  1. So this is where Bonzo's drum set auction comes into play. This is a wonderful thing but... I would think the members of Led Zeppelin would easily be able to make this funding goal??
  2. There are two audience sources. I actually prefer the first one issued on TDOLZ way back to the later issue from Empress Valley.
  3. WTLB was my top pick too. I've used Kashmir, Custard Pie , Wanton Song. I've also used Bonzos solo ending of Dazed and Confused from TSRTS. That one startles people and makes cats scurry.
  4. eBay auction would probably fetch a good proper value. If he's not already a seller though it could be daunting getting through all the initial account set up crap. An auction site might be easier but the commission may be more. I'd love to bid on it but it would probably exceed my budget!
  5. That's a later 70's pressing , most likely after 1977. SD 7201 is the original catalog number. SD 19128 issues are from around 76-77 onward. I am not sure about those signatures. Maybe you can compare them to other authentic ones online. Very hard to know without some kind of reputable provenance.
  6. Yes, better instrumentally but Plant is in rough voice , possibly worse than Southampton. I love that show though, Bonzo is on fire!
  7. I agree with this too. There are moments that stand out and would be worthy of official release but too many gaffs in that show overall. I really , really wish they would at least do a best of Earl's Court full show release, or maybe Copenhagen Warm Ups 7/24/79. There are definitely a few tunes from Southampton that could make the grade for an officially release compilation of live performances , chronologically perhaps. Come on Jimmy...give us something great for the 50th anniversary!
  8. I'm no expert but...the inclusion of a true audience source to give space and ambience is a much better option IMO than trying to artificially enhance a SBD with sound program effects if two sources are available. There aren't many 73 board tapes that I can think of that sound much better as a result of sound enhancement. Most end up sounding over EQd, over amplified, noise reduced. There are a few exceptions but most of the time the original flat board sounds better. IMHO, the matrix I did of New Orleans 73 sounds much more enjoyable than any boot release that has been a "remastered" SBD of that show. There are very few shows pre 75 that have a board and audience tape both available so not many matrix opportunities outside 75 -80. Sue Dounim did some nice matrix work with Seattle 77. I'd like to hear hear more from 77 as those boards are mostly very flat and harsh sounding. For 77, I'd love to hear some attempts at Ft Worth, Landover shows or the Garden shows. Those are the only options for a matrix.
  9. The Rain Song for me too. The lyricism of the melody, harmony and even Plants lyrics are all exceptionally beautiful. My favorite part is the end, the coda. That could've been the seed for another sublime tune.
  10. Agreed. Played and sung with a lot of feeling.
  11. Absolutely, I agree with this... however, there are many clams especially with Roberts vocals, and Jimmy, which would have to be fixed. I doubt they would sign off on mistakes being put out there officially, especially Robert.
  12. Thanks for the clarification, and thanks for all you've shared!
  13. I assumed this was from Knebworth rehearsals or a soundcheck because I assumed they were outside on a hot night. Weird and unprecedented way to dress for a gig, like they're just back from a day at the beach.
  14. Is this the pic you're talking about? I always wondered what the story was with this pic. Must've been a hot night!
  15. I'd go with either EAP or Winston, but each will give you different feeling as they're primary sources are different as noted by Strider and others. Personally, I love the old Cobra Standard release. The audio is bright and clear , with a great sense of atmosphere.
  16. Totally!!! Page's solo is one of his all time greatest IMO. Wish they'd do a new cut with alternate footage of the band playing. Honestly those "fantasy sequences " always bum me out as I'd much rather see them playing than watching that self-indulgent attempt at "art". Except for Bonzos which is down to earth and unpretentious.
  17. It could be worth several hundred dollars depending on the issue, where it was pressed, the condition. Check discogs.com for comparable copies. You'll have to compare matrix numbers , pressing plant codes etc. which are found in the dead wax runoff.
  18. Sorry if this is an ignorant question but...was the band actually taped for projection screens , or were the images just simply projected?
  19. Poor Naptown, no love. Not much happening there but its not all that bad, they have an excellent art museum, some decent restaurants. One of the greatest guitarists ever is from there....Wes Montgomery, so that's a point of pride for that town.
  20. Word! Empress Valley, if you're reading this. I for one will buy your release of Sept 28 1971 SBD. Just please don't make it a $400 combo with the AUD only. A 3 disc set, priced realistically, please.
  21. I've seen comments that say Empress Valley has threatened this may be their last SBD exclusive release. Exactly what does that mean? Are they going to hoard what they have forever , or destroy the tapes they've acquired ?? Or return them for their money back?? Or, maybe they don't own Zep anymore boards?? Maybe one thing they can do is offer a fairly reasonable 4 disc set of just the SBD. I think there are plenty of fans who would drop $100 -$150 for the artwork and the silvers. Even after downloading it just to hear it asap. Collector mentality. I've succumbed to the temptation from time to time.
