  1. Hank Aaron one of the all time greats. RIP. I knew he had a long career. I looked up what his last great year was. 1973, playing the field in the NL. No DH there. 120 games 40 HR 96 RBI BA .301 OPS 1.045 at Age 39 So then I looked to see what other top sluggers had as good a season at age 39. I discounted the Steroids players like Bonds, A-Rod etc.. No one comes close at age 39 except Babe Ruth 125 games 22 HR 84 RBI BA .288 OPS .985 Willie Stargell 126 games 32 HR 82 RBI BA .281 OPS .904 Eddie Murray 113 games 21 HR 82 RBI BA .323 OPS .891 But he was in the AL so he likely was a DH that year.
  2. I was interested to learn something new about Page - when he mentioned the poet Christopher Logue and his jazz/poetry EP called Red Bird. I looked it up. Interesting. A few years back on this site I learned about Jimmy's work with the poet Royston Ellis.
  3. Dan Crary and Tony Rice Dan Crary and Doc Watson. This is actually a medley of Whistlin' Rufus and Ragtime Annie. Doc plays Rufus first, then Dan plays it. Then each takes a run at Ragtime Annie. Magic.
  4. There is software to rip audio from DVDs. I used Freemake, but that was long ago. I imagine there are better products now. You can also find these performances from bootlegs, many of which have been remastered very well, not from the official audio. You can find Danish TV, Royal Albert Hall 1970, Earls Court, and Knebworth on sites like Black Beauty and guitars101. I am sure there are others. The one show where the official release sounds (to me) many times better than any remastered fan version is Knebworth. You can also find great versions of most of these on YouTube, and there sometimes a download link is posted in the description or in the comments. When I used Freemake I could not figure out how to get individual songs, so the files I got where for each entire show.
  5. Since you are open to including official live releases, here are some suggestions. Achilles Last Stand – Knebworth - DVD Babe I'm Gonna Leave You – Danish TV - DVD Bring It On Home – Royal Albert Hall- DVD Bron-Y-Aur Stomp – HTWWW Celebration Day – TSRTS CD (original), for the 1973 versions, but I prefer the 1971 versions like Toronto 1971 and Osaka 9/28/71 soundboards Going to California – HTWWW How Many More Times – Danish TV - DVD Immigrant Song – HTWWW CD- A case could also be made for Osaka 9/29/71 soundboard In My Time of Dying – Earls Court- DVD In the Evening – Knebworth- DVD Kashmir – Knebworth - DVD Or, LA Forum 6/21/77 Listen to this, Eddie Moby Dick – Royal Albert Hall 1970 - DVD Nobody's Fault but Mine – Knebworth -DVD No Quarter – TSRTS 1976 original Over the Hills and Far Away – HTWWW Rock and Roll – HTWWW Sick Again – Knebworth -DVD Something Else – Royal Albert Hall - DVD White Summer– Royal Albert Hall - DVD
  6. From Jimmypage.com today. A momentous day, 51 years ago. I know what I will be listening to today. I played the Albert Hall with Led Zeppelin 09 January 1970 Every member of the band was nervous and for good reason. We had played the Albert Hall previously on the Pop Proms, but today in 1970 we were to headline our own show at the most prestigious venue at that time. During the previous year we had been putting in a lot of time in America and recorded the second album, released on 22nd October 1969. It was going to be a critical test of our ability; not only to our fans, but to the press and our families and all in attendance that evening. That evening I met Charlotte, my daughter Scarlet's mother.
  7. Wow! Fantastic. Did you use the same process on the Skynryd Old Grey Whistle Test footage you posted on YouTube? That is killer too.
  8. looks fantastic! So great to see all the smiles and goofing around. 56 hours of unseen footage! My goodness.
  9. The YouTube clip says it was posted in February 2011, so it would have to be a version released before that date. It is definitely Southampton 22 January 1973. To me, the best version of the show is this one that was released in August this year. The drum sound is incredible.
  10. For that kind of money I would want something like deluxe box set multitrack audio for Japan 1971, and the Pontiac video in Blu-Ray. Throw in the restored Bath 1970 footage and we have a deal. But if you act now there's more! Order today and you can also receive the complete set of 1973 Europe soundboards remastered by Jimmy Page.
  11. I have been working on playing a simplified version of this tune.
