  1. What about the one and only time they did 'Old Man' by Love at the 27/3/75 forum show? I always thought that was pretty cool. I think the longest dazed too, clocking in at 46 mins!
  2. I don't think DW will ever get the re release treatment. Im pretty sure the Stones and most Stones fans would rather forget that album was ever released 🤣
  3. All of this stuff is so easily obtainable for free. Kinda ironic that one of those photos is I believe backstage at the Silverdome before they went on, the footage of which, is a holy grail. I hope it sees the light of day sometime...
  4. On the topic of '77 tapes and the quality of said tapes. If the second night in LA (22/6) had a better quality tape, or at least the partial source which is quite a good quality tape the whole way through then I think that it would be viewed as maybe the best show of the whole run. It's overlooked, much like 26/6 show because Millard didn't tape it, but boy oh boy, does it absolutely smoke. Maybe Page's best show of the tour, the intensity of his playing is phenomenal and just so on point. The version of SIBLY is up there with the best versions of their career, let alone the best versions from '77... Those of you who haven't dusted off that show in a while, I would encourage you to do.
  5. No Quarter from one of those Cincinnati shows (I forget which) absolutely smokes. The outro soloing from Page is killer.
  6. Page doesn't owe anybody anything but it makes me sad that his peers are still creating and playing music while he does stuff like this. I suppose at least he's stopped with the comments about a solo album. Seems he's not even kidding himself anymore on that front...
  7. Rod is just a shadow of his former self these days which is a shame, voice is completely shot.
  8. ^ Just listened to WS/BMS from the above show. Page seems to drop a bit of 'Swan Song' around the 7 min mark, pretty cool. He of course, would incorporate this into 'Midnight Moonlight' with the Firm.
  9. I'm hoping for a SBD of both Cincinnati shows from '77 tbh, that version of NQ from the 19th is maybe the best ever. The outro solo absolutely smokes in particular; not to mention Lady Madonna!
  10. Whatever your thoughts on how ethical EV are this is intriguing because obviously this set contains the one show that we have video for and two that are rumoured to have video exist for. Obviously this is their intention and they most likely don't have the video. If they did why not release a huge set with the video + audio in a box. That would go for mega bucks, who knows maybe that is coming? One can only hope...
  11. 'Millenial snowflake'. Get a new slant Steve, because this was old when you were peddling it years ago.
  12. Was considering going to the Auckland show but I will be at a wedding in Rarotonga at the time! Ah well, being on Rarotonga is a pretty good trade off I think!
  13. I remember the excitement during the lead up the Stones 50th anniversary, culminating in the announcement of the four London & New York dates. There were fears the band would never play together again due to Keith's book, and his seemingly very frail physical condition. Here we are 6 years later and they're still going strong, starting another tour. Granted, they are an oldies act now and have been for a long time, with their last release in 2005. Sadly, I feel none of the same with the impending Zeppelin anniversary. And not just because there's 0% chance of any concerts being announced. If anything is released it will just be another rehash of already available material. This brings me to another area where the Stones are considerably better, the release of live shows, warts and all. The 'From the Vault' series has been great, with consistent releases every few months. Now, if only Jimmy and co would sign off on a similar series - they would sell like hotcakes.
  14. Didn''t he break a string during ALS at the second Knebworth show? Regardless, it does sound pretty bad right out of the gate. The guitar sounds out of tune, and he is flubbing notes all over the place. I've only listened to that version a handful of times. Strangely though I do love NQ from the 11th.
  15. I love the Stones. However, this last latest tour has been a pretty lackluster affair so far. The Setlist remains largely unchanged from the last 5 years, and Keith's playing is reaching Chuck Berry in his later years level of bad. Just listen to any one song and you can hear multiple mistakes. They are phoning it in, really don't know why Mick Taylor was brought back into the fold to play 1-2 songs and then was gone again. His playing elevated the band to another level and if he had been allowed to play whole concerts people might still be talking about the music instead of just how amazing it is the Stones are still touring at their age. Maybe he quit again like in '74, I'd wager though that Keith and Ronnie didn't like that his playing is above and beyond their current levels. Just imagine what they could have done with songs like Sympathy with MT on board. Now all you get is Keith hitting some chords off key, and attempting to play a couple of 'solos' which in all honesty are pretty painful to listen to a lot of the time. He has a long history of substance abuse, very arthritic hands and a head injury so it's no surprise really - but they are charging astronomical amounts of money to see them. If you want a comparison look no further than someone like Pete Townshend, who is still absolutely slaying the guitar every night, with a huge loss of his hearing to boot. Nobody beats father time.
  16. ^ A classic version indeed. It's absolutely criminal that there is no officially released live version of NQ apart from the TSRTS.
  17. ^ Definitely worth seeing it in IMAX mate, it blew me away.
  18. Probably already been mentioned, but did that final scene with Luke remind anyone of TSRTS? Saw this last night in 3D on IMAX, was just awesome. I could feel myself welling up at points. Amazing what movies can do to our emotions.
  19. A mouth watering prospect of boards of LA '77 is the potential for matrixes...
  20. Too bad the NZ warm -ups aren't being televised. I must say, Australia are looking very strong but India have been woeful which does make them look better. Can't wait until we play the Aussies on Feb 28th, gonna be one for the ages.
