  1. fingers crossed that will feature the best AUD snippets 😇
  2. That's Jimmy (or Jonesy?) noodling "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer"...certainly NOT Robert A christmas chestnut I'm Rudolph the Red-Nosed ReindeerI got a very shiny noseAnd if you ever saw itWould you would even say it glows - like a roseAll of the other reindeersUsed to laugh and call me names
  3. And...does it come with mini replica Alembic 8 string, Fender Jazz bass axes, and a wig ? 🤣
  4. Studio: Lemon Song Live: Heartbreaker (Berkeley 14 Sept.1971)
  5. You're welcome Walter. I forgot to mention that Andy Adams -in his 1990 'Lost & Found' article- 'predicted' the existence of the Long Beach 72 Moby Dick (along WIWSNB and Dancing Days) and the 100 minutes SB from Hampton 71, two years before their first actual outing on 'One More Daze''.
  6. I don't think so... Both magazine editors Hugh (Proximity) and Andy ( Early Days& Latter days) are going in to detail with this specific Box of 'found' Tapes from 1990. The house sitter is usually associated with the glut of 73, 80 SBs and some rehearsal tapes. The story depicted by Andy and Hugh is quite solid since their descriptions are so accurate (the handwriting on the 2" multi track reel boxes!!!! We mortals had to wait until the books incl. in the Super Deluxe boxes to verify it's existence). Both Andy's and Hugh's early 90's accounts have so much details, it never ceases to amaze me how thoroughly researched their stuff is. So, to answer your question ...the two Hampton 71 1/4" reels were part of a 7 (or 8?) tape collection consisting of 2" multi track and 1/4" reel to reel recordings. I've included the ED&LD and Proximity articles, courtesy of A.Adams and H.Jones.
  7. you lucky man, MD Ale! my evolution=timing vol.2 never arrived 😞
  8. 12...obvious 4... no brainer but then. 1, 8, 9 Can not make up my mind. Today I would say Pink Floyd, but tomorrow? (and Little Feat, The Temptations, Paul Simon, Stones, Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, ...tough 🤔)
  9. Sure, the regular edition will be released on september 8th and I believe the price will be around £40 on Amazon.uk https://www.amazon.co.uk/Jimmy-Page-Anthology/dp/1905662610/ref=sr_1_1?crid=YEL3SQLD7LFK&dchild=1&keywords=jimmy+page+anthology&qid=1586672463&s=books&sprefix=jimmy+page+%2Caps%2C147&sr=1-1 By the way, anyone on the forum , lucky enough to receive her/ his ltd.ed. yet?
  10. Yep, that super slinky guitar strings cover was incredibly cool... The original Tarantura was quite inventive in the art department. It's a great pity Empress's latest releases weren't particularly inspired most of the times.
  11. Hi Strider, Yes he passed away in 2013, Cancer I presume Strange you missed the notification on Collector's Reviews at the time. Ger was a marvelous man, devoted to his profession as a pastor and to music. Zep in particular. https://www.collectorsmusicreviews.com/in-memory-of-gerard-sparaco/ In more recent reviews the people at CR often still refer to Gerard's reviews.
  12. Being 14 years old and already an avid Zep head, my first Live Zep experience was a 60 minutes compilation on a reel to reel tape culled from the BB Hill 2LP. Traded it with a class mate for a Woodstock live poster. I must admit it was a mixed bag of excitement and minor disappointment (Whole Lotta Love sounded thin compared to LZ2, Bonzo sounded 'boxy' and muffled). In 1976 I bought my first Zep boot (Earl's Court on LZL Europe), followed by the (BBC sourced ) Stairway to Heaven on TMOQ. These were much better, in my book. By the time TSRTS came along, my main intrest became....girls😍 and Mighty Zep moved to an honorable second place until the late 80's when I became obsessed again. After reading the Chris Welch' "Led Zeppelin The book" in 1990, I was wondering how to acquire this avalanche of great live material... I was surprised those 'illicit' live Zep CD's were readily available in most record stores. The infamous 'legal loophole 'period here in Europe when enterprising (German, Italian,...) labels were rehashing American and Japan releases. My first copy was Bonzo at Last (Seagull) covering the last Berlin show. A sheer endless string of live silvers followed: Fillmore 4/27/69 (wow; Train kept a rollin', As Long as I have You,...), BBC Paris Theater 71, Dallas 75, , Zurich 80, Destroyer and my favorite: Osaka 1971. Other stand out moments; the discovery of Texas Pop on Whoopy Cat. Luis Rey 'LIVE' only mentioned a sub par AUD recoding, but discovering this new, superior SB source in my trusted record store was MAGIC After two, three years finally tracking down the original silvers of Studio Daze (Scorpio), Bombay Sessions (Tecumseh), V1/2 (Dynamite),...my first Tarantura's The soundboard revolution the internet of things: discussing Zep with the Dave Lewis, Hugh Jones, Leo Ishac, Eric Sachs and the late Gerard Sparaco 😢 getting acquainted with Neil, Robert and William here on the forum. wonderful. In the meanwhile dozens from my original silver collection left the building for better versions, but I still do cherish my humble collection. Even more so in COVID 19 times fingers crossed for more discoveries and updates
  13. Correctomundo....Several reviewers at the time even claimed it was Bonzo who hit the skins on the two Detective albums. This rumor belongs in the conspiracy department, since Phill Collins, Tony Thompson and even Bonham's big idol, Carmine Appice developed a Bonzo wall of sound at the time I have both Detective albums and although they haven't aged very gracefully (Michael des Barres!) it's easy to compile a very nice single disc.
