  1. Up close Page's shirt looks like fabric upholstery for a fancy couch. The white braids look like their textured and raised.
  2. Believe: Jim Morrison died in 1971 while taking a bath and is buried at Père-Lachaise Cemetery, Paris, France. Don't Believe: Amelia Earhart was taken prisoner by the Japanese.
  3. Oakland, California - 2 September 1970 - I sure do enjoy their take on For What Its Worth (all of them).
  4. I really enjoy the bands growth in musical maturity during these early years. Between the sets in 1968 - 1970 the band really evolved into an absolute powerhouse. I don't really care for the early shows at the Fillmore or Winterland but by mid and especially late 1969 I'm ALL IN! I really can't understand why and how a great music paper like Rolling Stone could get it SO wrong. I mean just listen to any of these shows between the first two LP's (and LP's themselves). Was there just way too much hype at the beginning resulting in a lot of haters? What they were doing was entirely different than any other band out there at the time. Shame RS would continue to get it wrong for nearly their entire career.
  5. As of this writing, I'm in the Human Resources office at Bagram Air field, Afghanistan listening to the organ solo/intro to Thank You from MSG - 19 September 1970 - Evening show. LOVE this gig!
  6. I'd say the other piece I look for is the promo poster for Zeppelin IV from Australia. If anybody has one - please message me. Thanks!
  7. I'm pretty satisfied with what I have. It's not much and with teenage children my "collecting" funds go towards their education and entertainment and travel. The one piece that I am looking for is a ticket from Reykjavik. Seldom seen for sale and commands a pretty hefty penny too.
  8. In January this year I was at a antique store and found a Zep II record with RH on one side and LH on the other. Not in the best shape, but not the worst either. Plus for $10 bucks it was a steal! I've never heard the "hot mix" until then and you can really tell a difference. I also grabbed a super minty fresh Houses RL mix. Now the search begins for a minty fresh Zep II RL mix for side one and side two!
  9. A great show and pairing of a Zeppelin deep cut! Loved it!
  10. The WLL Medley from this gig is one of my absolute faves! I first heard it when I bought the vinyl boot "In The light" and remember even that version was seriously edited - I didn't hear the whole thing till many years later. Question - Can anyone recommend a vinyl boot that has the complete WLL Medley? Thanks!
  11. I LOVE classic rock - and obviously Zeppelin - but would say The Monkeeys are one of my favorite pop-bands of all time. Touring with Hendrix, hanging around the Beatles, pals with Frank Zappa, etc. Def a group of great musicians who don't get the respect that they're due for sure.
  12. I think that's pretty cool indeed! Anyone come across any other "Easter Eggs" in the reissues? I don't have any of the box sets or reissues, but was curious about In Through The Outdoor. Does the sleeve change color when you apply water do it? That would be pretty cool if it did.
  13. How many dates did they do two shows in the same day/night? I know it was a pretty popular thing in back in the day. Doesn't hurt that it was a pretty good pay day for the band to do it this way - but also pretty exhausting. The Stones & Doors did it and I'm sure many others.
  14. Interesting that they have different issues of Creem. The one with Page on the cover getting their attention (as expected).
  15. I love the version from un-remastered TSRTS as well - and it's a shame that Page dropped the Plantation recognizing "John Paul Jones, piano" from the remastered version.
  16. Its great to listen to Plant get so confident after the first few tours. You can tell he's a bit nervous (early on) speaking to the crowd. And by 1970 he's easily able to hold 18,000+ in the palm of his hand. The Plantations during the acoustic set of 4 September 1970 are some of my Faves. Someone should put a boot together of just Plant's Plantations!
  17. Well said! I hope the stuff in 2018 really delivers, but I'm not holding my breath.
  18. Do you think JP will offer signed copies for four-hundred pounds again?
  19. I was in 7th grade in 1980 and I remember shortly after Bonzo passed TSRTS being shown at my local theater at midnight. It was my first midnight show and remember the theater being completely packed. Some dude set off a bottle rocket in the theater, people had brought booze, and they were smoking weed. I also remember the cops had pulled a car over in the parking lot - and distinctly remember watching the cop reach into the car and pull out a bong and putting it on the roof of the car as we pulled into park. My dad must have been thinking - what the hell is this all about! Kudos to dad, cause we continued into to the theater & watched the show. This was in Schaumburg, Illinois and at the theater near woodfield shopping mall.
  20. Here here! My first Zeppelin and all time fave boot bought in 1985. My first copy had a Genesis track stamped over Moby Dick if I remember correctly. I'll be playing this today for sure!
  21. These are great! Are there any more photo's beyond the four you shared here? Also love the dude in the Illinois State shirt! Go Red Birds!
