  1. Great tribute, that song sounds absolutely haunting with Robert on Vocals. I as well hope he comes to the states with this band. We need to appreciate these guys while we can. All of them from this generation. But back to Robert, he sounds incredible!
  2. Way late to the get together. But Tony’s rendition of the Rain Song was incredible. Man that guy is super talented. It also just reminds me of how talented our beloved band is. Those guys were just out of this world from 1968 through 1976. Yes, Presence is one of, if not my favorite albums. Either way, just thinking of the 1st through the 7th album and their achievements. It is seriously beyond reproach. They were just 4 master musicians doing their thing together. And it was incredible. Thank you to the 4 of them for being so brilliant! Cheers everyone. Be well.
  3. I dig this review Gibson. Man these guys were just out of this world! What I think about through your reviews is just how much energy these 4 gentlemen put out on a nightly basis. It’s incredible. I can’t think of any other band that ever did anything like what they did. Certainly there are many, many amazing musicians, and many incredible performances, performers over the years, but these guys in their prime were not like anything or anyone ever. I wish their was more video of them. Thanks again for these reviews. They are very good.
  4. I watched this performance this morning. It was cool to see those guys on stage and hear that rendition. Good for them. What a troubadour Plant is. Playing acoustic, I would love to see Jimmy do something acoustic at some point. He doesn’t need to shred Wanton anymore. I just “wanton”to hear him, I have also come to accept that it probably will not happen. I’m okay with it, he gave us as much as anyone could ever give musically. He is simply the greatest ever and I’m good with it.
  5. That’s hilarious! You have a way with words my friend. A word smith! Please support your argument. There have been some very interesting developments lately with respect to TFG and his representation. The ROTFL 🤪 part is they have all said under oath he knew for sure he was absolutely bullshitting the country and the quack job Cult Members. He was absolutely embarrassed that he lost. But I would love for anyone to show me the information that they have to change my mind. I would love to see that I was an absolute ass hat and that missed all of the scandalous voting. The funny thing is all the people who were caught were on the right. But again Mr. ROTFL jackass, please show me any evidence. Simpleton.
  6. I guess I would say the radio friendly songs are smoke on the water, and Hush. There might be a couple others, I was trying to be kind. The funny thing to me is, they claim to have sold a 100 million albums, they have sold a total of 8 million in the US, and just over a Million in the United Kingdom. So I suppose the other 90 plus million was in Asia and other parts of Europe. I find that laughable. Their highest selling album in the US sold just over 2 million units. That is far below the worst selling Zeppelin album ever. I think Coda sold at least that many. I don’t know if you were disagreeing with me, or agreeing. In any event, comparing the two bands would be like comparing the Durham Bulls in the Minor Leagues against the Yankees. Comparing Page and Blackmore is also crazy. Page is as Santana said building Mansions when others are building houses, Paul Stanley who I don’t particularly like has also said that Page is a painter, comparing him to anyone is just simply not fair. He is head and shoulders above everyone. The proof in that would be all of his compositions. Blackmore didn’t write Kashmir, Song Remains the Same, Tea For One, the Rover, Ten Years Gone, Sick Again, Trampled, In The Evening, Stairway, hell, anything near any of the songs on any of the albums that Page wrote, produced, played and directed for lack of a better word. Again, I have absolutely tried to enjoy, and to listen and to appreciate Deep Purple. It is beyond rational to say that they were and or have ever been in the same league and level as Zeppelin. I will again go back to who now knows anything about them. I’m talking right now. I know for sure that kids growing up today know about Zeppelin, House moms know about them, old people, teenagers, their music is way beyond some Heavy Metal screaming. I will absolutely agree that I sound like a jackass saying this on Deep Purples thread. I get it. I apologize for it. I just simply can’t let someone try and say that they are a similar band. Jimmy, Robert, Jonesy, and Bonham would 100% agree with what I have said. I’ll rest my case with that alone. But they do have some catchy songs with some cool guitar, and they are a very good Bar Band.
  7. “ROTFL!!” Well what would you disagree with, and what facts and or evidence do you have? Dispute any of it, please post articles that are from any reputable publications or news agencies. I don’t want to see blogs. Or FAUX news. Asshat!
