Charles J. White
Did a search and found no thread for T-Rex which I surprised me, thought there would be one. So here is my fav tune by the band, and the line "Love the way you walk" makes me think of my Mrs when she walks. Also love the bit about 'love the golden cat', I dated a blond once before many years ago, and her golden cat was fun indeed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lyAkYCE_l8 Edited January 22, 2015 by Charles J. IpMan
I dig T-Rex and I like this song, however it sounds a little too similar to Bang a Gong to me as far as the arrangement goes.

osoz
T-Rex fan here, they had their own groove going on, I kind of understand it isn't for everyone. Still haven't gotten over Marc's death, don't think I ever will.
Strider
I dig T-Rex and I like this song, however it sounds a little too similar to Bang a Gong to me as far as the arrangement goes. 90% of T. Rex sounds like "Get it On (Bang a Gong)" haha. While there are a couple of songs on "Electric Warrior" that still hold up ("Cosmic Dancer" being one), I am sick of "Bang a Gong" and "Jeepster" and much of the rest is filler. No, to me "Slider" is the best T. Rex album...the most consistent and varied and it's not played to death. "Spaceball Ricochet", "Metal Guru", "Telegram Sam", "Rabbit Fighter", "Slider", and the brilliant "Ballrooms of Mars" all stand heads and shoulders above "Bang a Gong". Too bad that when I finally got to see T. Rex live...in 1974 I think?...he was quite the disappointment. That lacklustre tour kept him from ever really breaking in the U.S. and probably led to his early death. Three of my favourite T. Rex songs...http://youtu.be/mCUIuCuzdIIhttp://youtu.be/JB6WZu8IAZghttp://youtu.be/v5pw8BNPn6U Don't forget to check out his earlier fairy hippie incarnation as Tyrannosaurus Rex. Plantpothead
Tyrannasaurus Rex YES, T-rash no, he sold out when he went electric, and his songs all became the same.
osoz
There is more of a legacy than the music to me personally. I do find T-Rex doesn't stand up to too much listening before it gets tired for sure as it is very repetitive but after a break from it I do enjoy it again. The TV show Marc though, there was so much for the kids of the day there and the show casing of punk bands led me to relating to punk and later goth in my teenage years. Marc wasn't exactly hard on the eyes either

osoz
Spot on JTM - my elder sister used to have hysterical fits in front of the TV whenever Marc was on, by the time of Marc's death though, she was away at college and it hardly seemed to have an affect on her. On the other hand I was younger and very much watching kids TV and Marc has a place in my heart from that time. I still think he was cool and many thought he was likely to move on and was perhaps even going to relaunch his career when he died. He had lost a lot of weight and seemed to be cool to the kids again. But it wasn't to be.
