  1. Gotcha. For me, listening to a Zep show begins and ends with Pagey. Him being "on" certainly isn't the only metric, but it's the primary one for me. So my top shows for 75 all have Page having a great night. But they do sound like they're having a good ol time, and that in itself makes it fun for lots of fans I'm sure.
  2. I have this weird feeling Cincinnati is gonna take it, Don't know why. In other news, the Dolphins have a new HC with Mike McDaniel. Not sure how I feel about that, but he will def be better for the offense than Flores. I also have an ugly feeling they're gonna lose Xaiven Howard who is absolutely the star of that team. If he goes, their chances of playoffs next year take a massive nosedive.
  3. Yes it is! And apparently Squeaky Fromme (pun intended) was in attendance that night. Her psychotic shrieks of delight really add something to the ambience.
  4. I liked your original review of this show better. 😂 You know what I like about the nitpicks? You remove your own opinion/feeling of the show from the equation and just look at it from a purely technical/analytical perspective. To me, that's fun and interesting. Music is highly subjective, and we all like what we like but it's cool to see something from different perspectives. It gives us a clearer view of the "whole". And it's fun to hunt for the gold with some of those overlooked shows, as you've pointed out before. Having said all that, this show has never really clicked with me and I've had it since the 80s. It's always sounded like they're trying too hard or maybe are too coked up or something. Like that scene in Boogie Nights where Mark Wahlberg and the other guy are convincing each other how much they rock lol ("All day, all night, you FEEL - my HEAT Feel-feel-feel feel my heat") I think when you first did your original nitpick, you received a lot of backlash from the forum because it's such a massively popular show. And when I saw the revised one, I was like "aw man, he capitulated to popular opinion" lol. I thought it was weird that no one else on the forum was like "yeah this show IS kinda overrated". People get touchy about things they're very attached to tho - be it music, religion, politics, whatever. Anyway, I hope this message is coming across the right way. I greatly enjoy the nitpicks and am glad you're doing them. I just thought I'd throw my own voice into the mix. The solo on OTH IS a mess, and I think the show in general is overrated. Not a bad show at all but certainly not as killer as everyone seems to think (imho of course). I think Robert being in great voice influences a lot of peoples opinion on this tbh.
  5. Very cool! Totally agree with that. The Hollies in their mid 60s prime were one of the great garage bands of the era. I can't help but think MES didn't listen to the Hollies before forming the Fall as they were local boys like him (as the Fall essentially was garage rock mixed with whatever MES felt like that week).
  6. I'll, be damned, you've heard of MES!! Did you actually meet him? If so, please PM me. I want to hear the stories! I'm a huge Fall fan, and this is way off topic here lol. I haven't heard of John Cooper Clarke, just looked him up on wiki. He's had quite a life! I'll have to look more into his stuff. "The North will rise again The North will rise again Not in 10,000 years Too many people cower to criminals And government crap" - NWRA, The Fall
  7. Peet's is bomb. I remember the fist time I had their coffee .. you look into the bins where the beans are on display, and they're all shiny. The extra oil is what gives it all the extra caffeine. They don't do put it on display anymore, but I thought it was cool when they did.
  8. Here's some geeky shit for anyone interested: the caffeine found in mate and matcha has a slightly different chemical composition than the caffeine found in coffee and black tea. Coffee and black tea hits your central nervous system in a different way than the caffeine found in matcha and mate. With coffee, you get a big spike then a crash comes a few hours later. With matcha and mate, you get the same alertness but it's much gentler on the CNS.You get the rise in alertness and it maintains for a steady 4-6 hours. Additionally, the two different caffeine types are synergistic - they work very well together. On top of all THAT, if you drink enough of match or mate, you get a slight buzz and feeling of euphoria. My morning routine is to throw some matcha (it's a powder) into my protein shake and also have a few cups of strong black tea. Works like a charm. 😀
  9. This sounds like something Mark E. Smith would say (of the mighty Fall). He was the proudest, surliest, craziest Northerner you've ever met (Prestwich) 😛
  10. SPECIAL BONUS ANSWER: "One thing I do have on my mind, and if you can clarify .. please do. It's the way etc .." These lyrics are SO BAD but at the same time all kinds of awesome. Barney: "Umm ... Betty? Something I've been meaning to ask you ..." Betty: "Yes?" Barney: "When we have our special time, I couldn't help but notice ... you keep calling me Fred. But my name's Barney. Sorry to bring it up, but it's concerning me. It's been 14 times now. I was hoping you could clarify?"
  11. No way!! SF needs to keep the 49ers name. Mainly, so that when guys talk shit about the women in SF (it is BAD out there), they can continue to say "yeah, she's a 49er". This is code for a girl who is a 4 and acts like she's a 9. Which is a thing in the bay area 😂
  12. This reminds me ... the Washington Commandos would have been badass. But after googling, turns out there already was one in the Arena Football League from way back when.
