Same as the old boss/

My Generation - The Who

"I hope I die before I get old."

Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin

Basically the last verse.

Good Times Bad Times - Led Zeppelin

In the days of my youth, I was told what it means to be a man/

Now I've reached that age, I've tried to do all those things the best I can/

No matter how I try, I find my way into the same old jam/

Time - Pink Floyd

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain/

And you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today/

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you/

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun/

Sheep - Pink Floyd

Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream/

Wave upon wave of demented avengers/

March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream./

I have way more, I'll update soon.

What about you guys? Share yours.

Of course there are probably hundreds of favorite and great Rock Lines of all-Time. Two of my favorite Rock lines of Led Zeppelin are:

These are some of my favorite non-LZ lines.

Nazereth

Please don't number me

Don't betray my trusted promise

Please don't anger me

I find it hard to bear no malice

Don't frustrate me, manipulate me

Please don't Judas me.

Tool

Fuck L. Ron Hubbard and Fuck all his clones.

Fuck all these gun-toting Hip gangster wannabes.

Learn to swim.

Fuck retro anything. Fuck your tattoos.

Fuck all you junkies and Fuck your short memory.

Learn to swim.

Fuck smiley glad-hands With hidden agendas.

Fuck these dysfunctional, Insecure actresses.

Learn to swim.

Ted Nugent

I see you there with your cheshire grin – I got my eyes on you.

Shake your tailfeathers in my face and there's no tellin' what I'll do.

Well looky here, you sweet young thing, the magic's in my hands.

When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock 'n' roll band

It's a free-for-all.

Nine Inch Nails

You made me throw it all away

My morals left to decay

How many you betray

You've taken everything

– Terrible lie –

My head is filled with disease

My skin is begging you please

I'm on my hands and knees

I want so much to believe

Pink Floyd Sorry, Electrophile, but I love 'em too.

And when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown.

And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.

And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around.

So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone –

Dragged down by the stone.

Who was born in a house full of pain.

Who was trained not to spit in the fan.

Who was told what to do by the man.

Who was broken by trained personnel.

Who was fitted with collar and chain.

Who was given a pat on the back.

Who was breaking away from the pack.

Who was only a stranger at home.

Who was ground down in the end.

Who was found dead on the phone.

Who was dragged down by the stone.

One of the most famous and most disputed is that line in "I Can't Get No) Satisfaction":

I can't get no satisfaction

I can't get no girl reaction

It is often argued that it is:

I can't get no satisfaction

I can't get no girlie action

However if this is the case, then Mick was singing with an oriental accent, because there definitely is an 'r' in there.

You can't always get what you want

But if you try sometimes well you just might find

You get what you need

----------------

Well, you're where you should be all the time

And when you're not, you're with

Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend

----------------

It's better to burn out 'cause rust never sleeps

----------------

They knew all the right people

They took all the right pills

They threw outrageous parties

They paid heavenly bills

---------------

I wanna rock and roll all night

And party every day :D

Yellow matter custard, dripping from a dead dog's eye.

Crab a locker fishwife, pornographic priestess

Boy, you've been a naughty girl, you let your knickers down.

I am the eggman, we are the eggmen, i am the walrus.

Lennon was brilliant.

Let's see:

Oh to sail away, To sandy lands and other days

Oh to trust the dream, Hides inside and never seen.

----------

And in the end

The love you take

Is equal to the love you make.

----------

Us and Them

And after all we're only ordinary men

There is no pain you are receding

A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.

You are only coming through in waves.

Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.

When I was a child I had a FEVER My hands felt just like two balloons.

Now I've got that feeling once again

I can't explain, you would not understand

This is not how I am.

----------

We made a vow we'd always be friends.

How could we know that promises end?

----------

And I ain't too old to hurry

Cause I ain't too old to die (Poor Bon! :'( )

----------

Will time make men more wise?

Come tomorrow, will I be older?

Come tomorrow, maybe a soldier.

Come tomorrow, may I be bolder than today.

-----------

I love rock n' roll

So put another dime in the jukebox, baby

I love rock n' roll

So come and take your time and dance with me :D

From one of my favorite songs:

Yours is the cloth, mine is the hand that sews time

He is the force that lies within

Ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find

He is a feather in the wind.

"All of My Love" by Led Zeppelin

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

"The End" by The Beatles

Oh well, its been a good day in hell, but tomorrow I'll be glory bound.

"Good Day In Hell" by the Eagles

Another one, the entire song:

751px-VanGogh-starry_night_ballance1.jpg

"Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)"

By Don McLean

Starry, starry night

Paint your palette blue and grey

Look out on a summer's day

With eyes that know the darkness in my soul

Shadows on the hills

Sketch the trees and daffodils

Catch the breeze and the winter chills

In colours on the snowy linen land

Now I understand

What you tried to say to me

And how you suffered for your sanity

And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen

They did not know how

Perhaps they'll listen now

Starry, starry night

Flaming flowers that brightly blaze

Swirling clouds and violet haze

Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue

Colours changing hue

Morning fields of amber grain

Weathered faces lined in pain

Are soothed beneath the artists' loving hand

Now I understand

What you tried to say to me

And how you suffered for your sanity

And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen

They did not know how

Perhaps they'll listen now

For they could not love you

But still your love was true

And when no hope was left inside

On that starry, starry night

You took your life as lovers often do

But I could have told you Vincent

This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you

Like the strangers that you've met

The ragged men in ragged clothes

The silver thorn of bloody rose

Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow

Now I think I know

What you tried to say to me

And how you suffered for your sanity

And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen

They're not listening still

Perhaps they never will...

(I viewed this painting in person recently at the Museum of Modern Art, MOMA, in NYC. It was beautiful.)

Maggie comes fleet foot

Face full of black soot

Talkin' that the heat put

Plants in the bed but

The phone's tapped anyway

And Maggie says that many say

They must bust in early May

Orders from the D.A.

I love the lyrics to the whole song, but these particular lines resonate with me:

...I'm always hearing voices on the street

I want to shout, but I can hardly speak

I was making love last night

To a dancer friend of mine

I can't seem to stay in step

Cause she comes everytime that she pirourettes on me...

...Kick me like you've kicked before

I can't even feel the pain no more...

...The sunshine bores the daylights out of me

Chasing shadows, moonlight mystery...

"Rocks Off" - The Rolling Stones

...The new groups are not concerned

With what there is to be learned

They got Burton suits, ha you think it's funny

Turning rebellion into money...

Jenny said when she was just 5 years old

There was nothing happening at all

Everytime she put on the radio

There was nothing going down at all

Not at all

The one fine morning she puts on a New York station

You know she didn't believe what she heard at all

She started shaking to that fine fine music

You know her life was saved by rock 'n' roll

Despite all the amputations you know you could go out

And dance to the rock 'n' roll station

It was alright

Nice thread!

The first ones that pop into my mind:

Well that's allright, I know your sister too.

As I turned to you, you smiled at me, how could we say no?

Sitting on the park bench, eyeing little girls with bad intent

The morning sun when it's in your face really shows your age

but that don't worry me none, in my eyes you're everythin!

Like the time I ran away, turned around and you were standing close to me

We got the bubbleheaded bleach-blonde, comes on at 5

She can tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye

It's interesting when people die, give us dirty laundry

Can we film the operation? Is the head dead yet?

You know the boys in the newsroom got a running bet

Get the widow on the set, we need dirty laundry

-Don Henley

No one respects the flame quite like the fool who's badly burned

From all this you'd imagine that there must be something learned....

-Pete Townsend
