Live Albums

Swede

Recommended Posts

When a live album succeed to catch the essence of a great live band it can be the ultimate record to purchase.

Please recomend your top 5 list of live albums.

Here are my recomendations for you to check out:

Ten Years After - Live At Fillmore East 1970

This one is far better then their 1973 album, Recorded Live, which is a great album too.

Live At Fillmore East 1970 was released 2001 and contains interesting liner notes by drummer Ric Lee.

Rory Gallagher - Irish Tour '74

Anyone into blues rock and guitarists like Johnny Winter, SRV and Hendrix, really should check this Irish rocker out. If you haven't heard him before, you'll be stunned by this album. That's a promise.

These guys could outplay anyone. And I mean ANYONE.

Be sure to get the De Luxe edition.

I'm really suprised that no one has mentioned Unleashed In The East by Judas Priest. In my opinion, HTWWW is an excellent live album (and an excellent album in general), but Unleashed beats the pants off of HTWWW. But I'm probably a bit biased considering Unleashed In The East is my favorite album of all time biggrin.gif

Well other than Led Zeppelin:

Jimi Hendrix, Band of Gypsys

Allman Brothers Band, Live at Fillmore East

Eric Clapton, E.C was Here

Grateful Dead, Live Dead

Frank Zappa, The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life

All Greats!

1. P*U*L*S*E - Pink Floyd

2. How The West Was Won - Led Zeppelin

3. Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out - The Rolling Stones

4. Live at Leeds - The Who

5. Live at the Fillmore East - The Allman Brothers Band

Note: I didn't include any bootlegs, just official live albums. If I did bootlegs, it would be about 50 PF bootlegs and maybe two Zep ones, so this way there's a bit more diversity in my choices.
