  1. I have only recently heard more than the 2 Sabbath hits I'd previously heard (Paranoid, Iron Man) thanks to RebelFM rock station here and Weeknights with Alice Cooper. So I can't comment on changes. Only to say the more I hear, the more I like. I'm a bit of a music and hard rock mushroom. Apart from Zeppelin, I have until very recently been mainstream.
  2. For sure. A lot of their songs are happy and irreverent. Black Country Woman - one of my favourites for it simply being just a cheeky little grin of a song. A great joy. And even reflective more beautiful songs like Ten Years Gone or The Rain Song have such a beautiful emotive sound. Not what I would say is akin to happiness, but so beautiful and deep. They are some of the best listening. None sad. Tea for One is a little wistful, not one I go back to a lot I must admit.
  3. ACDC are two different bands. I absolutely LOVE the Bon Scott albums. Back in Black, mostly written for Bon, was pretty good, but Brian's voice never sat well with me. Bon had a cheeky Aussie way about him that shone through. Brian just grates my nerves to be honest. Angus was good enough to keep writing enough great songs to keep the success, but they were nowhere near what they were and nothing like what they would have been with Bon. The lost potential there is staggering. Just like with Zep. And yeah, no way EVER could Freddie be replaced. Probably the best rock singer/showman EVER.
  4. I don't know, assuming they continued, and were rising again (Jimmy/Peter reigning it in somewhat, a scare pulled them back from the brink, and another album was another winner) Continuing to give almost no TV could have worked for them. Their album sales were fine, and their reputation was the live gigs. I don't know the "new generation" that was tv obsessed would have hurt much. But then again, they might have begun exploring TV on their own terms. Peter Grant spoke in that interview on the Thames posted here recently how TV was not an option because it just sounded shiite. There might have been a revisit to that thought with advances and possible opportunities. Like I say - on their terms.
  5. Unreal. Should have been a bit longer per song, but unreal.
  6. I'd really like the reaction vid of those kids with some RAH tracks with video.
  7. Captain obvious here, hi. WSBMS, any show (or any I have heard, surprised if it is not all) from 1980.
  8. ....or yes please. Along with other pieces that pay tribute, a live box set is most welcome.
  9. I realise I am betting on the long odds, but I remain optimistic. I'm sure you will gladly eat your words should he get out there.
  10. LOL. - think of it this way, a perfect excuse not to play. This project come up and I had to focus all my time on it. I do still think he'll play something somewhere with someone. And I hope it includes JPJ.
  11. Live releases. Earls Court DVD and a box set with something from each period. Thats not too much to ask is it? I also think Jimmy and John Paul might play together in some capacity. Why not Jonesy? If Jimmy wants to get back on stage, who better?
  12. How Many More Times - in my view, the greatest thing ever recorded to video tape. Closely followed by the concert recording as a whole. For all the brilliant moments for all the video out there, TSRTS, the DVD, boots, THIS, is the pinnacle. If you were introducing someone who loved good rock music and had "heard a bit of Zeppelin" - and showed them this, there is a good chance their face would melt. Not only was the band and music captured perfectly (audio and video), the crowd, and a sense of being there is also conveyed. The intimacy of right beside Bonzo as he adjusts his seat, stepping forward with Jimmy and John Paul, and Robert in his perfect front man glory. There is just nothing wrong with it. Well actually, the one gripe - it should be a complete stand alone release. It DESERVES to be.
  13. Cheers, grabbing flacs from the vinyl now. Will listen on the plane tomorrow. Can't wait!
  14. hey all, what are the best songs from the 24th? Any that are among best ever? (sorry - no doubt covered already)
  15. I thought horse was the problem, not the solution. Maybe something a little more "up" That night?
  16. Oh that would be OUTSTANDING... Could do a world tour and fill a helluva lotta venues.
  17. Would one of you fine people be able to recommend, and maybe point me to, the best release of the 24th? I only have MP3's. Would love to give this a proper go in best possible quality sound. Please PM me if you can share the love. Cheers.
  18. Spring has sprung here. going into the 30's (celcius) this week. Still no rain. Hasn't rained since about March. The lawns are all brown and dead everywhere you go. Water tanks long empty. It's going to be a nightmare summer I think this year. No relief from the heat except for the butal summer storms that no doubt will hammer us. Best wished to all those in the southern states in the US.
  19. Mine was Custard Pie for a fair while. Loved it. Back to ye-olde-telephone standard every mutt seems to have.
  20. I searched 'quadrophenia flac' on PB and there are 5 or 6 on there. Not many seeds, but thats what you get with older stuff. Theres even more if you don't mind mp3's. http://www.guitars101.com/ is also a handy site.
  21. Try pirate bay to start. That's where I am initially searching. I also have my own CD collection that I need to re-rip. I used to use CDEX to rip, but I'll be looking into what is available for FLAC (not sure if CDEX rips to FLAC). If you need Physical Graffiti again, I don't know why you would not buy it again, I would!! Love having the physical albums You don't need to pay anyone anything. If you have a computer, you have the same technology I have! I'm happy to help where I can. You just need software to rip any CD collection you have (free), and a few internet places to search for those you don't have. Bargain bins at stores are good to troll. I also plan on spending some time and $$$ hunting through bargain bin CD tables and grabbing whatever appeals if its just a few bucks.
  22. Got my Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless yesterday. Tested with a few choice boots directly attached to PC - verdict? - WOW. Another level and a half UP. Hearing new things like chatter from Bonzo between tracks that I could hardly make out before. Clarity is better, and I get to pump it LOUD (can't go max, it's too loud, so happy with that) Even the flac's on my phone sound better through Bluetooth. (still not sure if the APT-X codec is in play) Will now need to re-rip all of my CD's to FLAC and hunt around to upgrade my music library from mp3 to flacs where possible. Damn happy days....
  23. That was fantastic. You could hear how tired he was. A real gem.