  14. Nice research, Moby Dick Ale!🤙 Sustainability is always good. Not so good is that after a month, I have no news on my Evolution vol.2...anybody else placed an order from Japan during the first week of March, that has yet to be delivered? The Eelgrass 928 arrived pretty much on time (but that's of course Singapore)
  15. Wow, that is THE most apt description of one of the weirdest excursions in the Zep catalog. Thanks for sharing, mate. Feel free to write some more of this kind of 'stream of consciousness' beat poetry. Loved it! (and Peace to you, too) 🤣
  16. Great post, fellows! I'm an avid admirer of "Hey Hey What Can I do" too. It's IMHO one of their top 10 compositions.Perfect!. Another alternative would be the 'Feel So Bad/That's allright Mama' on Studio Daze. Regarding the swirly album artwork, I think Jimmy dismissed it because he was expecting something else. He did instruct Zacron to develop a more 'educational'concept of the revolving wheel with seasonal crops and vegetables (LOL). It IS a great piece of art though and the album inside even more so.
  17. My copy arrived yesterday... Standard shipping. A little more than even week. My evolution is timing vol.2 on the other hand is already three weeks in limbo. Hope it's not lost
  18. William, Thanks for the great work...a great Zep 'Made in Japan' album👍
  19. thanks Zepster1979, much obliged👍. The things I'm expecting are not THAT crucial: thankfully I have secured the FLACS of 928 and Evolution=Timing vol 2 contains only stuff I already own in one way or another. Hope this hovering Corona clouds will be over soon.
  20. For those of us lucky enough to have experienced the Mighty Zep live on stage during the early days, I have a question regarding light shows (and the absence of ...). On several photo's of (mainly) 1970 North American shows, you see the venue and stage evenly lit. Punters from the audience can be clearly identified AND the band is bathing in light as well. Did they play with house lights on ? or were these pics taken during encore time? The famous September Forum and MSG evening shows on the other hand feature a more intimate stage lights setting , but the Carl Dunn photos from August (Oklahoma) for instance, or the Chuck Boyd March L.A Forum gig photo's show a clearly lit arena. Same era, completely different atmosphere...
  21. Not sure where to post this question...but is anyone else experiencing longer delays (or even parcels missing) after ordering from the Far East these days?
  22. The price setting is, I believe 75 USD. I'm sure you know one of the distributors, just check 😎
  23. Quite late compared to their 929 re-issue, Eelgrass finally released a budget version of Please, Please Me (5+1 CD's) . This is a straight copy of EV's most expensive 928 set incl. the bonus disc feat. Beatles Covers. Packaged in a fat jewell case, this is clearly a cheaper alternative, until EV unleashes a re-hash on Moonchild..
  24. The cavernous acoustics at the Earl's Court venue are also to be held responsible for the lack of spark. Still, a EC 3CD compilation of sorts still would make my day. When DVD came out in 2003 I extracted most of the (multi tracked) audio, so I could just listen to RAH, MSG, EC and Knebworth on CD. The Dolby stereo rip of Earl's Court sounds mind-blowing. The oomph on Bozo's kick drum during IMTOD, Jonesy's bouncy fretless playing,...It may not be the most confident string of shows in Zep's history, but the sound is terrific!
  25. I do hope so...somehow that seems logical: an anthology of their best AUD recordings/performances. Highly doubtful however EV is going to compile this set themselves ( or let alone 'remaster these selections for optimum cohesiveness) . One of our experts in the field (here or at Hotel????) wants to give it a go? Strong contenders would be Winterland 69, Fillmore W April 24th Montreux 70, Tampa April, BB Hill Ft Worth August 71 , Berkeley 14 sept, Tokyo 923, Ipswitch Offenburg 73 L.A 75 LA 77 Best of the 79 Copenhagen warm ups
