Sirius channel when I'm on the road and such (despite too many repeats), but I really doubt that we're going to hear anything we haven't heard before.
  4. I heard it, nice raw, short version. I'm almost positive it's the 1969 version from the BBC official release, but I need to re-listen later tonight on a different computer to confirm.
  5. Finally heard JPJ make some commentary between songs this morning. And then heard The Rain Song for the third time so far (after hearing The Crunge for a second time). At least they've played live STH (from HTWWW).
  6. Here's a complaint: I've heard Night Flight, Rain Song, and YTIGC each twice today. No complaint about the music, but surely there's enough material to not have to double-dip three times on the very first day?
  7. They played Ramble On from the O2 concert this morning. Re. D&C, a good 18+ minutes then? That's reasonable, I'm hoping they don't have too many time restrictions although I'm guessing allocating a full half hour of airtime to one song would be a bit much to hope for.
  8. I am curious how adventurous they'll get in terms of official live stuff. E.g. will they play D&C from TSRTS, or TU from the Earl's Court segment of the DVD?
  9. It's cool, good for a sustained Zeppelin fix when I don't feel like scrolling through my phone or computer song catalog. Band commentary between songs is moderately interesting. Mainly good for revisiting certain songs/versions that might get passed over (e.g. I'd forgotten how good the studio version of Moby Dick is).
  10. This sounds very cool, I'll definitely check it out, although I assume the probability of any kind of unreleased/live material is zero?
  11. Good idea. There's likely some connection between all of these viruses that seem to originate in China, although I'm not entirely sure what the big picture is yet.
  12. Here's a fantastic cover (by the Lamb of God guitarist):
  13. I would have kept The Crunge (I agree it has a certain funky appeal), and replaced D'Yer Maker with HOTH.
  14. To be fair, while it's certainly not a good recording, it's not as bad as many people say, either (some parts are definitely rougher than others). Definitely better than some other great shows that are marred by the terrible recording (like Nassau '72 or Baltimore '73).
  15. I recall an interview Blackmore did w/Rainbow in '76 in Australia where he said he had to trade w/Hughes to get Soldier of Fortune on the album, in exchange to agreeing to play one of Hughes' funkier songs (can't remember which one). Speaking of which, here's another great cover:
  16. Stormbringer is too inconsistent. If you took the best songs from the first Rainbow album and combined them with the best songs from Stormbringer, you'd have an excellent DP album.
  17. Blackmore's muttonchops are really cool. The 70's were a great time.
  18. This is surprising, it's a really great song, should've been on the album. Metallica does an amazing cover of it:
  19. Brilliant version, yes; great video montage too, even though the song wasn't played at the Cal Jam. In general all the songs from the Euro '75 tour that were released since the late 90's (Archive Alive, Graz, Paris, etc.) are far superior (in performance and sound quality) to Made In Europe, it's almost like DP's management picked the worst versions for release after the band broke up in '76. Maybe they were giving a middle finger on the way out.
  20. I think Montreal deserves mention, the recording is distant but clear, and a great performance.
  21. A couple of standouts: "Please delete this website" "Fuck you, Mike. You are a loser. This is complete garbage. Long walk, short dock" "Mazzarone, you're a douche bag of epic proportions. Eat shit and die fucktard"
  22. Here's this, which I assume is a collection of the best sources, but you can search the '75 shows from the main page: http://starship.jpn.ph/zeppelin/beauty/file/index.jsp?R_date=1975/03/12
  23. I think there have been two new sources with much better sound quality to appear recently, you should definitely check out the link posted earlier in this thread. 3-12 is an all-time great show.
