  1. Sorry to hear about your dad(s). My father and I shared Zeppelin together also - he gave me his Whole Lotta Love mono single when I was young and I shared many shows with him as the years went by. I lost him last month also - seems like Zep has a hand in many generational relationships. Good luck and God bless.
  2. Texas Pop Festival 8/31/69, enough said.
  3. I do have part of the Atlanta show from the 28th on cd. I picked it up at some used record type store back in the 90's. I don't remember the label, but can look it up later. I also had a hook up with just about every show from the tour on video tape. I bought the shows I attended and also a number of Japanese shows - which were so loose and amazing. Good luck.
  4. CANCER SUCKS! It has taken too many, too early. Peace, love and prayers to the Wright family and all of those who knew this great musician. Use the time, while you have it.
  5. Oh my ..... Very sad day indeed! Rest in peace Richard. Your family will be in my thoughts. I still cannot believe this, was he sick with anything? Peace to all who were close to this great musician.
  6. I attended the Tampa show from the 4th row. It was my first time seeing Pagey and it was magical!! When I was attemting to get to my seat, Pagey was at the side of the stage - I yelled "Pagey" and he looked and waved - that started an amazing evening! Loved the bow with the lasers, the Dazed jam that followed, etc. The guy that sang - John Miles (?) was pretty good. Over the Hills... was awesome and In My Time Of Dying was unbelievable. Jimmy was mesmerizing playing that slide Danelectro. Of course Jason was on drums for that tour, which was very cool. It was a great, great show!
  7. I saw them once at the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando in about '91. Great show! Keep rockin' boys!!
  8. Jimmy is not going to fan the flames on this. If it happens, ever, it will be because there is not a huge media storm while they are planning it. Again, if JPJ, JP and Bonzo Jr. make music that would be fantastic, anything else is gravy. Don't expect the unexpected.
  9. I was blasting a tape of the BBC '71 show while at Spring Break when some people from Ohio stopped by to listen. They invited to their room for a party and played a tape of Destroyer for me. I dubbed the tapes and Cleveland '77 became my first bootleg. Kashmir was a mess (spliced) but I loved hearing those later songs live: Ten Years Gone, Nobody's Fault and I also loved the way Pagey ended Trampeled, the tone of his guitar etc. Obviously now I have a much better version of that show, but it was my first!
  10. ^ How about the voice overs that can be heard during Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, I later read that the tape they recorded with couldn't be fully erased and so you can hear other takes bleed into the final mix. As far as Dazed goes, what a great jam beginning the section after the bow solo - really gets everything reved up quickly. There were some mistakes - as with any Zep show when trying to improvise so much - but remember this was the 1st time they ever performed a concert as a group. I had to tell myself that the first couple of times listening to the show. It was kinda like listening to those '69 shows again, with them trying to find each other's limit and direction. I know it's not the same but with Bonzo they had played so many shows and knew each other so well that we cannot possibly, fairly compare this show with those tours/shows.
  11. NO! We received both quality and quantity from them during their time period. What bands release 8 stellar studio albums in 11 years time ('69-'79)?
  12. My version of How Many More Times from SF (4/27/69) cuts off just as Robert is about to wail - "got you in the sights of my......loooooovvvvvvvveeeeeee". Which sucks because it is a very raw/hot version of the song. As far as Thank You goes, it was GREAT some nights - Orlando '71 version comes to mind. Celebration Day is a great one that cooked the few tours they played it!! Eye Thank Ewe!
  13. I LOVE Vancouver 3/19/75, what a great vibe and show! Also the Valentine's Night show from Nassau, NY '75 is a great vibe show. Sound quality is not great but Plant is very entertaining and they were very loose.
  14. I do not know the name of the group that first wrote "As Long As I Have You", I have heard it said before, but do not recall it. The show is from April 27, 1969. I have other versions, but it is just so raw and Pagey's guitar is so powerful!!
  15. No Quarter - my fav. is 5/24/75 Earl's Court (my 4 year old stops and runs to his chair to try to play the piano/drum jam) TSRTS - LA '77 As Long As I Have You - SF '69 (First 3 songs just smoke!) I also really enjoyed them playing Sick Again. Just a great 2nd song with a frenzy solo/drums + bass jamming/Robert wailing Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that's right!
  16. Without Robert: Page, Jones and Bonham With Robert: Zeppelin II As said earlier, just say thank you if they come out with anything at all!!
  17. I thought so, but Stairway was played more often than Since....? I know that SIBLY was played in Jan. '70 and was only missing on the short '75 tour. Stairway didn't surface until spring '71 and of course was played every tiime from that point on. Hmmmm...... Thanks for the data though.
  18. What was up with NBC's sound that night? Costas was waaay louder than Lewis or Pagey's guitar!
  19. Nick, if you look at the number of shows they played from late '68 until Dec. '69 (which is when I first saw WLL on their set list), they played A LOT of shows. '77 tour was only 3 1/2 months and '80 was 1 month. Heartbreaker was also not played much during '75 on top of what you already said. So, without statistical data to back me, I think it's Dazed, WLL, Since..., and then Stairway or Heartbreaker.
  20. I was wondering if anyone has ever checked to see what song was played most by Zep. Obviously Dazed was played from the start until 5/25/75. Whole Lotta Love wasn't played until late '69 but was played every night from that time forward. I would assume that the 3rd and 4th most played songs would be Since I've Been Loving You and Stairway. So what does everyone think?
  21. This will be the ONLY part of the Olympics that I will plan on viewing. Interesting that Guy Pratt will be playing with them - I guess David Gilmour isn't doing anything as of late?! I do view it as an honor for Jimmy to be chosen to represent his country. It seemed that Led Zep were never treated very respectfully by the UK back in the day. The Stones or Paul McCartney would seem to have been the choice selection, based on how they have been stroked for years. Go Jimmy go!
  22. Happy Birthday Percy - keep your terrific sense of humor, you are truely the greatest front man in rock 'n roll history! Peace.
  23. ^Well said. Everyone is different in times like that. It is all speculation. Enjoying everyone's input on this thread, I had heard about JPJ wanting to quit in '74 and I always assumed it was due to their constant recording, touring and hard partying - but this has been a very educational exchange of information (for the most part). Peace.
