A lot of my bucket list I've accomplished (saw African migration, met Princess Di, swam in Antarctica, visited the mountain gorilllas, been to Mardi Gras, Oktoberfest and Carnival, played in a rock band and saw Zepeplin at the O2. I didn't think I could come up with ten.....but I did:

1. Climb Mount Everest

2. See the Pyramids, Machu Pinchu and Angor Watt.

3. Figure out how to play Judas Priest's "Exciter" note for note.

4. Go to Vegas for a weekend and live like a rock star - spare no expense!

5. Take a photo of a Javan rhinoceros in the wild.

6. Do the "Led Zeppelin sites" tour in England, Wales and N. Ireland.

7. Attempt to eat the Big Texan 72 ounce staek in an hour.

8. Celebrate New Years in Edinburgh.

9. Finish writing a novel - and get it published.

10. Retire at age 54.

i would love to do 2, 4, 6, and 10 ..... :)

^ That's a great list! I was curious to see yours, after you started the thread.

If had a fantasy bucket list, I would travel back in time to see the '85 Bears. Sweetness, The Fridge, The Super Bowl Shuffle ()... I was definitely born a few years too late.

same here

Ha! What do a couple of Euros know about avocados? It's your loss. :P

Lol, I sold those nasties during my "career" as fruit/veggie salesman. i even had to pretend they were tasty (same goes for other disgusting substances like kale).

But hey, who am I who ate fried camel meat on flatbread and actually liked it (was supposed to be good for the libido, yeah right, blah!!!!)

Was it a "hump" steak?

^ Shawarma - is that not like a kebab type of thing? Saw loads of those when in Amsterdam. Never fancied anything like that to be honest. Never fancied anything that had a) Photos outside and B) looked exactly like the porno shop windows! Anyway Febos satisfied my buds after buds. If you get my drift ;)

It will be quite hard, if not impossible to visit Czechoslovakia, since that country doesn't exist anymore since 1993.

Hee Hee, I've been planning to visit for so long..Next you will be telling me I do not need to pass through Checkpoint Charlie to visit East Berlin....!

I will also buy a up-to-date atlas.

Love this thread. Really got me thinking about this and working on my list, alot revolving around travel though and trying to get a different angle. Have always had things on the back of my mind to do but different when it is written. Bravo to all that have shared their lists.

PS.Not sure why avacodos are the enemy though. And kale?

Spend some time in Mexico, you will grow to love the guacamole. Kale chips are kind of yummy too. Both work great in smoothies too.

Ok. One of my items is to learn to be a gourmet cook. Maybe I should be in a cooking forum, not a zep forum.

I do not say I didn't try to eat both several times, in several dishes.........

I love most veggies and even lived on vegetarian stuff for bout 5 years, but the taste of both avocados and kale just doesn't appeal to me.

The texture of kale is also a big yukkk factor.

I feel that way about Brussels sprouts. Gag! Kale can be harsh texture in a salad. Avocados are tricky to get the exact day when they taste good, sometimes too ripe or not ripe enough.

I hate brussels sprouts also, but that is not why I created this thread

In no particular order:

- Fly in either a Tupolov Tu-144 or Concorde like plane over the Atlantic

- Spend a month bumming around Vientiane and Luang Prabang in Laos

- Introduce me son to his sports hero Bode Miller

- Visit Eastern Europe and the used record stores there

- Attend a Winter Olympic Games

- Attend the World Cup, soccer really is the greatest team sport that has been

- Sell me home and move on the mountain in Maine one day so I can ski 6 months of the year

- Visit my family roots in France and the UK

- Spend another month bumming around Flagstaff Arizona visiting my family there (Ski Snowbowl again which is there) and roam around the desert again

- Spend time in Turkey not related to work

- More time in NY which is a better city over Los Angeles with better places to eat and hangout

If you move to Alaska you can ski all-year-round.

If you move to Scotland you can ski year round. It's been so cold here for so long I bet that in July you could get the skis out

  • 5 months later...

I haven't had a running list in my head but I've done a couple of things to be considered bucket list items. Sometimes though opportunites come up in life that qualify for the list. I have been presented one of those opportunities by my brother in law last week. After thinking about it for a few days I said yes.

SOOOO....next saturday I will be traveling out to Soboba Casino racetrack, take a few pointers and trial runs and see if I can qualify to race in a power puff division of sand drag racing. If I can qualify, I will be racing a sand drag rail on sunday on my 56th birthday.

Sometimes, as age overcomes our lives, birthdays pass by as just another day or we do something special to remember. I wanted this one to be one of the special ones. It is totally out of character for me as I am by no means a speed demon. I never even considered it before and was fine to just watch and support my brother in law in his racing career. But he offered and I couldn't say no and wonder later why I didn't try it. A little scary to think about but intriguing just the same to say I've done it.

Wish me luck..............
