Osama bin Laden DEAD

I realize your quote is from wiki, but should we believe that those attributes noted here are not also present say in a nation like North Korea? So what then do you do with the labels left wing and right wing? From the definition of "right -wing" that most people think of and use, it means on the other end of the political spectrum from Communism. So how then do categorize he authoritarianism, nativism, racism and xenophobia present within the North Korean regime?

Bottom line is that left -wing and right - wing are LABELS that don't really explain the specifics of a political platform very well at all. Since Hitler's Nazi party also contained a whole lot of socialism and social engineeing, I really don't think of that as being comparable to most of the conservatives that I know who may also have very libertarian principals. So the "right-wing" label and "right-wing" comparison to Nazi style facism is far off the mark.

Since labels are generally used only to create strawman arguements, you have to be wary of how those labels later tend to be accepted as definitions.

Cheers,

Brad

Hi Brad, or anybody else for that matter,

How about we have a list of Right Wing Regimes and Left Wing Regimes, past and present, so there can be no room for misunderstandings in the future, any takers?

Kind Regards, Danny

Utter jabberwocky made up by people who would like us to believe that history went differently than it did :):):)!!!!!

How is it jabberwocky? Socialism isn't right wing, social engineering isn't right wing either. Corporatism in which private business and the government conspire to fund the war machine and control private liberty of the people is facism. The out of control nationalism that the Nazi's preached was extreme right wing.

They were a mix of everything, quit throwing out your personal view as fact and do your homework.

As I said in other occasions, THANX AMERICA FOR WIPING OUT THE RIGHT WING IDEALS IN WWII,

So it was only America who stopped them, eh?

What about all the Australian, British, Canadian, New Zealanders, Russians and all the other allies too many to name that fought and died for the cause, long before America joined in and it is questionable they would've gotten involved if Pearl Harbour hadn't happened?

Tell that to the families who lost loved ones during that and all other conflicts before and after WWII.

Get your facts straight before you make such outlandish claims like your above statement.

Hardly, mine is based on facts while yours is based on your opinion only and how is it biased when I speak for all those involved?

No-one doubts America's involvement or contribution to stopping the war, it took two atomic bombs dropped on Japanese soil to cease hostilities in the Pacific.

You mate, are looking like the biggest American ARSE kisser anyone ever had the misfortune to come across.

Do you speak with a fake American accent too?

I bet you even embarrass Americans! :)

I can't wait for more of your pearls of wisdom!

I would hardly call this dude an American ARSE kisser. He has repeatedly called George W. Bush, Rudolph Giuliani, the F.B.I, the C.I.A, the American National Guard (among many) terrorists or terrorists organizations. I have asked him to please explain why he calls these Americans and/or American Institutions terrorists, yet he has never done so. I am really curious as to why he calls Rudy Giuliani a terrorist.

For someone who claims to be a teacher, he does not seem to be too articulate when it comes to the way he "expresses" himself when it comes to the words he uses and the way he types them. Sorry spiders, just the way I feel.

By the way, I know you are going to read this and reply in the same manner you seem to reply to me and others so, I ask you once again, in your reply would you please explain why you call who you call, terrorists. If you do that I will not bring it up ever again (unless absolutely necessary).

If I had to express mysef as a teacher here, 90% of the readers here wouldn't understand anyway...so I stick to language used in forums which is not really that formal you know:):)!!!!!

You are correct. It was a joint effort.

Here are the facts:

19 September 1931 - Japan Invades China

27 February 1932 - Japan takes control of Manchuria

2 October 1935 - Italy invades Ethiopia

7 March 1936 - Germany occupies the Rhineland in violation of the treaty of Versailles

20 October 1936 - Mongolian troops under Japanese command attack northern China

13 August 1937 - Japan attacks Shanghai China

9 November 1937 - Kristallnacht begins in Germany, Jews are attacked, synagogues are burned

15 March 1939 - Germany invades Czechoslovakia

7 April 1939 - Italy invades Albania

1 September 1939 - Germany invades Poland

3 September 1939 - Britain, France, Australia and New Zealand declare war on Germany

Okay, so here is the part where you believe that WW2 begins, right? But why didn't Britain, France, Australia and New Zealand declare war on Italy? Why not declare war on Japan as well? What about the attacks against China? What about the taking of Ethiopia and Albania? What about all the persecution of Jews in Germany?

Not worthy of a declaration of war???

