I switched to reading on the kindle app starting about 10 years ago, when I first started to need reading glasses (still don't have any which is why I use kindle). But I still like wandering in there sometimes. Never been to Powell's, but there are a few used bookstore hold-outs fighting the good fight here in Sac, God bless em.
