  3. i'll second that.. a lot of bands kicked up their game after Mahavishu started. i've been listening to Inner-mounting Flame at work... incredible stuff.
  4. QUESTION 7: Robert Plant's nickname "Percy" was from which television presenter? ANSWER: Gardening presenter Percy Thrower, after a joke by John Paul Jones over "watching plants grow" in July 1969. from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Led_Zeppelin/Quiz
  5. John Bonham was Tony Iommi's best man when Iommi got married. (1st marrige I believe) Robert Plant and Geezer Butler are also pretty friendly. both are soccer freaks.. The members of Zeppelin all went to see Black Sabbath when they played their 1st Dio era concert. but .... John Bonham alledgedly kept busting Ronnie James Dio's chops He sings real good ... for a midget Tony Iommi was in the audience applauding when Zeppelin were inducted into the UK R and R Hall Of Fame... Bill Ward thanked "Bonzo" on his WARD ONE solo album...
  6. This one that's on now is ok but there's some big mistakes. They show a shot of Keith Relf and say it's a young Robert Plant.
  7. Some Favorites - 20 Robert Plant Ronnie James Dio Rob Halford Ian Gillan Fiona Apple Todd Rundgren Freddie Mercury Greg Allman Bjork Chris Cornell Peter Gabriel Mick Jagger Kate Bush Paul McCartney David Bowie Josh Homme Ann Wilson David Coverdale Daryl Hall Peter Hammill some not so favorites Stephen Pearcy - least favorite Vince Neil - a close second 4 non blondes singer - she can definately sing.... just what she does with it drives me crazy.. Dizzy Dean Davidson Glen Danzig
  8. It's John Bonham counting off the intro.. "We've done 4 already and now we're steady and then they went.... 1 2 3 4..." BAM! Something like that.. JB also counted The Ocean off like this on the 1973 tour. plus the riff real low.. maybe leaking thru headphones... i've never heard the phone ringing though...
  9. I saw Shakey Vick perform with Rod Price... great great Bluesmen. Sweet - Healer - recorded at musicland - same place as Presence. fripp league of gentlemen
  10. that's a real nice kit. do you also have a gong and tympani?
  11. I've followed Yes since about 77 and will continue to do so.. I'd rather Jon was there ... and Rick Wakeman is probably the most talented musician I've ever seen play. But Geoff Downes is also excellent. Wakeman has also left the band at least 5 or 6 times so whatever... I agree Jon is the voice of Yes, but the last few albums weren't all that great largely because of Jon's lyrics... I feel kind of bad for him, but he fired plenty of fine musicians from Yes over the years... Tony Kaye for one. I read somewhere (here probably or Blabbermouth) that Wakeman, Anderson and Trevor Rabin are planning something together .. that would be huge...

  14. "I SUPPOSE YOU'RE HERE TO INTERVIEW THE USUAL TWO!!!" John Bonham - to Journalist Lisa Robinson
  15. "If all that snow was Cocaine, well Jethro Tull could do a winter season here." Robert Plant "If Bonzo was a Poltergeist, he would have kicked my ass" Jimmy Page "Your Promises are pie crusts." John Bonham "I could have shot craps onstage and no one would have noticed" JPJ - complaining about not being properly lit on stage "Don't go changing" Robert Plant to MTV's Alan Hunter at the end of a backstage interview at Live Aid
  16. I think Ozzy and Sharon took it a little further and it backfired bigtime...Pissed a lot of fans off. Kind of a good marketing angle now.... like Coca Cola Classic...THE ORIGINAL IS BACK... But yeah, I don't understand the Michael Anthony treatment either..
  17. remembered this one while driving to work this morning...
  18. some great second releases that haven't been mentioned yet
  19. No. He still has it and uses it in the studio, but retired it from the road.
  20. I can understand you being disappointed... but you might have a collectors item...
  21. Interesting. I've only heard Robert defend it.. saying how it "unfashionably sold 10 million copies". I remember reading that John Bonham felt that "All My Love" had Robert's greatest vocal performance. I think Jimmy had said that it was a transitional album... which makes sense. ---- When JPJ was doing his solo tours, he was into his 8 10 12 & 50 String Basses, his Bass Lap Steel and Electric Mandolins KYMA ETC... During ITTOD, he was very into his new state of the art Yamaha Synth. He was way more into stringed instruments than keys at the time of his solo tours. If he had toured for Scream For Help in 1985, I think he would have been doing stuff from Outdoor. ledded1 - I saw both solo tours. He played nothing from ITTOD. The Zooma Tour only had 2 keyboard driven songs, No Quarter and Trampled Underfoot.. I don't remember anything Keyboard driven on the Thundertheif Tour...
  22. I kind of like her.. None of her songs have jumped out at me .... at all... But she's a gutsy performer. She definately has talent. I see the obvious Madonna Influence. But I also see Dale bozzio, from Missing Persons, and some Marilyn Manson as well. I wouldn't call her a rip off. She says she's a huge Iron Maiden fan.. I would like to see her do something very heavy..
