Led Zeppelin: From The Vaults

Along the lines of Sue's "Live Wishlist" discussion...

Let's say -and yeah, I know it's a big fucking IF  - Zeppelin were to begin a series of warts and all "From The Vault" releases along the lines of what The Rolling Stones have done over the last couple of years. If you were in charge, and had yer pick of five shows to release in their entirety (obviously better sounding audience recordings and soundboards would be preferred), which would you pick?

Here are mine, off the top of my head:

- May 31, 1973, LA...Bonzo's Birthday Party...need I say more?

- February 28, 1975, Baton Rouge...Freezer's audience tape, if you please.

- June 23, 1977, LA...For Badgeholders Only!

- July 24, 1979, Copenhagen...the Melancholy Danish Pageboys in full flight.

- July 7, 1980, Berlin...the historic 'Final Performance'.

The Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, Doors, King Crimson and many more bands have this system going strong! Come on JP and co.! This would be great.

First up:

6-22-77

Box set: "April '69 in SF"

Sept. 19 1970

March 24, 1973

ANY of the "missing '77s"

I could go on and on...

The more I listen the more I find '75 underwhelming. Does that make me weird?

No wierder than I am...I have to be in a mood for '75. I listen to 1975 shows more as background music than serious listening/analysis ala '77...

Live at Carnegie Hall - '69 multi-track!

Live at the Seattle Pop Festival - SBD ''69!

Live at Madison Square Garden 1971 - SBD!

Live in Montreux 1972

Live in Perth 1972

And as for '75, well, if ya don't dig it, ya don't dig it, I guess, but, I mean, Bonham/Jones on OTHAFA, TSRTS, IMTOD, etc...in perfect quality, wow, that's some of my favorite stuff. Background music? ouch!

'75 was their grooviest year IMO. Plus, despite his vocal troubles that year, Robert always seems to be in a jovial mood, giving off many of my favourite plantations ever. (see 19750319 after TUF and pretty much all of Earl's Court.)

Back to the topic...

At the risk of stating the obvious, some of the shows we're choosing would have no hope in hell of being released as some kind of "Live Archive" project from a sound quality perspective
