  1. It wasn't - but it snowed in Sheffield for about 40 minutes this afternoon! I wouldn't go so far as to say it made me happy, but...slightly less worse?
  2. Cattle Rippers. Comb-over. The Inadequates. Your Mum.
  3. Maybe he'd've been a more interesting painter and not bothered with the rest of it, eh...
  4. It's absolutely vile, here. It's March. It should be cloudy, cold and raining. But no, the sun's out in a bright blue, cloudless sky. It's 20 degrees and threatening to be higher tomorrow. WTF?! Every asshole in a five-minute radius is out in their garden making a goddamned racket and I'm sat in with the windows shut and a killing tension headache from listening to em. October can't come soon enough.
  5. Hush up, you damn degenerates! We didn't beat the Nazis on the wacky baccy, you know - we had backbone and stiff upper lip! Well, and masses of amphetamines, but...oh, yeh...
  6. Lads, lads, it's not compulsory to 'keep up', y'know - especially if it's an emperor's new clothes job and your eyes can't tell the difference between 4k and anything above it, anyway. Just say no - if you don't buy it, they'll stop making it. Mind you, it's like 2005 in my house, so don't listen to me...
  7. I was at this gig. The stage was set up like some sort of medieval ruin and Tony Iommi appeared out of a damn coffin...
  8. Sorry you copped for that, Chillum - I had flu once, so I can imagine the horror! Glad it was relatively short-lived in the end. Bet every hour felt like a day, though, eh! Christ.
  9. What Strider said. Have to say, I don't hear anything slick about Led Zeppelin III - tape hiss, cut-off intros, squeaky bass drum pedals, false starts, Hats Off To Roy Harper...where is this slick? And surely Friends has as much sorcery and pagan otherness as anything they did? Interesting how other people can perceive the same things so differently, though.
  10. I've never danced. Literally, never. White, Northern, working class, English and male - it wouldn't be wise...
  11. Yes, I remember the sense of 'WTF?!' when I first heard that! Complete joke. 🙄
  12. That's the one I had, Chillum - and I felt no ill effects at all. Nowt. Experiences vary, apparently! Hope it goes easy, mate.
  13. Sorry to hear this - I've met very, very few decent gaffers, let alone really good ones. All the arseholes in the world, but it's one of the rare good ones who goes? Fux sake. Sorry, man.
  14. Appalling weather here - cloudless, sunny sky and mild as fook. It's mid-March, but the weather's like the end of April. In Yorkshire?! FFS. October can't come quickly enough.
  15. I really, really don't want the likes of Kevin Shirley getting near the tapes again, though - the cheek of that clown destroying Bonzo's drum sound so that 'it sounded tighter' to his cloth ears! I know Jimmy must've signed off on it but...FFS...
  16. Yes, I remember the first time I played Last Concert In Japan and the Hammond played the riff to Burn! 😲 I improved the whole album once - I had a Teac two-track, where you could take one channel and put it into mono across both channels. For my own amusement, I taped the lp but put the single channel that Bolin's in across both left and right channels - Burn was still dodgy, but the rest of it sounded infinitely better. Far better than Simon Robinson's later official remix, simply because the guitar was much louder! 😄 One weird thing about it, though - Bolin was in the left channel, so that was the one I spread across both in mono...but the solo in Lady Luck was in the right channel. On the whole lp, that one solo was the only guitar part that was in a different channel. Made me wonder if it'd been overdubbed. Shame, cos that live solo on LCIJ is way better than the one Tommy played on the studio version of Lady Luck.
  17. Yes, indeed. I thought it was hilarious when the authors tried to sue Dan Brown for stealing their ideas, but because they'd presented Holy Blood as a factual book the judge said it was legitimate source material for a fictional work! Brilliant - if they'd fessed up from the start that it was hogwash, they'd've stung Brown for plenty. Almost karmic! Ere, Professor Ian Wood, author of The Merovingian Kingdoms, was the external examiner for my MA dissertation - no pressure, then!
  18. Jesus and Mary Magdalene? About as likely as Merovech's mam shagging that sea monster, eh! 😄
  19. That's what the Carolingians said when they petitioned the Pope to remove the Merovingians and make them kings of Francia! 😆
