Don't people FUCK anymore!?

Sexting is strictly for sickos and losers.

:hysterical: I have half a mind to put that first part in my signature.

But yeah, just when you didn't think things could get any nerdier, what with "cybering" and all, this pops up (so to speak :shifty: ). And besides, doing it the old fashioned way is much cheaper...you have to pay to text! If you've actually got someone to text to, for god's sake just drive over to their house. And if you don't, there's all kinds of free porn on the Internet, which I would think would get the job done a lot more efficiently and cheaply than a flippin' text message! Save a text, don't write a cowboy!

I saw this on TV...I guess it's a big thing with the teens to take dirty pics of themselves with their cameraphones and then send those pics to their boyfriend/girlfriend. Personally I think it's kinda lame. Plus, what if you and that person break up? If that happens, then here's this person who doesn't like you very much anymore, who has these pics that they could totally use against you.

I heard this story the other day. Sounds harsh (and i don't agree with this charge), but maybe it will raise awareness to not only young people who don't always realize what good judgement is at their age, but to parents of teens as well.

14-year-old New Jersey girl may get sex offender status for posting naked pictures on MySpace

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Updated Friday, March 27th 2009, 2:38 AM

TRENTON - A 14-year-old New Jersey girl has been accused of child pornography after posting nearly 30 explicit nude pictures of herself on MySpace.com — charges that could force her to register as a sex offender if convicted.

The case comes as prosecutors nationwide pursue child pornography cases resulting from kids sending nude photos to one another over cell phones and e-mail. Legal experts, though, could not recall another case of a child porn charge resulting from a teen’s posting to a social networking site.

MySpace would not comment on the New Jersey investigation, but the company has a team that reviews its network for inappropriate images. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off a state task force, which alerted the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office.

The office investigated and discovered the Clifton resident had posted the “very explicit” photos of herself, sheriff’s spokesman Bill Maer said Thursday.

“We consider this case a wake-up call to parents,” Maer said. The girl posted the photos because “she wanted her boyfriend to see them,” he said.

Investigators are looking at individuals who “knowingly” committed a crime, he said, declining to comment further because the case is still being investigated.

The teen, whose name has not been released because of her age, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography. She was released to her mother’s custody.

If convicted of the distribution charge, she would be forced to register with the state as a sex offender under Megan’s Law, said state Attorney General Anne Milgram. She also could face up to 17 years in jail, though such a stiff sentence is unlikely.

Some observers - including the New Jersey mother behind the creation of Megan’s Law — are criticizing the trend of prosecuting teens who send racy text messages or post illicit photos of themselves.

Maureen Kanka - whose daughter, Megan, became the law’s namesake after she was raped and killed at age 7 in 1994 by a twice-convicted sex offender - blasted authorities for charging the 14-year-old girl.

The teen needs help, not legal trouble, she said.

“This shouldn’t fall under Megan’s Law in any way, shape or form. She should have an intervention and counseling, because the only person she exploited was herself.”

Called “sexting” when it’s done by cell phone, teenagers’ habit of sending sexually suggestive photos of themselves and others to one another is a nationwide problem that has confounded parents, school administrators and law enforcers.

Prosecutors in states including Pennsylvania, Connecticut, North Dakota, Ohio, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and Wisconsin have tried stop it by charging teens who send and receive the pictures.

In northeastern Pennsylvania, a prosecutor recently threatened to file child porn charges against three teenage girls who authorities say took racy cell-phone pictures that ended up on classmates’ cell phones.

The MySpace case may be a first, though.

“I’m not sure I’ve seen a prosecution like this coming out of a social networking site,” said Seth Kreimer, a constitutional law professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

Milgram, the attorney general, could not recall another such case in New Jersey. She cautioned parents to get on those sites and monitor what their kids are talking about and posting.

“Unfortunately, youth don’t have the same judgment as adults,” she said, “and often, adults don’t have the same technical savvy as the youth.”

Help Pass Senate Bill 1738—The PROTECT Our Children Act - you must act on this ASAP Sep 24, '08 2:41 PM

for everyone

I watched the most disturbing Oprah show regarding child predators (it was a recorded from last week). It was truly the most disgusting thing I've ever heard or seen. The show was mostly talking about internet pornography that is distributed all over the place with young children being raped. There were even instances of newborns being sexually assaulted. It's truly disgusting. Unfortunately, even though we have the technology to catch a lot of these criminals, we don't have the manpower to put the technology to good use. Currently they say they can only investigate less than 2% of the leads they have on child predators. Please take a moment to read the below information that I posted from Oprah's website. It only takes a few minutes to send an email to your senator. You must do this right away before they recess on September 26.

***********************************************

Hundreds of thousands of children are victims of sexual abuse each year. Due to the sheer lack of resources, law enforcement is unable to follow up on the majority of leads they have.

The PROTECT Our Children Act will:

Authorize over $320 million over the next five years in desperately needed funding for law enforcement to investigate child exploitation.

Mandate that child rescue be a top priority for law enforcement receiving federal funding.

Allocate funds for high-tech computer software that can track down Internet predators.

Act Now!

Your U.S. senators will be voting on the bill soon, so it is crucial you contact them immediately.

Go to www.senate.gov to find contact information for the senators in your state. Search for your senator by name or state by clicking on the arrow from either dropdown menu. Contact information is provided here. To send an e-mail, click on "Web Form" below his or her name, and e-mail your letter to make a difference!

I don't do sexting, cybering or sex chats. I spend enough time working with kids groups and donating time for good things. I have a sister who married a guy she met in a Yahoo chat though :) One of the nicest guys you could ever wanna run across.

They have a few kids now and I get to see her occasionally when she fly's in.

Sexting is strictly for sickos and losers.

The irony of it all, is that it's legal for for children of the same age, let's call then "teens", to to consensually fuck. The state/govt. will even supply the condoms, and later the baby in the womb deletions, if requested.....

That's ALL Legal....

But.... NO PICTURES...... THAT'S IMMORAL AND CORRUPTIVE AND CRIMINAL.

Or so, the Laws decree.

"Baby in the womb deletions"? Damn, that makes it sound like someone getting rid of a corrupted file or a spam e-mail. Why not call it what it is, an abortion.

The whole sexting phenomenon is a teen thing and is only being propagated by the media capitalizing on it, especially since they now have yet another new phrase to coin in hopes of it making into Webster's next year. I don't have a cameraphone and for the phone I do have, I don't even use it for texting, just phone calls (imagine that). Hell, I wouldn't even have a cellphone if it wasn't out of necessity.

From what i see, some people don't want to talk anymore...they want to operate around some grey area for some reason. btw, phones are for talking right?

Theoretically, you're correct.

I dunno...I think people these days let the technology turn their brains into mush sometimes.
