Any MySpace peeps?

I joined and quit shortly thereafter. I just couldn't get into the whole "friends" thing. I was amazed at some of the photos the female gender would post of themselves.

I agree with you (quite provacative pictures). Seems to me, that is why the place is so popular. I find the whole thing appalling and pray MySpace and places like it are gone before my child is old enough to find them. I also think of it as a potentially very dangerous place (especially for young women). Sad world we live in today.

Oh come on. I'd say a very small percentage of Myspace pages are the types you see featured on the news after someone has been abducted or they're doing a Dateline sting. I think this is a case of wanting everything to be bad, so you apply the part to the whole. I'd say the median age of Myspace users is older than your average teenager and your average teenager is more likely to have the stupid photos and shit than adults are. Same goes for Facebook. I reconnected with people I went to Kindergarten with because of Myspace. Never thought I'd see their faces again, and there they were.

I have a Myspace, and I have a Facebook page. It's a social networking website, yes there will be people who abuse it, but there's no need for the Puritan backlash. I get sick of that sometimes.

Myspace has also been a really valuable tool for a lot of musicians who have developed huge fan bases through that and Facebook.

I'm still amazed at the power of MySpace as far as a promotion tool for musicians.

Well said. I also have a myspace. It's a great tool for keeping up with the goings on of my favorite bands. As for the young women posting provocative pics, it's not myspace's fault. Those girls are posting photos like that because that's most likely how they are acting in real life. If you've ever taken a look around, the teens of today are pretty sexual acting. I have nieces of that age, and it's kinda scary....

I'm a facebooker. I was always under the impression that myspace was starting to lose the contest between the two.

Anything that gives you the ability to get in contact with old school friends and, in my case, lost family, is a good thing.

What I don't like, particularly on facebook, is this almost unspoken pressure to post every picture of yourself everytime you ever hint at socialising. It's like if you ain't drunk and half naked you're just boring. So, naturally, I don't post any pics of me at all. I don't get it. I never take my camera out with me because I'm too busy enjoying myself. I always find the people who do do it a little sad. Especially when they're updating they photo album every day.

Having said that, some of the pics they post are comedy gold.

I'm on MySpace & FaceBook and I've made some good net friends through them. Also, my MySpace is a bit of a Jason-fest (surprise, surprise :D ) I have vids, pics and info posted there. It's great when people message me to say how much they like my site and how they've found out stuff about Jason that they didn't know. That makes me happy :D

Why are so many myspace pages difficult to browse? A mish-mosh of types/fonts/colors/jpegs, a big freaking mess. It's like some 12 year old learned the lingo and got dangerous. Then you get the bozos who thank you endlessly for being their friend. OI VEY!

How about this? Not everyone is as schooled in HTML as others are, so their attempts at making layouts sucks compared to other people. My sister made my layout because I can't do it worth a damn.

These aren't supposed to be professional-looking web pages.
