  2. OMG, how could I forget? Charleston chews rocked! I didn't realize they were a NE thing. Going to indulge in a Sam Summer shortly.
  3. and the Polar soda made the marshmallow fizz in your mouth. Simpler times, my friends. Simpler times.
  4. Well done! The ultimate New England after school snack. For real.
  5. Egad womEn, or just me?? C'mon, you've eaten peanut butter and fluff and you know it. Brat.
  6. ...and Polar Soda. Diet Orange Dry is my absolute fave.
  7. Don't forget Fluffer nutter sandwiches. God, I lived on those growing up. Fluff, for the unacquainted, is melted marshmallow. You buy it in a plastic tub(with a red cover), and it lasts FOREVER.
  8. ^^^^ now, now, boys and girls. Give him time.
  9. You know what I find most fascinating is that these politicians usually have one thing in common. They almost always lawyers. I am quite surprised that they or someone on their staff is unacquainted with copyright laws. Good for TP. He always fights the good fight. Something else I love him for.
  10. I remember one spanking as a child, by my Dad. And I think he cried harder than I did! (I deserved it though.) My mother was a screamer and a name caller. Not sure which is worse. I have never spanked my kids. I have used the shit out of time-out, 1 minute for each year til they were in 1st grade or so. Right or wrong, that was a choice I made. That strategy worked better for my daughter than my son. Nevertheless, we all survived...(so far, they are now 19 and 14)
  11. Good points. I know a few like this as well. Professional students, living with Mommy. Losers.
  12. Gimme a break, New England. Sun...now!
  13. Children are also not being taught the value of an education at home. For many reasons. Single parenting seems to come to mind, although I am the product of a fractured family. Simply wasn't tolerated. Thanks Mom and Dad. You are so cool. Hard work, initiative, sacrifice and simple common sense have all but evaporated. As a mother of 2 teenagers, I can tell you there are many times I have purposely driven my little brats through undesirable neighborhoods in an effort to show them what a lack of education means. "So what if I drop out" My son actually said that to me once. You haven't lived until you've heard your child say something like that! Poverty, unwanted pregnancy, crime, addiction, and living in a 6 family with other people who couldn't care enough about themselves to want more out of life, so, guess what? They don't give 2 shits about you or your stuff either. One more thing, and then I'll shut up. Strider referenced the Greatest Generation by mentioning Baby Boomers. Here's my feeling. The Greatest Generation did SUCH AN OUTSTANDING JOB OF PRESERVING EVERYTHING WE ENJOY TODAY, I.E. FREEDOM, that we now haven't the slightest idea what it would be like to lose it. We, yeah me and YOU, have become so insulated that we have allowed apathy to rule. I just read a statistic the other day that stated 4 out 10 4th graders IN AMERICA, meaning, plug in the town, I can't remember where and it doesn't matter, could not identify Abraham Lincoln in a photograph, nor could they articulate the importance of his presidency. Are you kidding me? Mommys and Daddys, you can't leave your kids what you don't have. It starts with you. Stop blaming the schools, the coaches, the weather, and the internet. Over and out.
  14. I was lucky enough to see Winwood with Petty a few years ago. What a great sound. Be great to see Clapton. I've been told by some who know far more than I about the extraordinary talent that is Eric Clapton, that he is the best guitarist who ever lived, simply because he can play anything Enjoy the show(s), SAJ.

I was unaware of this line of questioning. Guess I haven't been following the case very closely.

I just read Mrs. Weiner is expecting their first child. Great. Forgive me, but, have we determined if there are any laws broken? I get that we depend on those who represent us to use good judgement, but does anyone know the answer to my question? And please don't preach to me about the moral issues. Yeah, yeah, I get that too. We are a nation of laws, no?
  17. Summer! Now that's what I'm talkin bout! Got me an ice cold Savignon Blanc. Cheers.

I love that his wife is not standing beside him during this speech.
  19. Hi , Sorry I haven't updated here in a bit. Yeah, Wednesday night was not fun. Tornadoes just don't come around here very often! My daughter and I did head for the basement for a short time. The weather was weird here in Southern Worcester County, no leaf movement, very vivid colors, and a fog that would not lift. Some of the stories I have heard are unbelievable. Like the woman in Monson, MA who found hay stuck in the wall of her barn, resembling a dart board. Try to imagine that. Or, the mail that was found in Natick, a suburb of Boston...clear across the state. Friends had insulation in their yard, clearly from a home that was leveled. What I was most affected by personally was how quickly things can change. We complain about the cold and snow here, but very rarely do you hear of someone losing their home. I am referring to roof collapses, which do happen. I hope this is not a trend for the Summer of 2011. Hugs to all.
  20. I work in Hematology-Oncology. Dignity rules in my book, and it should be on the individual's terms. Period.
  21. Ok ok. Seems to be quiet again, but they have extended the warning til 11pm. I'm exhausted already. I actually worked up in Leominster today. I don't like this at all.
