^ Really?

Makes me wanna check out those discs. The Osmonds were rocking hard you say?

Dayum!

REALLY! Check out those albums especially the CRAZY HORSES and THE PLAN albums. The PHASE III album had a couple of Hard Rockin' songs called "My Drum" and "Don't Panic." The "BRAINSTORM" album only had one Hard Rocker entitled "Gotta Get Love." "Gotta Get Love" should rank as one of the band's all-time Hard Rockers ever that truly kicks ass. ROCK ON!

How's it going "alucard?" Believe me when I say to you that you are not alone. A lot of people have forgotten THE OSMONDS' music from the past and how they could truly kick ass with Hard Rock. People would never believe that a family like THE OSMONDS, being of Mormon faith, would ever record Hard Rock music the way they did. Believe it or not "alucard" as well as my fellow ZEPPELIN fanatics, THE OSMONDS were one of LED ZEPPELIN'S biggest fans and even had a goal on attempting to try in being the next LED ZEPPELIN. How's that for a surprise ZEPPELIN fanatics? ROCK ON!

How's it going "Zepaholic?" You do know your music! I remember SWEET well! I remember when "Love Is Like Oxygen" came out in the late 1970's, this is another band that knew how to Rock n' Roll and kick ass. ROCK ON!

They also did "Fox On The Run" and I'm pretty sure "It's Magic".

Hey...The Glam rock genre was really cool and the Sweet were pioneers. The bubblegum slop that they were forced to do was not them at all. This band had a very hard edge and could really kick ass.

"If we don't F*#% you then someone else will" off Strung Up is absolute classic.

Anyone listen to Moxy? Their debut from 1975 is really great. They were a hard rock band from Canada. Tommy Bolin is said to be playing on the record, but it's also said that his stuff were overdubbed by Moxy's own guitarist. Anyway, it's really great hard rock. Unfortunatly their follow ups weren't as good as this one.

The original vinyl album is hard to find, but it's released on CD and might be avalible as downloads too.

Allmusic.com review:

Moxy was formed in 1974 by Buzz Shearman from the ashes of his previous act, Leigh Ashford. The same year the band was formed it was signed to Polydor records in Canada, mainly due to the popularity and success of Leigh Ashford and Buzz Shearman's reputation. The band's first album was recorded in California in only two weeks with co-producer Mark Smith, and as luck would have it, guitarist Tommy Bolin was recording next door. Bolin was so impressed with Moxy that he added some guitar work to the LP. After recording the album simply titled Moxy, the band headed back to Toronto and enlisted guitarist Buddy Caine to fill in the guitar parts that Bolin had added to the album. The debut album originally released in 1975 is a powerhouse of hard rock tunes; it was picked up by many radio stations in the U.S.A. and was a number one requested album in Texas. The success of the album lead to a contract with the Mercury Records label in the U.S. and a national distribution deal. This release by Unidisc Records is a straight reissue of the original Mercury/Polydor Records album at a budget price complete with original artwork, but unfortunately, it contains no bonus tracks.

MAY BLITZ

http://www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/ash/75/MAYBLITZMP.html

May Blitz were formed in England during the early part of 1969. Tony Newman ex Jeff Beck Group actually formed the band recruiting James Black & Reid Hudson. Black and Hudson were Canadians from Victoria, British Columbia who pioneered Canadian West Coast music prior to moving to England. The band played extensively on the UK college circuit in 1969 before signing to Vertigo. Their debut album 'May Blitz' in 1970 was heavy and featured a grotesque cartoon cover. The first album sold moderately and a follow up 'The 2nd Of May' was recorded in 1971. Unfortunately despite being an excellent album full of heavy original numbers the album flopped. The band were dropped by Vertigo shortly after. Black and Hudson disappeared into oblivion (They actually returned to Canada after the break up of May Blitz) but Newman played with many bands throughout the 70's including Three Man Army, Marc Bolan, David Bowie & Mick Ronson, Chris Spedding and David Coverdale's Whitesnake.

Both of their albums are in high demand on the collectors market. In 1992 both of the albums were remastered onto CD. Sadly one of the UK's lost treasures. Their music lives on through collectors and fans worldwide.

Note: A friend of mine saw the band perform at Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone, England in 1971. He said "..they were bloody excellent. I met them also, nice guys..."