  13. Likewise! Totally agree, it's so important to be able to talk to people you disagree with in a respectful way. 🤞
  14. So, by that logic a kid paying his way through school or a single mom should work construction in negative temperatures? Service jobs ARE real jobs. In a functional capitalist system, they're perfect transitional jobs for people who are working towards upwards mobility. It's the perfect job for someone paying their way through school or someone who hasn't figured out what they want to do yet - or someone who just doesn't have the skill set to do much else. A lot of times the waiter you see will have more than one job. When I was in my 20s, I usually had 2 jobs, sometimes 3. In the 70s, a single mom could be a bank teller AND support herself and 2 kids. That time is long gone. Thank God for service jobs that rely on tips. Your argument is weak, bruh. You're basically saying: "the entire system needs to change, and until that happens I won't tip these hard-working people." W-E-A-K. Also - unless you have actually worked in the industry, you really have no idea what you're talking about. The signs that are up everywhere that read : "help wanted now" are all shit jobs. Why do you think people wait tables and bartend? They're trying to pay the bills. Working at Safeway is not going to cut it. I can see there's no getting through to you, but I also kinda figured that out before posting about this lol. We can agree to disagree, that's fine.
  15. We will have to agree to disagree on that one. Yes, I'm sure the service in Croatia is more generous, and the people and workers there are much more thankful for what they have. I don't doubt that for a second. But that's a horrible metric to use when deciding what to tip (or in your case, to tip at all) here in the states. "Well, in country fill-in-the-blank they're more grateful and therefore give better service so you don't get a tip today" does not work for me at all. Perhaps the waitress you stiffed at Chilil's has a creepy boss who hits on her and micromanages, and perhaps she has a couple of kids to feed and is a single mom who needs that income. Perhaps the 21 year-old you decide to stiff is on his/her own and paying their way through school. Perhaps $8/hr or whatever minimum wage is is not enough to pay the bills. Try putting yourself in someone else's shoes (this is called compassion, btw). Honestly, your argument sounds more like rationalization (and weak rationalization at that) because you just don't wanna fork over the extra money.
  16. Great assessment. This show is a recent fav of mine, I love it. Jimmy absolutely carried this one. My theory is that Robert and Bonzo partied harder than normal the night before and didn't sleep much. You can hear they're both dragging ass but slowly get into the groove as the night goes on. In typical Zep fashion, they rally by WLL and the encores. I also love the stuff he's doing in the DAC outro. It's from "White Summer" but not the full-on song version so it's more "White Summer-ish" which I actually like a lot better. He's playing with those guitar lines to suit the solo. Very pretty, Eastern and trippy-sounding like something you'd hear from the Dead. It probably says something about my personality that I love these "underdog" shows so much lol (straying off topic a little here). The shows where they start off tepid but then get stronger and really come through at the end are some of my favs.
  17. There's a special place in hell for people who don't tip in the US. It's not an easy job, and waiters/bartenders rely almost entirely on tips to survive. You know how in Israel, every citizen has to be in the military for a period of time? I think we should have the same requirement here in the states, except everyone needs to wait tables for a year lol. Then people might get it. Of course, depending on where someone works is going to determine the kind of customer and chance of getting stiffed. For instance, people who work at Applebee's are more likely for that to happen then a fancy restaurant. I waited tables and bartended all through my 20s and loved it. I never got stiffed, but I also worked at upscale places in a nice area. My tips were on average 20% (I was good). But without them - no way I would have been able to pay the bills. Also - you bust your ass. Not an easy job.
  18. Yeah, exactly. Each show has its own atmosphere that you can really feel, especially with the aud recordings. And like you - say an ebb and flow for sure.
  19. 😂😂 This is all kinds of true. I've had a number of black friends over the years and dated a number of black girls - including ones whose parents are straight up Africans - and I have never once met anyone who celebrated this. It cracks me up because on LinkedIn when the holidays come around all the virtue-signaling "Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa and WHATEVER you celebrate!!" - is through the roof lol. It's like dude (or chick), please just shut the eff up and say happy holidays, no one cares about your virtue cred.
  20. It would be a FRanKenSTein mix-up, sound-wise. So, wouldn't flow too well if I actually tried to put that list together and listen to it
  21. Nice! 😛 I'm in Niners territory and am so glad they lost but have been keeping quiet about it. Actually, here in Sac I'd guess there are more Raiders fans vs Niners, but with all the transplants from the bay area the past few years, I'd say it's 50-50 now
  22. If I were to put together a set list of "best of"s it would look like this. Granted, I would never listen to it because it would be jarring, but these are my favs all put together for one show: Rock and Roll - 3/12 Long Beach Sick Again - 2/8 Philly Over the Hills - 5/25 EC IMTOD - 2/28 Baton Rouge SRTS - 2/7 MSG** Rain Song - 5/24 EC Kashmir - 5/24 EC No Quarter - 5/18 EC Acoustic Set - 5/24 EC Dazed - 5/17 EC Stairway - 5/24 EC WLL - 3/20 Vancouver HB - 2/8 Philly CB - 2/13 Nassau *Bonus Tracks: Wanton Song and HMMT from 1/22 Chicago ** SRTS was a close call between 2/7 and 2/8 but I just love the feel of 2/7 version. Also, if 3/10 SB ever surfaces, I could see it being a winner
