Ady
http://www.planetrock.com/Article.asp?id=1713602&spid=35748 THE GREATEST LIVE ALBUM TOP 40 Thousands of you voted and now we know once and for all that Thin Lizzy's Live And Dangerous is the Greatest Live Album of All Time. The 1978 album has been repeatedly accused of containing more overdubs than live material, but that doesn't hide the fact that this is a definitive "live " record - it captured the band's stunning live energy and sound absolutely perfectly across a tracklist that probably couldn't have been bettered, and that, after all, is everything we could ask for. Deep Purple were so close to stealing this one at the last minute with their classic Made In Japan, and UFO's Strangers In The Night wasn't too far behind either. Rush deserve a notable mention for being the one band who's fans successfully sabotaged their chances for the Top Ten by splitting the vote rather spectacularly across three albums in the Top 40. Here's the Top 40: 1. Thin Lizzy - Live & Dangerous 2. Deep Purple - Made In Japan 3. UFO - Strangers In The Night 4. The Who - Live At Leeds 5. AC/DC - If You Want Blood, You Got It 6. Judas Priest - Unleashed In The East Rory Gallagher at #28 - too cool! I would've have thought the Allman Bros. would have been farther up. That's a great album. And missing is Bob Segar's Live Bullet, which to me, blows many of those on that list away, and Cream's Live half of Wheels of Fire, which is truly stunning. But, hey, it's just another poll. Jahfin
There's so many omissions to that list I'm not even sure where to start but one would definitely be Little Feat's Waitin' For Columbus.
Wolfman
The first album by Jane's Addiction is a live show (XXX Records) and it's pretty damn good.

Poindexter
Lou Reed`s Rock n Roll Animal didn`t make the list? Disgrace.
kaiser
Lou Reed's "Rock 'n' Roll Animal" is fantastic & should be on there. I didn't take this list seriously the moment I saw the Stones "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out" only at #33. This list is definately done with more of a European rock fans taste than an American's because you would be hard pressed to see Status Quo on any American rock fans list for ANYTHING unless the list was for "The top bands I always heard of when reading an English or German rock magazine but have never heard an actual song from them and don't have much interest in doing so." Wolfman
TSRTS hands down. close topic. end of discussion. I still think TSRTS is better than WTWWW. The middle jam during WLL takes the cake.

Strider
Am I correct in saying that the "greatest live album poll" does not include Celebration Day? Enough said... Celebration Day hadn't even been released yet when the poll was conducted, CJW. No outrage necessary.