In all honesty your nation declared war on Germany when they decided that it was in their interest to declare war on Germany. But admit that it wasn't in their interest for nearly a decade while China was being attacked by Japan. So why apply a different standard for the United States? How was it in the interest of the United States to declare war on Germany when Poland was attacked any more that it apparently was not in Britain's interest to declare war on Italy when Albania was attacked? Are you seeing my point?

Point being that many atrocities and attacks occurred "long before" Britain, France and the Commonwealths decided to declare war. And even after war was declared against Germany, what exactly was done for Poland? Not much as the Polish people will even say today.

Well, that isn't exactly the whole story either. There was a little thing called 'Lend-Lease' where the United States was technically in violation of Neutrality and we were helping to supply the United Kingdom with military goods. And had Germany decided to declare war for those actions by the United States they could have... because we were not acting Neutral.

Pearl Harbor was the point where the United States needed to get into the war, but not before. I just don't agree with the perspective where it's okay to fault us for not getting involved in yet another European conflict, when some of you all didn't get involved after the events I outlined above?

Cheers,

Brad

Apart from Italy and Ethiopia, Japan and China were in one conflict after another for many, many years.

The reason Britain didn't get involved in 1936 is because Chamberlain was trying to appease Germany.

The Kristallnacht incidents while disgusting weren't grounds to declare war because it was a domestic issue.

When Czechoslavakia was invaded no-one knew of Hitler's grand scheme to invade and totally dominate Europe, until he invaded Poland.

I think it's a bit unreasonable to say that Poland didn't receive any help, they were after all under the control of the German army.

The atrocities committed against Poland weren't known about for a long while after they occurred given that not much information was coming out about their plight, especially the concentration camps.

No. September 1939 was when we got involved in WWII.

The only "interest" we had, as you stated was our close ties with Britain as part of The Commonwealth and part of that alliance is we assist each other in conflicts if and when it's necessary.

Just as America chose to remain neutral so did Britain and the Commonwealth where Japan and China were concerned.

Wars aren't usually declared unless a country is attacked or under threat of attack and that's why we declared war on Japan.

Unlike America, Australia was under direct threat of being invaded and the Japanese got as close as New Guinea before they were stopped.

Darwin was bombed and Sydney was infiltrated by midget submarines which sank HMAS Kuttabul a naval ferry and killed 21 Australian Navy and other Commonwealth personnel who got between a torpedo and the American warship USS Chicago (the intended target)moored in the harbour.

Were you aware of that?

Lend Lease was part of America's contribution I alluded to.

I for one did not criticise America for not "getting involved in another European conflict".

So I guess you are never going to explain yourself when it comes to the question that I asked you about? At least say that you are not, instead of avoiding my question. That I could respect more than your obviously avoiding the question. In case you have already forgotten, why do you say this: this is from your own post (#533).

"I would add other names to that terrorist list:

The past Bush administration

The American Gun lobby

Ghaddafi and his govt.

The armies of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Syria

Giuliani and his band of Mafiosis

The CIA

The FBI

....................and many, MANY others :):)"

Wouldn't it be much easier to answer the question and explain yourself for this ridiculous statement that you made?

I think a few of us are waiting for your explanation. You said these things, why are you afraid to back up your own words? If somebody challenged me like this, I would surely give my reasons. What are yours?

The day before Pearl Harbor, a national poll was released which found only 8 % of Americans wanted anything to do with the war in Europe. It's not presented that way today, but people like Lindbergh, Henry Ford, and Joseph Kennedy actually represented a strong majority of Americans that could of cared less if Europeans were headed for yet another conflict. It wasn't our continent....it was yours.

Well our friend here :P (spidersandsnakes) is not answering these questions, regarding those he feels are terrorists, since he's now been officially banned. Don't know if it was one particular thing he said or cumulative. I'm sure he'll go under another name in due time.

If this is true that is too bad. I was really hoping he would FINALLY answer the questions I have repeatedly asked him (yes, about his rants about why he considers some Americans and American Institutions terrorists). I think this is important to me because he says such things either out of anger or desperation and never backs up his comments with why he says or feels such things. I mean seriously, can anyone really believe anything this dude posts when he calls the former mayor of New York City a terrorist? Especially when said mayor was right in the middle of what was happening in NYC on the day of 9/11/2001.

If you are out there somewhere please answer and explain yourself about your posts. It really does seem now that I am not the only one who is awaiting your reply.

I think at some point a person has to back up their viewpoint with facts. Anyone can spew forever and it gets tiring as hell but really, facts talk the loudest. Unfortunately he never did, except once very recently in another thread here.

Message received then.
