Football has the worst all star game of all the major sports by far. Its beach time in Hawaii. Its a joke. Its called, watch these millionaires play volleyball on the beach you wish you could see someday if you want to pour your life savings away to do it. Then you get to watch them play a touch football game wearing God knows what uniforms this year? In the old days at least you could see the players wear the helmet of the team they play for. Long gone are those days. Baseball at least they play for something. Home field in the World Series. Hockey is at least entertaining. The NBA is a slam dunk fest with no defense at all. But entertaining ot a degree. Football needs to change it. And now its before the Super Bowl assring no Baltimore or SF players will be there. Who is going to get a guy injured before the SB? 3 Bills were added. Ha. Nice of them

I totally agree its a joke and I couldn't be bothered watching them play touch football..

We are not.

BTW current line is Ravens + 4 O/U 48.5. Let's stick to the subject here.

Somebody have Wes Garlic breath make a Pro bowl thread one more nobody will give a shit about.

I wonder if Rick is salivating over this news thinking Buffalo could be Smith's landing spot. Of course, there are a lot of teams in need of a starting QB next year; Arizona, Kansas City, NY Jets possibly, maybe Philadelphia depending on what they want to do with Vick.

Of course I want him and I am sure so too do the others. But they all have similiar headaches with getting rid of who they now have under contract.

wow your really close to all the action..thats cool

Yep, I sure am!!! I saw a few Ravens on the field yesterday. I was told the whole team would be arriving today. The 49ers are using The Saints practice facility (indoor and outdoor) I live 1/2 mile from the training camp.

People like Rick (LedZeppFan77) don't seem to realize the countless beneficial reasons for having the Superbowl in New Orleans (so many times) compared to any other city. At the "Mike and Mike" show last night, (which was great) they also spoke highly about the positives of having it in NOLA (in between their stories of various foods/restaurants and clubs they've visited while here) There is not another city in the nation that can accommodate so many people, with so many attractions/entertainment within walking distance of hotels for an event such as this (SB). Most of the hotels are inside the French Quarter. If you have been here, you will understand. If not, maybe you wouldn't unless you visit. The Superdome is probably a 1/4 mile from the French Quarter. Great food, thrift shops of all kinds, Flea markets, music clubs, bars, museums, strip joints (mostly on Bourbon St) hotels, etc. etc. are beyond plentiful.

It's estimated that there will be 1 million people flying in (tourist) betweeen The Superbowl and Mardi Gras. 5,000 sports reporters, and international media.

There truly is no place like it to hold such events. Having them both within a weeks time is phenomenal.

Enjoyed reading your post Rock H. I have not been to either a Superbowl or New Orleans but would like to do both.

And my final pick of this NFL season:

Ravens 31

49ers 24

Have not had luck picking against the Ravens during the playoffs. Let's see how I do going with them.

Not only are you correct in everything you wrote RH, you are also a tad modest.

The shuttle service between the airport and the French Quarter has been flawless everytime my wife and I have visited N.O. by air.

There is a Harrah's casino right in the thick of things. You're right on the banks of the mighty Mississippi. You can watch college age women get plastered drinking Hurricanes in the cozy confines of Pat O'briens courtyard.

The people watching is second only to Las Vegas in my view. Street artists of all type. It's a piece of cake to walk to the Superdome from the FQ.

I've never been to a place that has crammed so many cool things to do within easy walking distance. Just not enough time in the day to experience it all.

Add New Orleans to your bucket list if you've never been.

I'm still weighing my pick and score.

There's a local personal trainer/gym owner here in Birmingham who's getting some press about supposedly selling Ray Lewis deer antler extract and other funky performance enhancing stuff. Gotta see if that messes with the vibe.

Never a dull moment, eh?

I only said it seems like its in New Orleans way too often. Do you think the Super Bowl should be in the same place every year? I am sure its fabulous. I have seen plenty of pictures of New Orleans over the years so I am familiar with what is there. And its in movies like Runaway Jury and the French Quarter is famous as is the Mardi Gras. An event that was once a coveted experience but like so many others crime has tainted it. There have been many reports of people using costumes simply to commit purse snatchings and such. Its an invitation to get robbed. No thanks. If I ever were to go there, it would NOT be for the Mardi Gras
