Thanks so much Ev for starting this thread. And there can't be a Michael Jackson appreciation thread without this video, which IMO is one of the best that was ever made (by anyone)

Thriller

Rest in Peace Michael - it's still so unbelievable to me that you're gone. Your music will live on forever.

i,m shocked by his passing.

i'm certain he was innocent of the child abuse charges.

i hope the parents who made the claims, in order to make money out of a vulnerable man who, was one of a kind, have their cumupance.

the world has lost it's greatest single entertainer.

:'(

Beautiful and yes, very very sad :(

Listening to it really makes me want to bawl my eyes out. :(

They played it last night at the end of Wimbledon on BBC, and then I saw the crowd singing it outside the Apollo Theater in Harlem. I never appreciated just how emotional the song could be.

I think listening to that really made it hit home that he's gone. I mean, I know he passed away but I guess it seemed so surreal that it hadn't sunk in. Don't know why that song sort of made it real but as you said, it's about how emotional a song can be.

For all things positive regarding Michael.

Holy Cow! Thanks, Evster2012! I've always played this CD track for my friends who are much younger than I at work. It's so wonderful to see Michael singing it, his beautiful face full of joy at being in his element! Also, his marvelous dancing, he was a nascent little moonwalker back then! Amazing...also crazy guitar riff at the end! (fade out part). (reminds me of Jerry Garcia's riffin' at the end of Shakedown Street." Can't help but play "air guitar" to it! :D

Edited for grammar: preposition usage :)

The rest of the Motown performance with his brothers.

Hey, thanks, NickZepp...awesome! This was right before the Billie Jean tv debut. I know because that moment is forever etched in my mind as it blew me and my family away when it first aired on TV back in the 80s. ;) That's one act I'd hate to follow. :D

Edited to add: there are very very few moments of TV that are permanently fixed in my heart and mind. (Had to pick my jaw off the floor) They are:

1. Billie Jean

2. Mets World Series, game 6 (1986) and last but not least

3. How Many More Times from Danmarks Radio performance, 1968 from the DVD

Yeah, Billie Jean, never forget it--we sat there saying "how is he doing that? is it trick photography or what?" Then when I got the album and listened to the song, I realized what a classic it is in its own right.

Whatever idiots might be saying about him now, nobody can take moments like that away from him. :notworthy:
