  1. First round of records today...R.I.P. Allen Toussaint. Second round of records...it's Greg Lake's birthday today.
  2. Thursday November 12: RIDE @ The Wiltern Theatre. Glad Andy Bell got tired of dicking around with Oasis and reunited Ride after nearly 20 years. "Nowhere" and "Going Blank Again" are still in my regular rotation of albums...great shoegaze guitar noise.
  3. I had already left for work when I heard the sad news of Allen Toussaint's passing. Which meant I didn't have any of my Allen Toussaint albums to play at work today. So I improvised with what I had at work to pay musical tribute to the late great Toussaint.
  4. Another sad loss in the music world. New Orleans musical legend Allen Toussaint. Rest in Peace. http://www.nola.com/music/index.ssf/2015/11/allen_toussaint_dies.html
  5. Nope, not much Paul. Watching Kobe now is like watching Willie Mays when he was with the Mets stumbling in the outfield. I think Golden State could seriously challenge the Bulls 72-win season.
  6. Morning musing #1...If the New England Patriots do have a kryptonite it seems to be the New York Football Giants. Soooo...if anyone is going to puncture the Patriots roll to 16-0, maybe it's the Giants this week? Morning musing #2...The proof that Bill Belichick is a great coach isn't so much his Super Bowls, although that's wonderful and all. No, it's the astounding fact that he got an 11-5 record out of Matt Cassel!!! Morning musing #3...Maybe the bigger problem in Dallas isn't Romo's injury but the bad karma that seems to have attached itself to Dallas since Greg Hardy arrived. This guy is a cancer...a virus...a plague.
  7. He forgot to add the date...2023. San DiLame-O strikes again.
  8. I suppose it would depend on whether the filming was taking place on or to the side of the stage, or from the audience?
  9. Oasis had a few decent songs (albeit derivative), but I'd still rather listen to Suede, Pulp, Supergrass, Blur, Stone Roses and Ride any day of the week.
  10. Hated him when he was at UCLA. It's a looooooong season. What the NBA landscape looks like in April is usually completely different than what it looks like in November. I try not to get too intense this early...I like to pace myself for the long haul.

  12. A horrible week...our collective worst since Week 2. So let us not dwell on the negative...let's get straight to the numbers and the next week's schedule. Congratulations to those Inglorious Basterds apantherfrommd and Bong-Man (whatever is in that bong is working) for another weekly win! That makes 5 and 4 weekly wins respectively...nobody else has won more than 2. But they are not running away with the season championship yet...they are still within striking range for a few people behind them. Week 9 Results apantherfrommd: 9-4* Bong-Man: 9-4* jb126: 8-5 LedZeppfan77: 8-5 Reggie29: 8-5 Walter: 8-5 in_the_evening: 7-6 Strider: 7-6 Anjin-san: 6-7 ebk: 6-7 jabe: 6-7 SANBR: 6-7 zepscoda: 6-7 paul carruthers: 5-8 Collective totals: 99-83 54.4% Average score: 7.1-5.9 Season Standings After 132 Games 1. apantherfrommd: 90-42***** 2. 13. Question #1: Did or did not the Cowboys beat the Giants and Eagles with Romo? Question #2: Did or did not the Cowboys barely lose to the Giants and Eagles without Romo? Question #3: Are you expecting the Giants or Eagles to suddenly run the table? Given that Romo is expected back for the Thanksgiving game, in only one or two of their remaining games will Dallas be the underdog (Carolina and Green Bay). If New York and Philadelphia continue to muddle around playing .500 ball, who's to say Dallas can't put together a winning streak and get back in the division race?
  14. Call me a crazy optimist but I say it's not curtains for the Cowboys just yet.
  15. I stand by my statement. Have the Eagles or Giants shown you anything that suggests they will go on an extended winning-streak and run away with the NFC Least? They stand at 5 wins at the moment and Dallas is at 2. The Cowboys have a winnable game this week while the Giants will lose to the Patriots and who knows what Philadelphia does week-to-week. Walter will know more than I but isn't Romo slated to return the week after next...in time for the Thanksgiving game?
  16. I love Bryan Cranston (just because I eventually soured on "Breaking Bad" does not mean I didn't acknowledge Bryan Cranston's great performance as Walter White), so it is good to see him have a chance to sink his teeth in a juicy role on the big screen as Dalton Trumbo.
  17. ^^^The good news Walter is that the division is still within reach. As long as you don't fall behind by more than three games, Romo should be back in time to bring Dallas back.
  18. Did you use the Keith Richards method? Thick and juicy New York Strip steak, grilled to a perfect medium-rare. Two eggs, sunny-side up, like golden breasts staring up at me. Hash browns cooked to a golden crisp in a cast-iron skillet. Freshly squeezed orange juice. Water in a tall glass filled with ice. Coffee, hot and strong. The morning newspaper by my side to catch up on the weekend news and sporting events. If there has to be a Monday, by jove let it start like this.
  19. They should just change the EU to PU.
  20. Congratulations to Andy Panther and Bong-Man for winning the pool for the week...again! Bastardos! Final tally and numbers forthcoming after tonight's stupor bowl, natch.
