  1. ... I'd rather see them do something new than not at all... R
  2. I believe there is a narrow thread of time for them (Plant, Page, JPJ and Jason) to ever do it and now is the time. R
  3. nice man purse. Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode. R
  4. maybe one of those "one-offs" will be a future concert in Russia, who knows??? Let's wait and see. R
  5. I had a whole tape in the 80s labeled with Zep song abbreviations and the four symbols drawn on the side of the tape case at my place. A friend came over that wasn't familiar with much of Led Zeppelin. They put the tape down immediately and thought I was into something evil. I laughed and later explained it to them. Interesting afternoon that was. When we talk nowadays, we still laugh about it. R
  6. Hopefully they do tour and there is no opener (so we can get a longer show from them). Let's wait and see. R
  7. Hoped they would have done The Rover (they did it in rehearsals along with Candy Store Rock --- hope these end up as bonus on dvd; at some future point in time) Celebration Day The Ocean The Rain Song Achilles would have been cool, too. Maybe they're saving those for some other one-offs and/or future gigs. R

    Where Are You?

I'm in the Mothership (the US version). R
  9. Great Vision by Page (of what he wanted the band to be): blues based rock n roll Great Talent (JP, JB, RP and JPJ) Great Chemistry among the band members on stage and in studio, etc... Great Songs with Great Hooks that are still timeless Great Arrangements (Page and Jones' experience as session players paved the way) Great Production/ Producers, Audio Engineering Great Timing (except for 1975, 1977, 1980 (and those nights when members got sick or ate too many bananas and the like) Great Mystery (album covers and inside artwork, speculation of their involvement in the occult, symbols, interpretation of lyrics, flying after gigs in their own plane/jet, etc..) Great stage presence, lighting, management, control by band and management to not sell out to record companies whims when they were a band (1968-1980) like not releasing too many singles (so people would listen to their albums)... The list goes on... R
  10. Are there any unreleased recordings from that period that haven't surfaced yet??? R
  11. ... and they rode in Cadillacs to and from their gigs to their airplane(s). R
  12. I just picked it up a few days ago: It's their best album of original material in years. The first two tracks and especially the fourth track, "Love" are the best ones on the CD. "Love" reminds me of a Queen song in it's composition (it has classical guitars, great vocals; builds with the arrangements and remind me of of how Brian May would do things. Some of it reminds me of older/better days of Elton John, too. But at the end with the heavy (over the top guitars), it reminds me of GNR near 1992 (a la November Rain or something). They could have left the heavier guitar off near the end and it would have been a little more tasteful to my ears (just my opinion). It's the best track on the cd (overall). The mix/compression levels of this one is more than their previous work (which is not a good sign) as most modern day music is getting/adding too much compression somewhere between mixdowns & mastering for my ears to take (as there is a lot of white noise). Linkin Park, Nickelback and Maroon 5 come to mind (as other bands that have way too much compression in their mix to enjoy). Hope the record labels aren't putting pressure on the artists to put so much in the mix (it leaves me with a headache after about 4 or 5 songs). There's a couple of others that are not bad either. "Nine Lives" is catchy and a good choice for first single. I'll go back and listen to it a few more times and see if I think any differently after it's had time to breathe with me a few days. Glad they got new original material. Really hope Whitesnake tours with them in the US. R
  13. Bonham did the guitar solo & Page played the drums on the track, get it right. R
  14. Have fun and let us know the set list (if possible) and highlights of the concert. R

  17. some possible future Stones tour names: Stones and Bones Don't Tread On Keith The Undead Tour Off Our Rockers Tour Get The Ensure Out Back From the Grave Back From The Grave and Back Again R
  18. That would be cool, too!!! LOL!!! Who would wear the bustier, Plant??? Wait, didn't Freddie already do that back in early '85??? R
  19. I'd love to hear a mix of their hits, some deeper album cuts (rarely or never played live; perhaps in a medley) and some new tracks (from a new CD). 18 to 22 or so songs in a set list: (consisting of) 12 classic hits 3 or 4 new tracks 3 or 4 rare/ never played deep album cuts + Encores (classic hits) I think that would be a good balance (or recipe, so to speak), so everyone would have something new, something proven, something classic, something rare and most importantly, something true to who the band is (yesterday and today) to experience each night (including the audience and band members). Changing/ Mixing up the Set List a good bit would be cool, too!!! They would sell out every show and with each night's set list varying, every night would be an event!!! (they need to professionally film/HD tape each date) and release a tour DVD boxed set (at some point with the best moments), perhaps as a farewell package, called, "The Motherload". R
  20. How about "Zeppelin Idol"??? Jimmy, JPJ and Jason Bonham are the three judges: There's a world wide search for the next Led Zeppelin singer. The winner records vocals for their new album and tours the world with them. The New album would be called, "Selling Out By The Pound". maybe not,,... er, um, does anyone remember laughter???.. Just waiting for the 2009 tour and new cd by Page, JPJ, Jason and Robert. R
  21. It was cool to see some Coverdale interviews (older stuff with Page from '93) and the new stuff regarding the O2 and possible one-offs. Hopefully, Plant will join the 3 Js and record (to make this a LZ album) and tour in '09. If he doesn't do it, maybe Coverdale, Chris Cornell or someone will. Hi MissHD, I believe Styx and Boston are touring together here in the US. Re: Def Leppard and Whitesnake, hopefully they will come back to Atlanta at some point. I missed DL when they toured with Journey here a year or so ago. I have a friend in Myrtle Beach, SC that is the biggest Def Lep fan. She's like the little sister I never had (I gave her promo copies CD singles and b-sides from Hysteria "Ride Into the Sun", "Tear it Down" and I Wanna Be Your Hero (all original versions", which unfortunately were all stolen out of her car in the parking lot at one of their shows in Charlotte, NC a couple of years ago) when I worked at a record store back in college 20 years ago. I just found out they played only a few hours away in Greenville, SC about a month ago (from their website) before the new cd was just released (so i didn't even think to look for tour dates until the release date). I saw Whitesnake with Vivian Campbell in '87 and with Steve Vai in '88 or so in SC. It would be interesting to see David Coverdale join Page, JPJ, Jason and guests if this turns out to be a farewell Page tour. I've always liked Coverdale's work (especially in Deep Purple and early Whitesnake days). The 80s were an interesting time, so I take it for what it was. It definitely brought hard rock/metal to the mainstream. It's good to see these guys still out there and recording new music. I'm going to buy the new Def Leppard cd (just released) and the Whitesnake one when it comes out in June (I believe). R
  22. .. The HDs are the ones taken off of the shelves (as Warner Brothers discontinued HDDVD production/distribution). The BluRays are still available. R
