redrum
Had to watch it again. I love the old pavilion. What a place that would have been to explore.

Strider
I have seen five of the 10 2022 Oscar Best Picture nominations so far. All but one ("Belfast") in the theatre. Purely by coincidence, all five have been "period pictures". "Belfast" 1966 Belfast, Northern Ireland. "West Side Story" 1957 NYC. "Nightmare Alley" 1940s U.S. "Licorice Pizza" 1970s L.A. "The Power of the Dog" 1925 Montana. I definitely prefer my movies to be free of cellphones and iPads and other Millennial junk.

Strider
Well...two out of three ain't bad. Unfortunately, "India Song" was exactly the type of film that people who hate foreign films think they are all like. Like "Death in Venice" and "Last Year at Marienbad". Not even 'Hugo Drax' could save it.

Amy Schumer is about as funny as a colonoscopy. Even worse, they have decided to not award 8 categories on the telecast..editing, original score, production and set design, etc...you know, the folks that actually have knowledge of their craft and work on a film. But no, let's have more room for stupid jokes and dance routines.

Any tsunamis heading that way? 😄
Strider
"I believe in America". The first words spoken in this American classic released in U.S. theatres exactly 50 years ago on Friday March 24, 1972. Thereby reinvigorating the moribund gangster genre. Strider
The local cinema is showing 18 Takashi Shimura films over the next month and a half. Starting with these three. 1948's "Drunken Angel" was Toshiro Mifune's first appearance in an Akira Kurosawa film.
Strider
Howard Hawks double-bill over the weekend. And classic cult horror. And tonight...an IB Technicolor print of Howard Hawks' "Rio Bravo" and an early John Carpenter.
