  1. Yes, that group would have amounted to nothing because a band with two drummers and no bass player would suck.
  2. Why not? There are some great shown on the 80' tour. There were also shitty and mediocre shows but the tour as a whole was pretty good. Not exactly Japan 1971 but nowhere near as bad as many make it out to be. I find several shows (Rotterdam, Zurich, Frankfurt, Mannheim, Munich) quite enjoyable.
  3. No counterpoint so, you just post something juvenile. You are such a wordsmith Steve, a regular Kurt Vonnegut.
  4. Buffalo 66 was a great film and Ricci gave an incredible performance. Vincent Gallo on the other hand is a total self-absorbed asshole. How one could go from Buffalo 66 to Brown Bunny speaks volumes about Gallo. I believe humor is subjective to culture, most English will prefer English humor to American. Latins' LOVE telenovello & lucha libre. Indians love that goofy, Bollywood type humor.
  5. Zeppelin's own collective statement from December of 1980 proves, or at least alludes to your statement being wrong on a few levels. Zep had it right, it was the chemistry between four musicians, replace any and the chemistry would be off, it would not be Zeppelin. Of course Relf's sisters statement is silly because Page was quite successful as a studio musician before hand and likely would have found another vehicle if he had not joined the Yarbirds. The level of Page's success through such a divergence can never be ascertained. My point is these groups, with these musicians. You remove JPJ from the picture and the whole structure of Zep changes. Black Dog and several other songs would not even exist, or if they did would be radically different to the point where they would be completely different songs. Of course this different version of Zep could have been as successful, but it would have been different. So my saying Zep would be "nothing" without Jones is both accurate and in-accurate. They would have been a completely different band.
  6. Yep, many of these "artists" are more inclined to be shrewd business people first, and musicians / writers second. Take, the Beatles. Yoko always gets the bum rap for breaking up the Beatles but that honor falls at the feet on one person Sir Paul, Mr. Control Freak. McCartney kept refusing Harrison's songs for the albums so he could place his songs and reap the lions share of the royalties. Did the same thing with the more experimental tunes Lennon wanted to do. Turned into the McCartney Band by the time of Let it Be. Then there are the Eagles, Don & Glen, nothing more to say there. The good thing for us as listeners is in most instances, the "second bananas" really care about the music first and foremost, are "get along" types, and thus are happy they are helping to create great music, credit or not. This is why Lennon said what he said about Ringo vs. Pete Best, "Pete was a better drummer, Ringo was a better Beatle." Sometimes the biggest bands and musicians are just that not because of amazing songs, but because of excellent business acumen at the cost of everything else. Being a good business-person is obviously advantageous, but doing so at the expense of everything else is just sad. Yes, I am talking to you Gene Simmons.
  7. Led Zeppelin The Doors Pearl Jam Fionna Apple Black Crowes
  8. You are being a misogynist and that is simply ignorant and unacceptable. Maybe they were very nice ladies? Maybe they were not ladies? Maybe the tapes were never stolen and Jimmy simply lost them while on a bender. Either way, knock it off with the generalizations. How would you like it if you were referred to as "some INCEL dude?"
  9. Yep, just like Mick Ronson. Bowie would have been a flash in the pan without Ronson, just as Zep would have been nothing without Jones.
  10. Reminds me of when Lou Reed released The Raven in 2003 and then went on tour. Dude only played The Raven and a few of his newer material. Refused to play his old stuff. Well that lasted for about three shows until the ticket buying public got wind and his ticket sales began to dry up. Next thing you know...BAM! Reed decides to have a mixed set of older and newer material and his tour is saved. Like it or not, that majority of fans want to hear the hits, you don't play them, they won't come. Unless you are the Dead or Phish, then you have no hits and your fans are super-high. Its a niche market.
  11. Man, I love a good stout, especially during fall & winter. Nice, hearty brew with, IMO, more complex and mellow flavor palate than most other styles. On the topic of beer, when the hell did the aim of an IPA become to shove as many hops as possible into the fermentation? Most taste like a glass of hops placed in a blender...blech. Of course I love me Scotch Ales. Skull Splitter is simply the best.
  12. I find myself a bit bemused and befuddled by his statement, simply because I have always thought Stairway's lyrics were timeless and ecumenical. Sure, he uses heavy symbolism and texture, but I always got the point quite clearly. Now Misty Mountain Hop or Whole Lotta Love may have less than timeless lyrical value outside of the context of the times but Stairway? I can understand him not wanting to sing it as Plant is "Mr. Don't Pigeon-Hole Me, I am not a jukebox" man, but the lyrics and vocal delivery? His delivery was very tasteful, and even the end where he is screaming out the vocal is really not over the top and fits perfectly with the journey of the song. Mr. Plant, you confound me
  13. Actually, Arizona, but close enough. Just being a silly ol' bastard.
  14. That is cerveza del diablo, straight from Old Scratch's nutsack. Never partake of the devils brew, lest you succumb to Chathulu's call!
  15. I hear ya, this is, IMO, Plant's best vocal performance on record since Zep IV and in his top five overall vocal performances. Plus, Jimmy plays his best blues solo on record in this song. Why Zep did not perform this, instead of SIBLY during 79'-80' shows is a pity, a missed opportunity, and a right damn shame.
  16. Sorry but no bueno. My mother used to be a buyer for Saks and I know exactly how much "high end" clothes cost to make vs. retail price. On average your "high end" American or European made sweater for instance, made from cashmere, costs Saks about $60 per from the manufacturer. The retail cost of that same sweater is around $500. Both European & American high end clothes are still made in sweat shops almost exclusively with labor costs around $2 - $8 per garment max. Markup vs. actual cost is insane, don't buy into the bullshit. This swag costs maybe $15 - $20 to make per garment for the most expensive of these offerings, and that includes materials and labor. Add advertising and cost goes up another $5 per garment. No thanks
  17. You mean Mary-Mo, she's a vegetarian. She don't eat meat, but she sure likes the bone
  18. Now THAT is funny BTW, whatever happened to Saxon, those naughty boys.
  19. I believe he was Lemmy's fluffer???
  20. Jesus Christ, has Jimmy been mentored by Gene Simmons??? What's next, action figures? Pajamas? Official Zeppelin condoms? "LZ brand condoms, we make sure your Hindenberg does not go up in flames!"
  21. It's a tough call but i have a soft spot for both Spartacus & Ben Hur. Of course the book Ben Hur was far superior, but it wold have been a six hour movie. I grew up on those great, epic movies with grand vision and scope.
  22. The reason for this is obvious as the census must count ALL people, not just citizens for the purpose of accurate allocation of funds to states. Having a citizenship question on the census would defeat the very purpose of the census in the first place. That and it comes a bit too close to the fascist or communist "list making" by the government.
  23. Have to agree with you on this (transgender in sports) as eventually the money will win out and we will have teams dominated by transgenders. I would also not be surprised within a decade or so some jackass throwing around the idea of "augments" if I can use a Star Trek term. That is, humans bred for sports which would be a hybrid of a man & woman. A mans strength & speed matched with a woman's greater flexibility and endurance. If anyone thinks this could not happen just look back in time a few centuries and study the Castrati. A pre-science solution to combine the power of the male voice with the female register and timbre. They need to make some serious rules and now. Only natural born women should be in womens sports and vice versa.
