FireOpal Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Is that really true about Morrissey and the Undertones? Never heard that one before, and I used to be a devoted fan. I know he was in a band (The Nosebleeds) with a pre-Cult Billy Duffy when they were teenagers. P.S. I don't think The Doors would have just carried on indefinitely with a predictable album/tour cycle if Jim had lived. Each member of that band was/is intelligent and creative with many diverse interests - in music, film, literature and theater. Jim would be a writer certainly, and most likely involved with experimental films and plays. Coverdale / Page was rumoured to have J.P Jones and Jason Bonham Hendrix was going to join E.L.P Paul Jones was asked to sing in the stones before Jagger Morrissey was asked to singing for a reformed The Undertones in place of Fergal Sharkey Noddy Holder ( slade ) was asked to join AC/DC before Brian Johnson Ronnie James Dio was asked to join The Sweet in 1979 Glenn Hughes was asked to Join Earth , Wind & Fire Paul Rodgers & Phil Lynott were the original choice before Coverdale & Hughes in Deep Purple Quote

I read that the The Undertones were offered £200,000 to reform for six shows around 1990 , Fergal Sharkey said no ,so they asked Morrissey they were asked to reform to celebrate John Peel's 50th then 60th birthdays , but Fergal said no they have since reformed with a new singer I preferred That Petrol Emotion Quote
Strider Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Hendrix was going to join E.L.P What if Keith Emerson had joined Led Zeppelin in 1973 Now you're just being silly. Don't derail your own thread...at least, not this early in the game. What if Bob Dylan and Duane Allman never learned to ride motorcycles? What if Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens amd the Big Bopper don't get on that plane in 1958? What if Randy Rhodes stays on the ground? Quote

FireOpal Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Oh wow, i haven't thought of That Petrol Emotion for years. They had the American singer, right? And the rest of the band were ex-Undertones from Belfast. I enjoyed Feargal's solo hits also - "A Good Heart is Hard to Find," written by Maria McKee of Lone Justice, what the heck ever happened to her... Quote
