I agree, teachers cant do more for making kids smart than their parents. Whihc is probably why Asian kids do so much better in school because they want them to prosper. Is Oakland another one of those areas where education is on everything other than math and science?

I think the problem is teachers pay should be rewarded based on performance. If the students don't do well they should get less than the minimum. If the students do great then more than average pay. In what other business should somebody expect more money for worse results?

news said he went in the hospital with pnumonia a few weeks ago. Probably got the flu and it got worse. So many older people get pnumonia and then the infection spreads. A shame if that is how it happened. Wasnt cancer or heart attack, something that may have been prevented if he had gone to the hospital a little sooner.
