  1. They were trying to weaponize Hendrix into literally blowing peoples minds. Jimi had a problem with that as Jimi was always down with the people, can ya dig it! Well, his manager had enough of Jimi's kumbya, Dr. Funkenstein nonsense and killed him. They knew the funk had to be stopped and The Man stopped it. Jimi was simply too funky. Oh well, round #1 to The Man, but once Prince came on the scene, the funk was simply too strong in this one. His interstellar funkadelic mojo The Man simply could not fight. One nation under a grove CC.
  2. Just stop, go back to your silly vaccine thread with that nonsense. You're like the kid at recess who just has to ruin it for everyone by shitting in the sandbox.
  3. I agree, the Seattle show is just OK IMO, there are several better shows from 75' such as the Montreal-Phily run in early Feb. Yes, Plant sounds rough in spots but the instrumental machine is hot. New Orleans is a great show until the end when Page shit's himself. San Diego & LA right after are fantastic shows. I love 3-27 simply for D&C alone, one of the best versions but the whole show, though not technically perfect by any means, is wildly experimental and never boring. But for really solid, overall shows from 75' I think 5-18 & 5-23 are the most solid and consistent from start to finish for all four.
  4. No doubt. I think Plants relationships and loss aged him quite a bit. Just look at how much he visually aged from the 77' tour & Knebworth. That was pretty drastic IMO. Then starting around 88' you can see him looking a bit haggard here and there. But Page, starting around 2002 he started looking really healthy and young-ish. I believe that's when he stopped perming his hair and let it go white. This is when he finally stopped drinking alcohol all together and he lost the chubbiness he had. Jimmy & JPJ both look good for their ages, old Robert does not look bad per se, but he sure looks like he has quite a few miles under the hood.
  5. Page is damn lucky he and Keef made it out of the early 80's alive with their respective lifestyles. It still amazes me the constitution both Page and Richards have. To do as much drugs as they did, for Page to lose so much weight he could pass for Karen Carpenters shadow and still be using heavily is simply astounding. When I see these 77' shows and see Page running about, jumping with the double-neck while in the condition he was in, just blows me away. I am surprised scientists have not studied blood samples from Page & Richards to determine if they may be aliens, or carry some super-gene which allows them to treat their bodies like amusement parks from hell, yet are healthy as a pair of 5-year-old Clydesdales. I just finished listening to 6-13-77 and what a show, except for a few minor flubs in ALS the rest of the show is fantastic.
  6. Figured I would give this a bump due to what's currently happening in Ottawa with the truckers. According to several stories from the AP: The city is literally under siege according to residents and the cops are doing nothing about it. Residents being beat up, assaulted, spit on, etc. The protesters even went to far as to storm a soup kitchen for Indigenous Peoples, demanding to be fed and when someone from the center tried to explain the place is for down and out Indigenous people, they beat him up. This is crazy as the local PD refuses to do anything yet is right quick to crack down when Indigenous Canadians protest. The RCMP really want to come in and clear out the protesters but the local PD refuses their help and Trudeau is staying on the sidelines. This protest is a result of the mandate that all truckers who wish to cross from Canada to the US or vice versa be vaccinated. Though I am fully vaccinated, with the info which is coming out and has come out regarding transmission, I do believe at this point it should be a personal choice as long as you do not work in healthcare or with the elderly. So I believe these truckers may have a just issue, however their execution is horrible and if true, it seems this is less about a vaccine mandate and more about pissing off a liberal government with the townsfolk getting the brunt of their wrath. To the Canadian Zeppers out there, is this true and accurate, or is this hyperbole and nonsense?
  7. My aunt & uncle were very successful restauranters from the 70's to 1998 when they retired, had five restaurants. My uncle told me being a successful restaurant or bar owner is super easy as the mark up is absolutely outrageous and the patrons pay most of your staff wages. He told me insofar as making good money by working hard, owning a restaurant is the way to go, almost no way to fail or not make money...almost. My uncle told me the reason why so may restaurants & bars go out of business or have trouble is because the majority of people who go into such business are good-time Joe's who think the hospitality business is party all the time. Problem is, your staff will steal you blind if you don't watch them like a hawk and never have a business partner as they will always F you. My uncle or Aunt were always there running the place when it was open, always, no exception. So my uncle would get there at 6am and work until about 3pm, then my aunt would show up around 2pm and work until 9pm. They made bank and never had a problem. They also paid a decent wage so they had no issue with staffing but if they caught anyone stealing or not doing their job, no excuses, they would be immediately fired. They were good to their staff and expected the same in return. It's laughable when these restaurant owners, and especially corporate owned restaurants make that silly claim that they are "barely getting by" under the best of circumstances. Sorry, but no one, and I mean no one, much less corporations, go into business to just "barely get by." That would be akin to a movie star claiming making only 10 million on a movie is "barely getting by." Simply nonsense.
  8. Thanks for the insight Chill, I thought things had become a bit more equitable in the UK but obviously that is not the case. Completely agree about London, place was always a rip-off. Whenever I travelled overseas, I always stayed at hostels outside of the major towns. First time in the UK back around 87' I paid $3.00 a night for a semi-private shared room. The large communal room was $1.50 back then. Those were the days. I have not stayed in a hostel since the mid-90's which was the last time I backpacked across Europe, the middle east & North Africa. I have always been super low maintenance as it is the experience which I enjoy. Just as long as the place is relatively clean, I am good to go. Even camped out a bit for the fun of it. Used to plan it all out...booked hostels, check; 3 month Euro-Pass, check. Those were the good old days of travel
  9. Just curious, what is the average pay rate for servers in the UK? I bet it is higher than 1.57 pounds which is what is paid in the US to servers. Now I must admit it has been over 20 years since I last visited the UK and I did tip but every time I did the server said it was not necessary but appreciated. In the US if you don't tip there is a good possibility your server will follow you out to the parking lot. I remember one time in Paris I went to tip the waiter and he politely told me doing so in France was considered an insult. Made sense as my hamburger and frites cost me $22 and that was in 1998.
