In the 90s I heard some not so good 77 shows and didn't listen to them much. I had Oakland on vinyl, but didn't listen to it much, as I was on a cd kick, it's a good show. It's only been a few years ago that I finally got a copy of listen to this Eddie.

That may be the best audience recording ever. Live On Blueberry Hill is another.

IMHO it's hard - or maybe pointless - to compile a best of '77 collection, because so many of the best performances come from June 21 and 23 at The Forum.

There are of course other great shows - June 7, 11 and 13 at Madison Square Garden, April 30 in Pontiac, and May 30 in Landover MD at the Cap Centre. And of course the other Forum nights (June 22, 25, 26 and 27).

But June 21 and 23 are hard to beat, and they also have the benefit - unlike so many other '77 shows - of being nice, consistent performances all the way through.

I agree to a point. The performances from Cleveland, OH., on the 27 & 28 of April were good, as were St. Paul, MN. April 13, 1977 & Indianapolis, IN. April 17, 1977.

Not bad...ya got the right "No Quarter", that's for sure. Personally I'd opt for IMTOD and TYG from 27/4/77 instead, but I think i'll give yer comp a go, Sue...

(Obviously I'd say the L.A. Forum compilation I made would suffice for "Best Of '77" but I'm probably biased there  )

Please revisit SIBLY from 5/18. Plant's vocals are rested, yet powerfull, and you can hear Jimmy's guitar weeping a puddle of tears upon the stage.

The song is not over played, if that makes sense.

And yes, I am biased.........

Reasonably biased, perhaps.

Where's OTHAFA? OTHAFA from Seattle 7.17.77 should be on that list.

Was L.A. the only place they performed "Heartbreaker", "Communication Breakdown", "Dancing Days" and "Mystery Train"?

I know they also did "It'll Be Me" at Ft. Worth...isn't there a Sbd of Ft. Worth or is Houston the only Texas Sbd?

That' not a true SBD, so I didn't put it in. Heartbreaker was also played for most of the NYC run, CB was teased at Landover, as was DD, and Mystery Train was teased at Oakland. Houston is the only Texas SBD.

Really? I know the Seattle OTHAFA is the only one of 'soundboard' quality (video soundtrack, more accurately) but. Christ, that is an awful guitar solo...so bad it's good

They played "Heartbreaker" in New York on June 10, 11 and 13th. I want to say "Mystery Train" was played in San Diego as well.

Houston is the only Texas SBD, but the Fort Worth audience tape with the "It'll Be Me" encore is easily the best non-Millard '77 recording (too bad the entire show isn't that quality, only the last third of the performance)

Thanks for reiterating my post, Nutrocker! > :P:D

Also OtHaFA 1977/07/17 is okay if you think about what Jimmy was trying to play.

Yeah, I've got the Ft. Worth "It'll Be Me", "Achilles Last Stand", "Stairway", and "Rock and Roll" on my "Duck-Walks & Lasers" vinyl.

Since Sue's compilation was based on Soundboards only, I was mainly focused on possible sbd sources for the other songs.

Maybe it's me, but listening to the Godfatherecords "Conquering Kingdome", OTHAFA doesn't sound as bad as I remember it.

Isn't there any Sbd source for OTHAFA...like one of the MSG shows?

Also OtHaFA 1977/07/17 is okay if you think about what Jimmy was trying to play.

I think the main problem with that version is how out of tune Jimmy's guitar is...he tries to make it work...

Unfortunately, there isn't. That's why I'd love a SBD of any of the NYC shows after 06/08.

June 10 would be nice (June 10 and 11 are probably my favourite '77 shows). Of course they didn't play "Over The Hills" on the 11th, but I know what you mean...

Yeah that guitar was way out of tune..

Everybody says 06/13 would be great for a SBD, and while this is true, I'd much rather have 06/10 simply because it was the first non-LA '77 show I ever heard, so it's very special to me. Hell, I'm listening to it right now! :D