  8. Hello, We will have to disagree. They are no where in the same league. The proof is in the pudding. Record sales, knowledge of the band, radio play, album play, the general public being aware of who Deep Purple is compared to Zeppelin. There are many levels of how they are no where near the band and or talent that Zeppelin is. They are a great bar band, and I absolutely disagree that Blackmore is anywhere near the songwriter, player live and or studio, producer, arranger as Page. That’s laughable. Jones is 100% superior to anyone in that band on any instrument. Robert and Ian are like the Yankees and Cleveland Indians/Guardians. 1 is incredible, the other is serviceable and was specifically chosen to sound like and look like the other and that is straight from Blackmores mouth. Ian can’t hold a candle to Plant. That is like Weird Al verses Prince. The proof to that comparison is what is Ian doing now and what has he been doing since 1975 compared to what Robert has been doing and what he is doing currently. There are some musicians that will mention Deep Purple or Blackmore because they like to sound interesting and intelligent. I’ve listened to all of their stuff, I’ve tried to like them. They are influential to a degree, they were not playing in the same stadium, the same league, the same sport. In Zeppelins catalog there are maybe 4-5 songs that are thought of as less then great. DP has maybe 2 pretty good songs. I would like to finish by saying that I don’t find them appealing at all. I love many bands, I can appreciate any genre of music if it is good. DP are not my cup of Tea for Two. Really who gives a shit of what I think, or what you think. Enjoy what you want. Think what you want. I’m all for that. I’m also for facts, and the facts show that Zeppelin and the Beatles and the Stones and Clapton and Hendrix are in 1 league and a lot of other people are below, and some are way below their level of talent. I’m not the decider of that. The public is.
  9. Hello SHN, I have traveled the country extensively, I have also lived on the East Coast for a short time as well as lived in the South more appropriately Florida. I have also traveled to many different countries. I’m not baited at all. I like civil discussions. I don’t think flags and signs have anything to do with it. I would also like to point out that there has been a lot of evidence showing that Trump knew he lost, tried to fight it, and in my personal opinion is throwing democracy into question. We are a republic Democracy. When I hear and or read people saying we are a Republic it is downright ridiculous. North Korea is also a Republic. There are levels to this. On voting rights and or qualifications I agree with you. I am absolutely for ID, and registration. Not a problem with me at all. If you and or anyone thinks that rally’s are a sign of the country and how they are going to vote, or how they reacted during a pandemic I would just say I disagree. The Country isn’t a Right wing leaning nation. It’s not close actually. More Democrats than Republicans, and absolutely more independents like myself then either of the parties. I would love to hear what people think Trumps accomplishments are. I don’t want to hear Supreme Court Picks. There were 2 that were stolen and I would also like to have that conversation. But really what did he achieve as a president. From both sides it is getting crazy, and I am concerned for our country. If there is any evidence that the election was stolen I would absolutely love and appreciate the evidence. It’s amazing to me that literally everyone in his government was saying it is absolutely bullshit, and to get a good lawyer as a result of what they were doing. I appreciate you asking the question and I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions on this as well. Have a great night.
  10. Man, growing up in the 80’s and remembering Nick at Night and watching the Monkeys and we never had a thought about how old it was at that time. Goddamn I feel old.
  11. That is an awesome set. My brother has an almost identical set. The sound that it puts out is amazing. Can’t wait to hear some new music Red.
  12. I concur. Great list. Honestly any show that we do not have available or access to would be appreciated.
  13. Hey Man! This is a badass list. I have gone back and listened to these shows and specifically this song. You have hit the nail on the head my friend. Amazing list 1975-NQ. Absolutely amazing. You have changed my mind not only on this song/performance, but also some of these shows. Great work my friend. Seriously man thank you. Great job. Have a good night NQ.
