  1. ^^Speaking for myself, I would like to apologise to you Strider, CJW (since he is the one who started this thread) and to any other forum member who I may have annoyed with my post in this thread. Anyway, here are with a few songs which are bound to make Christmas absolutely swingin', this year! These are some of my absolute fav songs to listen to this time of year, apart from "Christmas Boogie" by Canned Heat and of course that fab Christmas album by "The Ventures"

  3. Thank you so much, Walter! I'm doing great! Hope you're doing well and give my best regards to Mrs. Walter! Cheers to you!
  4. Thanks Paul!! Love the birthday smiley graphics!
  5. Thank you so much, Sean! Cheers to you!
  6. Hiya Morgan! How are you? Been a long time, been a long time, been a long lonely lonely lonely lonely time! I'm alive and well and I'm back on the forums like a bad penny! Thank you so much for the birthday wishes! "Happy Birthday" by "The Beatles" is one of the songs I always listen to on my birthday. I know it sounds a bit cheesy but no other birthday song sounds that groovy!
  7. You're very welcome Morgan! Hope you had a lovely birthday!
  8. Well, it's the 16th of October in my neck of the woods. So... Many Many Happy Returns of the Day Morgan (a.k.a Sathington Willoughby)! Cheers! Preetha (a.k.a Kiwi)

  10. The following song happens to be the first Blues song to be ever recorded (the original year of recording was 1923 but this version below, is from 1927) and the artist (Sylvester Weaver) was the first to use a slide guitar! This instrumental is just so sublime! Here's another by Sylvester Weaver. The sound quality isn't the greatest, but it is still awesome, IMHO!
  11. Anyway, apologies for going off topic. Allow me to make it up by posting these:
  12. Well, from the sound quality, I could sense that those 78's were in pretty rough shape. But to be honest, I didn't really mind because this was Son House, for crying out loud! I know the guy barely recorded and to even get to hear these Blues gems, was definitely a stroke of luck! Hi Wally! I am so tempted to get both comps! I am just nuts about Son House's music style! The only problem is with my budget! *Sigh! I've been literally driving myself nuts trying to narrow it down to just one compilation, but it is just close to impossible!! But I guess I could splurge a bit (without feeling guilty) what with my birthday coming up in December Cheers for the advice!
  13. Finally recovering from a horrid bout of food poisoning!
  14. Hi I have a question for all Son House fans out there and I hope someone can help me out! I first discovered Son House thanks to the amazing and pretty voluminous Charley Patton box set compilation called "Complete Recordings 1929-34", wherein I discovered beauties like "Dry Spell Blues". So anyway, I am going to purchase my very first Son House album on CD in a couple of weeks and I have narrowed my choices to 2 titles: "Father of the Delta Blues : The Complete 1965 Sessions" "The Complete Library of Congress Sessions : 1941-42" So, my question is how do I decide which compilation to get? Any input will be much appreciated! Cheers! ***Edited for a typo
  15. BUMP! I would like to recommend this fab American, French and Swedish quartet. They are part of the record label "Nuclear Blast" (the same label who signed up bands like "Graveyard"):
  16. Many Many Many Happy Returns of the Day to my best friend on these forums (and also in 'real life') : 'Magic Fills The Air' Miss you loads, sweet heart! <3
  17. Here are 2 more video games that I remember playing pretty often during my childhood: At this rate, we might have to start a separate thread for vintage video games!
  18. Hell yeah! Even folks like Bugs Bunny or Yosemite Sam seem to be more serious and intimidating contenders for a gangster rather than old Mr. Nips here!