  10. I understand your perspective however in Europe, those servers are paid a very decent wage and therefore do not need tips. In the US however servers income is around 90%+ of their income. If you don't tip a server in the US that server only made about $2 for serving you. Believe me, I think tipping is wrong as an employer should be paying his / her employees a living wage. Why should I, the consumer have to pay someone's wage directly to them when they have an employer? My aunt & uncle owned several restaurants back in the day up to around 1998 when they retired. They told me only a complete moron fails at a restaurant / bar business because the markup on product is simply insane and the majority of your employees salary is paid by the customer. I guess he was right as he owned five restaurants and was loaded. I did ask him what makes a successful restaurant / bar and he told me two things: If the place is open, you or a family member you trust must always be there as your employees will steal you blind otherwise. Second, a restaurant / bar is a business, its not social time, its not a big party, its work. Most people don't understand that and by the time they do they have lost the business.
  11. What is the purpose of a nose-ring anyway? They look stupid and make it difficult to blow ones nose. Every time I see someone with a nose-ring I think of those bulls with the silly things. Beards I don't care about though I do get a bit jealous as I cannot grow one. I can barely grow a mustache and goatee ala a 14 year old Mexican kid. The man-bun thing is another dumb look.
  12. Wow, this is downright quaint compared to today. In fact, there is no way such a story would even run on MSNBC that is how anti-business this spot is. Talk about times having changed! Only 2 million, that is hilarious! Queen Bey & Jay Z would blow their minds with their accumulated wealth. Sir Paul would be a robber-baron of the most scandalous ilk by this metric. Now this video is a serious reality check to those who believe the tone in modern day America is anti-capitalist.
  13. Just saw a commercial for a new Chevy Truck during the Chiefs / Bengals game which was pretty good. Had a cat pretending to be a dog, was not overly long nor annoying. I would give this three & a half Draper's on the McMann & Tate scale.
  14. No doubt, both manners & common sense are dead. I have never blown my nose in public, never. Most people are filthy animals!
  15. You got that right, Kath kept it all under control until he no longer could. Such a tragedy, such a loss.
  16. Definitely a Spinal Tap moment. Robert in interviews was always a cheeky sort with the ladies, Mr. Double Antandre himself with the sly smile and a wink. If he tried that today...OYE!
  17. Robert's Rick James, cocaine moments for sure. Once he quit the coke he never made those ridiculous ad libs and Plantations again. He still did his between song banter but he pretty much stopped the 14 year old stuff.
  18. This nonsense is a result of a miserably failed US foreign policy with Russia & NATO from the 90's. Once the Soviet Union collapsed in 91' we should have dissolved NATO and encouraged a European only joint defense agreement which would have included the Russian Republic. The US & the West should have heavily invested in Russia to encourage and develop a free-market republic. Instead we essentially ignored Russia which allowed the gangsters to take over and then a former KGB director with delusions of grandeur and a vision for a new Soviet state, to seize power. Now we have this bullshit. I think one way to stop this nonsense with Putin would be to get OPEC on board, flood Europe with cheap oil and cut off that Russian pipeline. That will change Putin's mind right fast as Russia is pretty much bankrupt and that pipeline is its main source of income. Of course that will never happen 😞 That's my 2 cents, my silly contribution to Real Politik.
  19. About 15 years ago, before I met my wife, I was dating a woman 10 years older than me. She sure did not look it, she was in fantastic shape and just a sweet person. Turns out she was a groupie hanger-on back in the 70's if that makes any sense. The way she explained it she liked the vibe of hanging out with the rock stars but never slept with any of them as she came from a devoutly Jewish family and was literally afraid her family would exile her or something. Anyway, she said she met and hung out with Zep during the 75' tour when she was 17. Told me she mostly chatted with Bonzo & Mick Hinton, that they were both very nice and in good spirits. It was right after their show in LA on March 12th 75'. I guess I always loved the whole experience thing, a woman who's been around the block a few times and can teach me a thing or two. Now that I'm in my 50's, should I ever find myself single, I think I will have to look a bit younger unless Sandra Bullock or Julia-Louise Dreyfus are up for a go 😉 Now back to topic. What do you think about all the shows either already out or coming out which deal with the occult, secret societies, etc. Shows like Archive81, the first season of True Detective, Strange Angel, and Incantation? The best IMO was Strange Angel & True Detective season 1 especially. They really dig deep and get into some seriously disturbing shit. Especially as TD season ! was partially based on a true story. Strange Angel is really good, all about Jack Parsons and the OTO in California in the 40's. Even Mr. Crowley makes and appearance 🙂
  20. Hey, to each their own as long as the person is over 18 and consenting. For me though at 53 there is absolutely no way I am going to find any common ground with any woman under 30 and honestly at this point I doubt I would consider dating anyone under 40 if I were single. For me if there are no shared experiences and points of reference I simply cannot be attracted. Beside the fact I would likely wind up dropping their "device" in the nearest toilet at first chance since most cannot seem to keep their hands off them for more than 10 seconds 😉
