zarrebel
Cant say I like many of the modern bands but my Daughter has got me into NIGHTWISH, WITHIN TEMPTATION and even H.I.M. they may be Gothy but they they are very raw wiv a big sound. Any of you guy's seen PAUL RODGERS of late...His voice is even better than the old days, especially when he is performin solo gigs.... Joelmon
Easily for me it's Sonic Youth.................they've been around since the early 80s but still contemporary and creative !!!
Sounds Caress My Ears
I am getting into some Sonic Youth as of late and really liking what I'm hearing. I was one of those people who was pretty pigheaded about getting into contemporary music until relatively recently...Do I regret it? Of course I do! Sounds Caress My Ears
Definitely the latter interpretation The sheer breadth of everything there is to explore is a little daunting, but it's so refreshing and I'm having a lot of fun with it! Jahfin
I have no idea who the "best" are but some of my current favorites would be Ryan Adams and the Cardinals Drive-By Truckers Nada Surf Fiery Furnaces The Tripwires

leddy
I think for me it would have to be Muse, I think they crossover from Rock/pop/classical and prog rock is an interesting one and they do come up with some blinding riffs !! Robert Plant of course !!!
GetTheLedOut
What MMJ album would you recommend? The Redwalls song I was thinking of is called "Colorful Revolution". I don't know what the best starting place would be but I started on Z, so try that.

Sounds Caress My Ears
When we call Sonic Youth a contemporary band, you know you're on an oldies board. Haha, and Radiohead and the like. Maybe the thread should be retitled to "The Best Bands That Are A Little Bit Closer To Being Contemporary Than Zeppelin, Etc."

They've been compared to Cream, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Free and Led Zeppelin though.

Kissandra
o wow ill buy one of their albums tommorow any suggestions? My favorite is "Magic Potion", but most people favor their "Rubber Factory", so that's probably your best bet.