  14. I suppose it is competitive when you are in your 30’s or even your early 40’s. I would say that Mr Coverdale absolutely copied his style for a decade or so. I’m not mad at it, he did a pretty good job of emulating Robert’s style and delivery. He certainly didn’t steal anything from anyone. As I’ve have heard, being able to Beg, Borrow, or steal is and should be considered as flattering. As far as doing that record with Jimmy, I found a few of the songs to be interesting. Personally the lyrics of that album bother me. But what the hell do I know. I do remember being excited that Jimmy was playing and putting out an album. What’s funny to me looking back on it, my mother and father grew up in the Bay Area, attended early Zeppelin shows in 69 and were able to see them a bunch, but I remember my mother thinking that Mr. Coverdale was Robert Plant. She thought that because of his look, and his style and his delivery. I have a distinct memory of arguing with her and telling her that David was not Robert Plant. To be honest, I don’t know that I got through to her. I will have to ask her. Either way, he is certainly someone we should all appreciate as a musician. He did some cool shit, wrote some cool songs. I don’t really care if he lifted, or took someone’s style. He was someone that a lot of people looked up too and appreciated during that time. I know I have personally been hard on him over the years. Really when it comes down to it, who gives a shit, he had some great songs and sung them well. Hats 🎩 off to David Cover-Plant.
  15. Hey Steve, what was your feelings/thoughts of the building back in 98. If you do not mind me asking, what was your favorite part of the building? I also wanted to personally say thank you to you for all the amazing contributions and insights you have given over the years. I have gone back over the last couple of months and have read all of your topics and to say I am impressed would be an understatement. It’s very impressive, and honestly it is important to us as Zeppelin fans. To that I say thank you. Have a great night Mr. Jones. AKA Steve, AKA Steve A! AKA Steve A Jones!
  16. I agree with you. She isn’t Rock and Roll I suppose. But she is a fantastic writer, she has had a ton of hits, she is certainly very influential. I know that the Rock and Roll Hall is slightly confused to say the least. I have been thinking lately that Robert needs to be in as a solo artist. His body of work in my opinion warrants that achievement. I am surprised at the musicians who are not in yet. However, it is a flawed method of choosing who and how people get in. I would also like to visit, just to see the talent that is enshrined. Have a great night Stryder.
  17. Well that is about as obvious an answer as I can get. Thank you for that. I suppose the hopeful part of me always wishes for these things to pop up when we do not expect it. However, more then happy with what we have been given. Thank you Strider.
  18. My first Page and Plant show was May 20th 1995 in San Jose. Awesome show, I have a radio bootleg of that performance that was given out to stations. I got 2 of them, I opened and played 1, kept the other in its sleeve thinking it would be valuable some day. The funny thing about that show, had amazing seats right behind page and the stage. Robert called San Jose “ San Juan “ and was booed for it. It a funny joking way as if you don’t know where you are at. Robert and Jimmy being my 2 favorite musicians alive I gave Robert a pass. My Pops, who had been at the April 69 shows at the Filmore with my Mom was with me. It was my name day a couple days before. What an amazing show. I remember being tripped out that they were doing Shake My Tree. Robert crushed the performance of that song and show. I remember waiting on line at Tower Record store in Mountain View all night to get tickets. That experience alone is amazing and something that we will never see again. And I personally think that it’s sucks that we won’t. It was part of the experience. I digress, an amazing show, and by 98, they were on fire, specifically Jimmy. He was out of this world, I purchased as many bootlegs from that time period as possible, in the range of 20-30, and Jimmy from 96 on was just at another level. Maybe some of the dexterity was gone, or speed? Perhaps, but his chops, progressions, fluidity, imagination, experience was on full display. I have some shows from 96-98, and his playing has brought me to tears on a couple of the occasions. I also have been very angry at Robert for calling it a day during that period. They were getting better. Kind of a prick to do that. Amazing performance, and my how the time flies by. Reminds me that I’m getting old.
