Achilles Last Stand 7/20/77. . This is the mother of all disasters. . Im perplexed by this recording and always have been. . For one it's in my backyard at ASU (which coincidently I saw Percy 11 years later Now And Zen tour). . Two, imagining being on stage when the BAND explodes. . looking at each other in that "what the fuck is going on up here"!. . This song is a technical bitch and with how fragile they could be on any given night in '77 Im surprised this didnt happen more often. .Third, Jimmy almost getting killed during all of this. . The crazy way , of all times and recordings, to have some ghost recording of All Right Now come in and THAT be the only recording of what could be considered the worst live moment in the history of the greatest band ever. . the moment it comes in always gets me. . The ending, the beginning, the middle. .When Percy says. . "That was ALS". . uhh no it wasn't. . PS When did the pyro go off and almost get Jimmy?? 40 years on, I have Seattle 7/17/1977 on for the first time ever (I have the vid and have watched it 20 times but never heard the SBD) and its not as bad as I thought it would be. . I hit about 10 anniversary shows through the year and while they have some awful moments, 98% is pure magic. .G O A T. .

Sticking to my agenda of trying to listen to shows 40 years on Ive got June 10th 1977 3rd night at MSG in the headphones tonight. .

This was an incredibly tight band and one of my favorite groups. That being said the way they handled Don Felder was crap. He didnt always get along with the 2 headed monster and had a legitimate gripe about the business side and the money. Before Felder came in the clock was ticking on the Eagles. .Ive read his book and seen interviews and he seems like a class guy. . He was a part of the classic line up and a huge part of their sound. He deserved better and ultimately got his due in court. That always bugged me about these guys that they always had to be the kids with the most toys. . Now with Glen gone one original member (Don) theyre no better than Foreigner or Boston or Deep Purple. . Don's sitting on a pile of money. . Its over let go and dont water down the legacy of the greatest American group of all time. .

Great posts in this thread luv!!!! Didnt get to see the JP/RP shows. . 1. wasnt really sure how to feel about the re-tooling of Zep songs (still dont like it) and 2. That was a really trying time in my life and $$$ was scarce. .

One of the greatest nights ever and the final Zep member I needed to see. . Flew up to Seattle for a week and this was my first night. . I needed 2 days of my vacation to recover:):)

These jokers with the Tarantura and EVSD prices are out of their fkn minds at $100+. . I dont see a lot of Scorpio or Graf at all. . Wendy's come around a bit but the price is usually too high. . I do see old LP boots and I feel sorry for the guys/gals who bought in the 80/90's because it seems you didnt really ever know what you were getting. . What about Boleskine Music?? And the Badgeholders. . did Winston give it some balls? It seems to lack any bottom end (could be my copy)