How's it going "Ady?" I've heard of May Blitz, thats another band that Rocked but got lost in Rock n' Roll history. By the way, I love your picture of Nora Miao, she was a great Oriental Actress that starred in many of Bruce Lee's movies such as "The Big Boss (Fists Of Fury)," "The Chinese Connection" and "The Way Of the Dragon (Return Of The Dragon)."

How's it going again "Zepaholic?" Sweet, in many ways reminded me of Grand Funk Railroad. Sweet, like Grand Funk, were forced to conform to the Bubblegum slop despite the fact that both of these bands knew how to kick ass with Hard Rock music. ROCK ON!

What's up "Swede?" Long time no hear! I'VE HEARD OF MOXY! Now thats a name that I thought I would never hear again. It blows me away that a lot of ZEPPELIN fanatics know their shit when it comes to past Rock n' Roll bands. I guess the drugs did do us all some good, Ha Ha! ROCK ON!

How's it going "SuperDave?" I once believed just like you that SWEET recorded the song entitled "Magic." I thought I was nuts when I found out that a band called PILOT recorded the hit single "Magic" in the late 1970's. ROCK ON!

Same here, until we ordered Mega Hits of the 70's. How about "Come and Get your Love", by Redbone?

How's it going "jimmie ray" as well as my fellow die hard hard core ZEPPELIN fanatics? How was everyone's weekend? I'm on my break at the moment and I figured that I would sneak away and check out the ZEPPELIN website. "jimmie ray," I remember REDBONE well! REDBONE is an Indian Pop band that had a hit song with "Come And Get Your Love." I love that song. I do have REDBONE'S album somewhere at my house but its hard to search through thousands and thousands of CD's. I will try to find it when I get home. In the mean time, ROCK ON!

Yep - they came out of poverty on a reservation, and the remaining members still perform at one of the American Indian run gambling resorts. I wonder if they're stuck playing that one song over and over, since the customers really aren't there for the music?

What's up "jimmie ray?" "Come And Get Your Love" is REDBONE'S trademark song, they will always play that song over and over again. Hell, REDBONE can probably play that one song while they're gambling or sleeping Ha Ha. ROCK ON!

How's it going "lucyinthesky" as well as my fellow die hard hard core ZEPPELIN fanatics. "lucyinthesky," this is a good question. I was also contemplating writing a thread about this forgotten family band but now is the best time to mention this band. You're all probably going to laugh at me for mentioning this band but I love to write things that surprise people. This band had a successful comeback this year at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. This successful band has sold over 90 Million records worldwide and counting and are not in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame yet where they deserve to be. One of the members was also voted one of the greatest Teen Idols in the 1970's as well as all-time. This legendary band also had a member and his younger sister on a highly successful TV show that lasted 4 years in the mid to late 1970's. The younger sister would also be a contestant on ABC's popular "Dancing With The Stars" TV show last year and came in third place. The family I'm talking about is THE OSMONDS. For those of you that thought or believed that this band does not know how to Rock n' Roll, I dare you to buy and check out THE OSMONDS' "PHASE III (1971)," "CRAZY HORSES (1972)," "THE PLAN (1973)" and "BRAINSTORM (1976) albums, their Hard Rock music will change your mind quickly despite going against their father's wishes as well as their religious beliefs. You're talking about a band that played Bubble Gum Music, Pop Music, Hard Rock Music, Soul Music, Disco Music and Country Music. How many bands can you say did all of that? You may be asking yourself "how did the Osmonds get forgotten and lost in Rock n' Roll history?" Simple, the band took a back seat and focused primarily on the successful Donny & Marie show as engineers, arrangers and producers thus forgetting all of the achievements and accomplishments that this band once did in the early 1970's. It is also fact that THE OSMONDS are the ONLY band (Next to Michael Jackson) that had screams at their concerts that were about as close to Beatlemania as you're ever going to get. I know, I witnessed it! It is just too bad that this legendary band did not get the recognition that they truly deserved. I feel that their time is coming in being inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame, their past worldwide popularity and music is a true testament that brings back the Rock n' Roll spirit whose sellout concerts were once close to Beatlemania. I forgot to say that I have always been in love with Marie Osmond and I always will. What do all of you, my fellow ZEPPELIN fanatics think of THE OSMONDS? ROCK ON!

Wow! That sounds interesting! In fact I've never heard of them (maybe they didn't make it as far as the German pampa...), but I'll definitely check them out!

Thanks a lot for the tip!
