  1. You seem to be trying to bait me into a fight. I respectfully decline. Go fish somewhere else.
  2. No, not at all. If you recall, I said there was a 'chance', not that you definitely were a troll. The timing of your arrival and the content of the first few posts I read from you just struck me funny. The Led Zeppelin IV analogy isn't quite valid. What I consider Led Zeppelin's best album shifts all the time...Led Zep IV, Physical Graffiti, III, I...it's hard to choose one and I expect it is like that for most Led Zeppelin fans. But to say Coda is their "finest hour" is like joining a Van Halen site and immediately posting that Van Halen III is their best record. But hey, if you really like "Coda" that much, kudos to you for sticking to your guns and traveling the road less traveled.
  3. Clippers historically are awful against the Spurs...their recent record vs. San Antonio is 3-21 or something like that. Clips are at home which does give them some edge...don't have the point spread handy...who is favoured? This is a bellwether game for the Clippers. This will give us some sign if the Clippers are ready to step up and be the team everyone expects. If the Spurs win, then it's SOC...same old Clippers. Lakers @ Jazz tonight...I'd take the Jazz, Rick, if you don't have to lay too many points.
  4. Don't forget my pathetic Raiders...who are surely gonna get whacked in Baltimore this week.
  5. Definitely one of the surprises of the night. I would have thought Oregon would legalize it before Colorado.
  6. That reminds me...how is Priscilla? The quality is excellent, Rick...and cheaper cost than street level. That's been my experience with the places here in L.A. Not saying anymore, hehe.
  7. ^^^ Good to know, Ady. Got bored with election news, so I went to see the matinee at the museum: "The Caine Mutiny" with Humphrey Bogart, Van Johnson, Fred MacMurray, and José Ferrer. Bogart is great, as usual, as Captain Queeg. Fred MacMurray's character reminded me of both Romney and Ryan. Anyway, a great way to spend a couple hours and a great escape from the chattering boobs on TV.
  8. It's BACK in LA, too! Nov. 13 at three different theatres! Woohoo!
  9. It's always a pleasure to watch the Eagles suck! Goodbye Andy Reid. Goodbye Michael Vick. Overrated hacks. I haven't seen such Red-Zone incompetence since...errr, since the last time I saw the Raiders play. Cough, cough. Speaking of the Faiders...it's time to pull the plug on this season and realize Carson Palmer ain't gonna be the answer. What is needed is to play Matt Leinart and see what he's got. Even if they want to keep Palmer, if Leinart looks good, the Raiders can use him for trade bait. Do you realize EVERY TEAM in the NFC East lost this past weekend? 9-7 or even 8-8 might win the Division again.
  10. Aha! So you did! Timeless classic.
  11. I believe the Jan. 31, 1975 Detroit concert is the last performance of "How Many More Times" by Led Zeppelin. I don't have the Feb. 1 Pittsburgh show, but I do the Feb. 3 MSG one and by then they had dropped HMMT and brought back D & C. Page & Plant also performed it on the 1998 Walking Into Clarksdale tour, complete with bow interlude.
  12. Edited due to being lost in transmission...
  13. ^^^ You'll hear from me later tonight but until then...
  14. This makes 4.28.77 sound like a Mike Millard production.
  15. Outdoors. At the beach or in the pool.
  16. March 11, 1973 Ahoyhalle, Rotterdam, Holland. Audience tape released on TDOLZ vol. 62, entitled "A15". Ladies and gentlemen, we have another contender for the "most incompetent taper" award. This is nigh unlistenable at times...not because of the performance but because the sound quality is atrocious. "Whole Lotta Love" is an affront to competent tapers everywhere.
  17. "WOW!" is a word you will frequently find yourself saying listening to 1971 Led Zeppelin.
  18. Until it does come out on CD, just burn a cd copy from your DVD.
  19. For Pete: Good topic and insights to what separated the Beatles from many others. George Martin's approach to orchestration was crucial, and you can see how John Paul Jones learned from it as well by the way JPJ orchestrated the Rolling Stones' "She's Like a Rainbow". They knew that for rock music, it was best to use only certain segments of the symphonic orchestra and to leave the syrupy strings behind for the most part. Woodwinds, brass, cellos, violas...those worked best. And all in moderation. That is why the George Martin produced Beatles and the Led Zeppelin and Page/Plant orchestrations work better than the heavy-handed approach by Phil Spector's "Let It Be" Beatles sessions, Deep Purple, ELP, Metallica and others trying to meld rock and the symphony together. It just comes off as bogus pomposity. For Dallas Knebs: Great link...a truly mind-boggling read. And it also made me appreciate the clear and readable design and format of this forum compared to others. Thanks Sam.
  20. For those hyperventilating, the phrase 'finest hour' is not meant to be taken literally.
  21. Dustin Hoffman doesn't strike me as a Zeppelin fan. Now the conversation between Buddy Guy and the lads I would love to hear. Or Natalia Makarova. I love David Letterman, too...more for his 80s NBC show. But I don't know if he's a Zephead. Too bad Conan O'Brien wasn't getting honoured this year...we know he's a huge Zephead!