  19. I appreciate the answer. I don’t agree with it at all, but certainly your insight, knowledge, and understanding of how all governments work I can appreciate. It would have to have been on such a global scale that I can’t personally wrap my head around it. It isn’t just the Supreme courts, it is all the courts, 60 of them. Plus state electors, Republican and Democrat. All of the agencies that protect our country, heads of other states, secret service, FBI which is absolutely Republican leaning as an establishment and has been for years or more accurate since the beginning. It is so difficult for me to believe and to think that a global conspiracy was set up. I’m not saying I am right. Not in the slightest. I just would like to believe that as a nation, as a civilized democracy that we are not capable of that. By the way, if I read anyone say we are a Republic, and not a democracy. That is like saying I don’t have a Dog, I have a German Shepard. I absolutely think that Biden won. I know that a majority of the country couldn’t stand Trump. I hope he runs in this election, I honestly believe he will be trounced. In any event, I appreciate your answer, and your candor on all things Zeppelin, as well as many other topics. Have a great night Mr. Jones.
  20. I have been a massive zeppelin fan since the late 80’s early 90’s. I spent over 7-10 years collecting bootlegs all over Cali, and every state I visited, sorry to give me street cred, but what makes you so sure that these concerts weren’t multi tracked. I have reasons for thinking that that were not, but I also have hope that they were, I guess my question and point is why are you so sure, other then the obvious, that it was never released. I guess that is as good a place to start as any. But we know that there are shows that certainly were that have not been released by the band for whatever reason. I would like to say that I am in no way being combative, I would just like to hear your opinion, or anyones opinion that is in the know of the band. As a side note, I have been putting together all of my bootlegs, video tapes, Album bootlegs and I will be posting them to see if I have anything that is rare or not really out there and would love for someone to have it and be able to make copies. I may ask for some help of some of the older group or the people who are in the world of unreleased live stuff to help me out with it. But I have a treasure of bootlegs that I would want people to have and for copies to be made and for it to be available for all. Thank you for taking the time to read and or answer this post.
  21. Just a question, why did over 60 court cases, the Supreme Court which is heavily conservative, the AG who was hand picked, all of the heads of all of the conservative security apparatus in our country say that it was the safest election we had ever had in our history. I’m not asking this to be a Jack ass or to insist on an argument. But if the Conservative administration, with all of his hand picked judges, all of his court appointments, and beyond that, the actual Supreme Court of the United States said that it was absolutely safe and that every bullshit case brought before them never once was proven to be unsecured. The other question I have, is in every case that was brought before any court, they never once said that there was fraud. So meaning that TFG and his lawyers never at anytime in any case said that there was fraud of any sort. I understand the article put forth I’m not so sure about the actual validity of it. I guess I would ask, has this been verified by a non partisan group. If it hasn’t, and it isn’t part of anything other than a blog or something off of Breitbart/Brightshit or something else I have a hard time with it. I understand you work for a college, that is amazing and thank you for your work. Having said that, my Mother-in Law is PHD organic Chemist at Stanford who teaches there as well. And this type of thinking is certainly something I am familiar with as she lives with me and we discuss her school and the kids that attend her classes and school. But why did Rudy, or any of the other number of lawyers ever bring up anything that was of substance. As a matter of fact, when they were asked under oath, they each and every time had to say that they had no facts to back up any of the crazy shit that they were saying, just as they do not know now with respect to the classified material that TFG was in possession of. I am truly not trying to be argumentative, I just would like an honest answer from someone that may know more that myself, and may know more than any lawyer has ever admitted to in court on behalf of TFPOS!
  22. Angela was beautiful and it is crazy to think she was 96 years old. What a great life to have lived. God bless her and her family. That’s another person from the 80’s that was just a fixture in my childhood. That has to mean that I’m getting old. Awesome to see her star on the walk of fame Strider.
  23. You are absolutely correct about the Rosanne Barr connection. Growing up watching and evening at the improv, or the number of comedy specials we could get back in the early and mid 80’s, she was as funny as it gets. Not to mention being beautiful. RIP Judy.
  24. No doubt! Steve-Z and a some others have done some amazing work. It is beyond impressive, and it is to a lot of us very important.
  25. Wow Steve, thank you so much for taking the time to do all that you, and others have done and do. Seriously. Thank you very much. It’s absolutely amazing my friend. Be well, have a great night and I as a life long Zeppelin fan can’t thank you enough.I’m constantly blown away by the members of this forum.
