  1. Crikey, I thought he was just joking re: the photosynthesis. I wonder if the Manticore studio is still in existence. It looks like it wasn't big on creature comforts, kind of like a dilapidated factory.
  2. Holy crap, I thought it looked exactly like her but couldn't possibly be her! She's a cool lady, I loved her book. What a beautiful, atmospheric video. Page is a feckin' superstah.

    FULL MOON

I love the Native American (and other traditional) names of the full moon, they're so evocative. I have a songwriting book somewhere that suggests using one of these full moon names in a song, as an exercise. These are the neopagan names: January - Wolf moon February - Ice moon March - Storm moon April - Growing moon May - Hare moon June - Mead moon July - Hay moon August - Corn moon September - Harvest moon October - Hunter's moon November - Snow moon December - Winter moon This is one of my all-time fave songs and videos, Echo & the Bunnymen "Killing Moon": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqvruTNSWqI
  4. While mired in traffic this morning, I saw a bumper sticker on another car that made me laugh out loud: "ON MY WAY TO WORK, PLEASE KILL ME". That's some dark humor there but I dig it.
  5. Here's another article about the Prochnicky book being released in October: http://www.examiner.com/x-10109-Lexington-Music-Examiner~y2009m8d25-Led-Zeppelin-photo-biography-due-out-in-October I wasn't impressed with his Jim Morrison bio that came out almost (yipes!) 20 years ago. But this new Zep book is a "photo biography" so it sounds like something no one can mess up
  6. This photo is from 1987; Les Paul is signing Jimmy's shirt after signing his guitar
  7. That photo of Joan and Jimmy is awesome! Thank you. Joan's got a rock 'n roll heart, to quote the Clapton song - she's a true believer.
  8. I remember the tv interview where one of the members of Skynyrd made the claim that they blew Zep off the stage. I'm pretty sure he said it was at a festival in England - Donnington, perhaps? Or maybe it's just a firmly held but faulty memory by the Skynyrd member, like my otherwise-sane insurance man who is convinced he saw Zeppelin in concert in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania despite the fact they never, ever played anywhere near Harrisburg
  9. Ogawd, that's hilarious. I wonder what Robert replied. Probably something very droll.
  10. Woah - I think that may be Boleskine he's standing in front of. Not sure.
  11. A pet locust? How cool. Why just one though? He/she/it may get lonely. As for what made me happy today - this article made me smile: 'Stoned wallabies make crop circles' Wallabies have been observed acting strangely in poppy fields Australian wallabies are eating opium poppies and creating crop circles as they hop around "as high as a kite", a government official has said. Full article, and photo of a very cute wallaby, on BBC News site: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8118257.stm
  12. My goodness, that's the elderly Groucho Marx. I didn't know he was a Zeppelin fan.
  13. That darned Bahamas tourism commercial, sung by an adrogynous person going, "ooh la la la, ooh la la - it's better in the Bahamas..." Still though, it's not as bad as Ronniedawg's affliction
  14. Did Ross mention if Jimmy quit smoking as well? Ta.
  15. Can anyone tell what the green bottles are - O'Doul's non-alcoholic beer?
  16. Bong-Man's bunny looks SO EVIL!! It's freaking me out a bit. Let me contribute a little sweet bunny mojo into the mix, to restore the balance:
  17. Is that Jimmy's dad, on his right?
  18. "The Great Hunger: Ireland: 1845-1849" by Cecil Woodham-Smith, about the Irish Famine. I've been meaning to read it for years. It is excellent, despite the shocking/grim subject matter. It's deeply humbling to know what 2 of my County Mayo ancestors endured.
  19. Was it around this time that Jimmy took a few guitar lessons from John?
  20. Wow! Never heard that version before - extremely cool. Who's playing the country steel guitar - Brian Jones?
  21. It's a pollutant on the ground but not in the stratosphere. In common parlance, I'd assume Robert was using the word ozone to refer to something/someone "most high"
  22. Stern is vile and stupid. Robert has more class in his toenail clippings than that wanker.
  23. Why would James Patrick deny the existence of the London All Star - British Percussion Barclay BB-86 (1965) record - is he ashamed or maybe he just forgot?
  24. Do go on, please! I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to hear the details
  25. Lovely - thanks for sharing, Knebby. The football one is particularly striking. You took these?
