Bosses that are nuts

Ok I thought about what I said and really don't have that much grey hair yet, just a few sprinkles. Most of came from my surgery and my husband being diagnosed with cancer this last year. I still, however, tell my boss that they are all from him.

I'm sorry your husband had cancer. I hope he's doing better. :)

My ex-boss was crazy. If you didn't do everything the way she wanted you to do it, she made you redo everything, even if your way was better.

4 years ago I had the worst boss ever. I am sure her parents must have been related to each other, 'cause she just wasn't right. I think it was one of those deals where she had been around so long that they made her a supervisor when someone else quit. The woman constantly mispronounced words (native English speaker that she was) and made racist and even sexist comments. She was creepy as hell. Now I have the nicest boss ever :D

suz, you say the funniest things...

i had a boss that was so vulgar she said to one of our assistants who was from Korea, "aren't you glad your parents were well connected in the States, you could have ended up doing nails". needless to say, that assistant quit about a month later, largely due to that offensive remark.

It's unbelievable how stupid some people still are with that shit. Sometimes they don't know any better, but sometimes it's on purpose. My old boss lived way out of town, and drove a long way to work. One day she was talking about how she stopped at the gas station after work (we're talking about the suburbs, here), and was so frightened, because there were some black people blasting music in their car.....she said she felt like she was in "the ghetto." The ghetto! We don't even have ghettos here, just some pretty rough neighborhoods, but not in the area I'm talking about. What an idiot. That's not even a good example, either. The worst ones were things she said I couldn't even repeat.

What kills me is that it's always the people who, like.....can't spell. Or.....don't have all their teeth. It's like they're so f'in stupid that the only thing their tiny brains can recognize is skin color. It's somehow all they've got over anyone, ya know? Cripes, welcome to 1955.

You are obviously out of touch, and a bit brainwashed by the "politically correct" propaganda campaign that has misguided our nation, and most of the modernized world.

In such a nice and pretty world, racism wouldn't exist, however, we don't live in a nice and pretty world, and there are reasons why racism exists.

Are there not possible reasons why someone wouldn't like or would be scared of people of other races?

I know a guy that was minding his own business, that got robbed, and the shit beaten out of him, by a car full of black guys listening to music.

I know people that have gotten ripped off by Koreans.

In fact, I know of plenty of examples of other races living up to the "stereotypes".

So is it racist for someone to be uncomfortable around another race when they either know others who have been victims, or have been victims themselves?

This world is about survival, and survival certainly depends on one's ability to avoid others which may cause harm to them.

So I would like you to analyze what exactly racism is, and what causes it. It isn't a simple explanation like "people just hate each other because they look and act differently than what I am comfortable with."

Do you live in a metro area? Just curious. I live in a big building with people from all over the world. In my experience in this building alone, the only problems have been from drunken (sorry :P ) angry white people raising hell, and not the immigrants or black people. Does that mean I have a problem with my own race? Nope. It's just my experience here. I am no victim of political correctness, I call it like I see it. :)

Every situation is different, but one must look above general situations and at the broader scope of society. Your situation may be ok, but it doesn't apply as a standard to base these sort of ideas and opinions on.

There are stupid people of every race. Especially in America, where the majority of minds have turned into jello from mass media, commercialism, overindulgence, and just plain being spoiled. We can now get over the personal examples where "stereotypes turned out to not be true."

Once again, those examples are unrealistic in their application to the larger thing we are trying to understand here.

Stereotypes exist for a reason: there is a basis for them.

Somewhere along the line people got to thinking that the definition of stereotypes was: "an completely untruthful idea about someone or something."

The point I am trying to make can be seen my previous post. What do you think about that?

One of my old bosses was actually pretty cool until my friend Ralph (closet commie/agitator) would get under his skin. His name was Muhammud Ali Mirdad. We worked at a textile processing place with lots of steam machines and if the material went in wrong the boss would always say: 'DERE'S WRINKLES IN DERE"

:D

I think a car full of black people balsting music affects me the same as a car full of white people blasting music does: it's irritating as hell!

I worked for a brief period in the PR department of a small multimedia production company as a gopher for the biggest jerk ever. Total megalomaniac who refused to be questioned on any point(no matter how wrong he was). Abuse of power(even the little he had) does not go far enough in describing him. I never knew from one minute to the next what he was going to do or who he would blow up at(usually for nothing) next. The only people safe were women he deemed attractive, unless of course they were intelligent and confident, those qualities seemed to especially get under his skin, I think he felt threatened by them. If this guy gave you a hug it was just so he could put a knife in your back. What's worse is that he wasn't even very good at his job(made him qualified for management I suppose), but of course his mistakes were never his fault. I lasted there a couple of months before I just walked out(while he was screaming at me for not doing something he should have done)

I hope I never have to deal with the likes of him again.

I can relate to that type of person. I had one who had this 'bunker mentality' just did things by email all the time. Had absolutely no social or people skills and talked down to people all the time except those that just said yes to him , or were openly sychophantic, he was as nice as pie to them.It felt impossible to question his skills or knowledge or decisions at any time. He was always fucking right and people feared the sack if they challenged him.

He turned out to be more of a psychopathic loner with no friends an ego the size of the UK but most of the ideas he sent out was bollocks or stuff earlier suggested by others that he claimed as his own. He never really had an original idea in his head. He definitely had no sense of humour. must have had the funny chip removed at birth. There were some of the women who felt sexually under threat from him but he always played it cool and because of how well thought of he was in management they felt unable to complain about him. We did try to encourage them but it was difficult for them without witenesses or proof.

We also used to complain to the managers above him but they did nothing, some seemed scared of him but he was useless but talked himself up all the time and they believed it. Fools. It seems endemic that people who talk a good talk seem to get what they want whilst the real workers and grafters and loyal employees get little acknowledgement or respect for their contributions.

Many of us work hard at doing our stuff and sharing our expertise and support and friendship but it seems that this gets frowned upon in the modern age.

One can hope it will change.

As a manager myself I do try to listen to all sides of the arguments, depbates discussions from the staff I have and I think Iget respect for that even though tthey may not agree with my decisions but at least i listen.

As for the areshole manager he got what he deserved in the end, others saw him for what he was.

It should happen more often I think.

I really don't like people or managers like that, power mad egotists. I would never survive in the financial markets. he would cos he was so full of shite.

I wonder if there's a limit on how many times you can use the word Ass in a post?

If there is forgive me for being an Ass! :whistling:

  • 10 years later...

i caught my boss looking at porn on his phone the other day in the break room. I was in there eating and finished and had left but came back right away because i forgot to put my water bottle back in the freezer.  I guess he didn't expect anyone back in right away so he accused my of spying on him and he called me a creepy dork. So I said why because you cant control your porn urges?  He was obviously angry he was caught and after I mentioned his porn urges he made some reference to my personal business outside of work which he got wrong anyway.

I left it with "don't worry I wont tell your wife or your girlfriend  (who I've known for 20 years) who I talk to all the time who said you have a small penis".

He turned really red. And then I said, "I wont tell your kids either you piece of shit asshole" and then I stormed out.  How is what he was doing my fault?  If he want to act like a bitch I can be an even bigger bitch. Someone said I should go to HR, but I dont want to do that. we'll see how this goes, but he makes trouble for me I am going straight to his wife about his girlfriend on the side-

he is nuts
