A decade ago, San Francisco investment banker Warren Hellman had a wacky idea: he wanted to underwrite a free bluegrass festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.

"We had no idea whether anybody would show up," Hellman recalled from his office, with views of Angel Island. "And there were 20,000 people."

The 10th annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass concert, which has grown wildly since its inception in 2001, will take over Golden Gate Park from Friday, Oct. 1, through Sunday, Oct. 3

And Robert Plant, the voice of Led Zeppelin, will join other musicians even though he's not listed as part of the lineup.

Aw man, I didn't know JPJ was performing today. I did take a few pictures of Robert today, but they aren't as fancy as ProPlant's.

Great photos. Thanks!

Agree that the pictures are great snkcube!

Robert's hair was just pulled back during the show. He played the harmonica and sang the chorus on "Somewhere Trouble Don't Go" much like during the Band of Joy shows. He and Patty sang the song "Ohio" that they co-wrote about the underground railroad. Anyone who bought the Sensational Space Shifters download that Robert put out from London will have heard this one.

I love the LZ community for the sharing- can't say thank you enough.

Anyone else wish Robert had a white dove land in his hand whilst singing? Dude can bang on the harmonica- sheeeiminy christmas. Emmylou looks like Bride of American Indian Zombie Night Valentine right? Her voice is still nice enough its just, well, Loreal/Covergirl intervention on the hotline please. Sorry, shouldn't comment when on allergy meds. :redcard: Sorry maybe. Need sleep.
