aen27
"Dream On" (do I even need to mention Aerosmith?) always reminds me of Jimmy - but more for the sound than lyrics. That's how I think of "Rag Doll" and Jimmy, more for the sound. And Robert's version of "It Keeps Rainin" by Fats Domino.
danelectro
And this one by Van Halen: Top Jimmy Some friends of mine, just the other night, Went to hear this cool cat blow. The say he sang so good that the roof fell in, And they didn't even stop the show. They don't remember the place, but they remember the face, And now everybody wanna go. Top jimmy cooks, Top Jimmy swings. He's got the look. Top Jimmy, he's the king. Jimmy on the television, famous people laughing with him, Jimmy on the news at five. Jimmy on the radio and even on the video, That baddest cat alive! Driving all the women crazy, only want jimmy-baby, Love it when he rolls his eyes. Juke-joint jimmy is the latest thing, He's got the sound that everybody digs. And the joint been jumpin' when the band been pumpin' And you know they're playing crazy gigs. Well you ain't been living till you've seen the living thing, Top Jimmy and his rhythm kings. That song makes me think about the band it was actually written about, Top Jimmy and the Rhythm Pigs. I can't really think of any lyrics that make me think of Jimmy but I hear his influence in others playing. A notable player with a Jimmy influence is Elliot Easton of the Cars, his soloing in particular is very Jimmy inspired. songbird
I always think of Dear Mr. Fantasy by Traffic. Dear Mister Fantasy play us a tune Something to make us all happy Do anything take us out of this gloom Sing a song, play guitar Make it snappy You are the one who can make us all laugh But doing that you break out in tears Please don't be sad if it was a straight mind you had We wouldn't have known you all these years

It would have to be... White Wedding by Billy Idol because its so mysterious or The Stroke by Billy Squire because its awesome. Or whenever i see a Slim Jim!!! Gomper
Whenever I listen to The Rolling Stones "You Can't Always Get What You Want" I think of Jimmy Page. I know Mick must have been singing about their producer Jimmy Miller, but I think of Jimmy Page. A part of the song, You can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want But if you try sometimes well you just might find You get what you need Oh baby, yeah, yeah! I went down to the Chelsea drugstore To get your prescription filled I was standing in line with Mr. Jimmy And man, did he look pretty ill We decided that we would have a soda My favorite flavor, cherry red I sung my song to Mr. Jimmy Yeah, and he said one word to me, and that was "dead" I said to him You can't always get what you want, no! You can't always get what you want (tell ya baby) You can't always get what you want (no) But if you try sometimes you just might find You get what you need Oh yes! Woo! Heartbreaker_Girl
Shooting Star by Bad Company, because of the awesome solos, and if they would change Johnny to Jimmy... Jimmy was a schoolboy When he heard his first Beatles song Love Me Do, I think it was And from then it didn't take him long Got himself a guitar Used to play every night Now he's in a rock 'n' roll outfit And everything's alright Don't you know? Jimmy told his Mama, "Hey, Mama, I'm goin' away Gonna hit the big time Gonna be a big star someday" Mama came to the door With a teardrop in her eye Jimmy said, "Don't cry, Mama Smile and wave goodbye" Don't you know? (Chorus) Don't you know that you are a shooting star Don't you know Don't you know Don't you know that you are a shooting star And all the world will love you just as long As long as you are Jimmy made a record Went straight up to number one Suddenly everyone loved To hear him sing the song Watchin' the world go by Surprisin' it goes so fast Jimmy looked around him and said, "Well, I made the big-time at last" Don't you know? Don't you know? (Chorus) (((((I'm going to say the rest WITH OUT Jimmy)))) Johnny died one night died on his bed bottle o' whiskey, sleepin' tablets by his head, Johnny's life passed him by like a warm summer day If you listen to the wind you can still hear him play (Chorus) (Chorus) Or Rebel Yell by Billy Idol, not the words, the guitar. justwastintime03
Well, this always reminded me of Jimmy. It's a Shakespeare sonnet (#128). It always seemed the lyrics fit him perfectly: "How oft, when thou, my music, music play'st Upon that blessed wood whose motion sounds With thy sweet fingers when thou gently sway'st The wiry concord that mine ear confounds, Do I envy those jacks that nimble leap To kiss the tender inward of thy hand, Whilst my poor lips, which should that harvest reap, As the wood's boldness by thee blushing stand. To be so tickled, they would change their state And situation with those dancing chips O'er whom thy fingers walk with gentle gait, Making dead wood more blest than living lips. Since saucy jacks so happy are in this, Give them thy fingers, me thy lips to kiss." Oh, and also Leon Russels "Superstar". Beautifully covered by the late great Karen Carpenter. a clockwork tangerine
I heard Uriah Heep's "The Wizard" for the first time the other day, and I immediately thought of Jimmy. Here's the lyrics: He was the wizard of a thousand kings, And I chanced to meet him one night wandering, He told me tales and he drank my wine, Me and my magic man kinda feelin fine. He had a cloak of gold and eyes of fire, And as he spoke I felt a deep desire, To free the world of its fear and pain, And help the people to feel free again. Why don't we listen to the voices in our hearts, Cause then I know we'd find that we're not so far apart, Everybody's got to be happy, everyone should sing, For we know the joy of life, the peace that love can bring. So spoke the wizard in his mountain home, The vision of his wisdom means we'll never be alone, And I will dream of my magic night, And the million silver stars that guide me with their light. A very nice classic rock song with good lyrics. The "eyes of fire" reminded me of that scene in TSRTS where Jimmy's eyes glow red.
